Excellent, durable, traditional "timeless" piece...with one exception
I used to have a Timex Ironman some years ago, and I literally wore it out and nothing ever malfunctioned. The screen was too scratched, the case was too dinged, and I had installed a stainless strap long before that condition was reached. It was just time to bin it for a new watch. Bought a lovely mechanical Seiko with a custom Strap Code band. Couple years later I really miss the features and convenience of the Timex Ironman. I did some research on the newer updated models and went ahead and bought another. I can say, everything I really appreciated about the old Ironman is retained in the new one, plus some fresh appearance and functional bits (negative style Indiglo light, with positive style lcd). Love most everything about it, that I can trust it, that it's quartz accuracy, that the battery life is acceptably long, that I have convenient timing count-up and down features with a couple intuitive presses of buttons. Love it. It's not too big and not too small for my small-ish wrists. I'm not into the fading trend behemoth-sized watch faces today. The exception is the strap. Everything about the rubber strap works very well and I can see it lasting a very long time. However, it has a tendency to rotate (cant sideways) on my somewhat smaller wrists. This is typically due (based on my metal strap experiences) to the fact the non-buckle side strap is too long in relation to the receiving buckle-side strap. This puts the buckle too far beneath the wrist and without running too tight, it causes the watch to cant to the outside of my wrists especially since I'm a desk job worker and lay my arm on the surface, compressing the tail portion of the strap. If the strap was designed to move the buckle closer to the thumb-side of the wrist, it would be near perfect. Straps are galore aftermarket. Not a problem that cannot be solved. Just an observation. Very satisfied with the Ironman. All the convenience features I desire, none of the complicated nonsense I don't. Please don't mess up the formula, Timex, but design rubber straps with a shorter length on the non-buckle side. Most wrists could benefit from that, I feel.

Great watches
I’ve bought these multiple times. I usually only retire one when I’ve repeatedly exposed it to harsh chemicals to the point of damaging the watch case (not the watche’s fault). I still have old ones that I’ve replaced and the actual mechanism still works fine.

Great watch; but why the triangle screws?
I have been using these watches for many years with very good luck, and would normally give them 5 stars. They are comfortable, waterproof, durable, and have an alarm and a countdown timer. (The waterproof and countdown timer - that can be set to repeat - make them good for sailboat racing, and these are much cheaper than sailing watches. ) But at some point before the watch breaks, the battery will die. It is not hard to replace the battery. Except now the watch comes with triangle head screws holding the back on, rather than the regular phillips head screws they used to have. Why? Is it that important to keep people from opening up their watch? Making things harder to fix is a step in the wrong direction. Knocking off one star for that.

Solid watch
This review is for the Timex Ironman Black/Red accent. The watch is typical band, that rubbery feel band. Comfort is fine to me. Style wise, I picked this over several less appealing styles. its not totally circular, or squarish. It should be fairly easy to clean, and I usually wipe it down once a week or so. Will fit as long as your arm isnt as beefy as Popeye. Setting time in theory is simple, no instructions needed. Was a little tricky though, as I was using my phone as reference to try and set exactly. Problem is getting used to the button and which to press when. I spent a good 5min alone navigating the time setings, until I could get within 15 seconds of the phones time and finally set it. Setting the Month/Day was similar to time, but obviously easier because you arent trying to set to match down to seconds as close as possible. I do wish the indiglo backlight was a bit stronger at least. Its worthless during day time obviously. In dark, is useable, but feels too dim in my opinion. I suppose its to ensure it doesnt waste battery power, but I am not so worried about wasting power for a watch. I have not setup the alarms so have no comment on them. Price wise, style, useablity, and compared to similar priced equivalents, its a buy

Amazing quality and well worth it!!!
Great watch! My son saw his friend have and was impressed so I got him one! This one doesn’t have a connection point from the band to the watch so it can’t break there which has been the issues