Simple set up
I bought this WiFi router and modem because I was changing my Internet service provider. It no longer made me feel comfortable to continue to throw routers away at the end of each contract. Therefore after much research I decided upon this router as I analysed it would meet the demands of my family of 4, 2 adults who work from home and 2 children who have multiple devices connected to the Internet and are based in the UK to the BT open reach network via a VDSL connection. I did not have a Rj45 connection. Having leap into a non router contract, I was supplied on with a isp user name and password and nothing more. Having downloaded the tether app I was able to follow the instructions, however I was unable to connect to the internet. A call to the tp link helpline, answered also immediately, they resolved my issue within 15mins, with James Morrion provide reassurance and clear instructions. This resolved my issue and I'm on line! I will never go back to ISP provided routers again as the tp link device is far superior, no drop outs so far, greater functionality and control over my network.

A good value option for personal home use
After changing to an ISP with a business line, I originally purchased a TP-Link C2300 router with an expensive modem from another brand, expecting really reliable performance, only to experience no end of trouble, needing to restart the modem frequently as the speed would grind to a halt on a regular basis. After more than a year of frustration I was reluctant to buy another separate modem, so I decided to give this a go as a cheap option and it worked pretty much flawlessly straight out of the box. The set up was easy and all the previous hassles experienced with the other modem disappeared immediately. The tether app on the smartphone makes set up practically automatic. There are a couple negatives though and the main one is lack of support for WPA3 security over wi-fi. I hadn't read the small print and just assumed it would be there at time of purchase, so I was rather dismayed to find that missing. Later on my wife started working from home with her work computer and it refused to connect for more than a few seconds before kicking her off. The reason was that her IT department had set WPA3 as a minimum requirement, so if you are bringing home a work laptop, this may not be a good option for you. I actually solved this after having a brainwave and setting it up to operate purely as a modem in bridge mode, then connect it to the C2300 router, which offers better security and a stronger signal, so finally it all works brilliantly. It looks a bit strange having both devices there, but the combination works well and the C2100 is quite flexible in the sense that it can be used as a standalone modem, router or both together, as will be the case for most users. If it had better wi-fi security I'd give it 5 stars at this price.

Upgraded From Sky Q Hub
Ever since upgrading to Sky Q we've had issues with our broadband. Drop outs, buffering when watching prime video, even the WIFI signal on my PC was terrible, resulting in poor latency and slow download speeds. I tried power line adapters, which work fine with my wife's work PC, but mine is on the other side of the house so the signal crosses over the main power junction box, so the connection is pants (although even my laptop was rubbish, even when sat 2 foot from the router) I'd had enough, so did a bit of research. I had read a few things about modems needing certain settings/features to work with Sky, so I was a bit apprehensive about committing to something that might not work. I bit the bullet on this model (VR2100) and I'm so glad I did. The router feels great, build quality is nice, nice big antennas and the setup was easy as pie. I plugged it in, followed the instructions, selecting the Sky option, and... it just worked. I downloaded the app to my phone so now I can easily see what devices are connected to the network, I've labeled each device up in the app so I can see exactly what each one is (kids tablets, Sky box, mine and the wife's phones etc) and set up a seperate guest network for people who come over. The user interface is so easy to use, and now I can control connections, set time limits on devices, even block and kick devices from the network. I did turn the auto switching off, I found my phone was struggling switching between the two frequencies, so I have stuff that's static/in the same room as the router connected to the 5ghz band, the rest is on the 2.4Ghz. I also bought a low profile USB drive and plugged it into the USB port on the side of the router, you can barely even see it in there but now I have network attached storage, so I can easily transfer files between PC/Laptop without using the cloud, and back up photos or other things. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. My PC download speeds are now running at full speed (we're on a 40 meg connection) and my connection when gaming is solid and ping/latencies are really low. If you have a Sky Q router, just do yourself a favour and throw it in the bin. Get one of these, you won't regret it!

Good when it works
I upgraded our Internet connection to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth needs of two adults and two kids, at home most of the time during lockdown, only to discover that our old router became a problem. I decided to go for a higher-end device and settled on the Archer VR2100. I needed a device with gigabit ports, and this has four. It supported our uprated DSL service and does most things really well. The wi-fi is strong throughout most of our house and my kids stopped moaning about "laaaaaaaag" when playing online games. There are a couple of things it doesn't do well. Firstly, the ability to block devices and put in place time restrictions. Our old router (also a TPLink) did this well. You could set up groups and time schedules and I could make sure my kids devices stopped working at exactly 10pm. On this router, the functionality is less, it's harder to implement, and it just doesn't work. Everything is in place, but my 11 year-old can still sneak his phone to bed and stream videos..... which is disappointing. I'm pretty sure it's a router problem, not a 'me' problem, as I'm a network engineer...... so I have a pretty good understanding of this stuff. Second, and actually more annoyingly, the router crashes and does wierd stuff. Sometimes, everything in my house just drops off the network. It's not just wi-fi devices, it's the also PCs and other things connected directly to those gigabit ports, which makes me think the router has some kind of bug (memory leak, instability, etc). I've upgraded the firmware, but that doesn't help. It probably happens a couple of times a week, even with a scheduled reboot taking place every day at 4am. I would recommend it for performance, but it's not bulletproof for reliability

Item faulty - will not connect to internet. Customer support - USELESS!
Item arrived in the product box and no other packaging. Quick guide set up instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow and I soon had it all set up. (if your used to routers it's not really rocket science anyway). Set it all up and put in my ISP login in details but it would not connect. Tried the support advice which was not overly clear but no joy. Ensured I had correct login details for ISP (which I did). Tried a different router which worked with no issues. Found a user manual online (as there was not one supplied). Tried everything but still no joy. Tried Amazon Tech support who were t at all helpful. ( "have you tried unplugging it and plugging it in again?" "Have you tried connecting it to the modem?") Despite trying numerous times to explain it was a modem it seemed it was a waste of time. I said I would return the item and arrange this myself online as I could chose the option where I did not have to package the item (as it did not come in anything other than the product box wrapped in cellophane, which I can't exactly put back on. Seem that despite this the Tech support have arranged to send me another router (Not what I asked for) and for me to return this one using the package it myself and print a label at the Hermes shop option (What I specifically said I did not want!) I now have to package this at my own expense and find a shop where I can print the labels there as I no longer have the option of doing that from home living in a rural area makes this a pain as I now have to travel 14 miles to the nearest one!. Thanks a lot Amazon!

Great replacement for Virgin Hub3
The hub that comes from Virgin for their cable service slows down as soon as you connect more than a handful of devices. Performance was poor and reliability very flaky with the Virgin Hub, so decided to get one of these to handle WiFi duties. The difference is massive, no more drop outs, really good coverage, and getting over 200MB speed. Set up is relatively simple but takes a few settings changes to finally get it right (it did me anyway). Definitely worth the upgrade, nice bit of kit that has opened up the WiFi in the house.

Sky FTTC compatible - decent all-in-one router
Replaced an older ASUS router with a separate Draytek modem and seems to be giving comparable performance with less heat build up, one less box and power plug to worry about. Wi-Fi performance is OK but not ground braking (slightly less powerful than my old ASUS) Definitely switch to separate 5Ghz mode as the combine feature does not work correctly from what I've seen. User interface and set-up is actually pretty good and it has the features I need to run SKY FTTC without the need to use the SKY router which is garbage. QoS feature doesn't seem to allow a fixed bandwidth setting for each device, only a percentage of total which is a bit annoying. Overall not perfect but definitely doing its job well.

The product is good
I used it as an internet connection between my computer destop and the modem.

Power Compatibility Issues.
Modem was delivered in Australia with a UK plug hard wired to the transformer that is incompatible with Australian power outlets. You will need to source either a bulky UK/AUS adaptor to connect to power outlet OR a different transformer with an Australian power plug. I 'borrowed' a transformer with compatible specs (12V/2amp) from a PVR already in the home. Thereafter the installation and setup went well enough.
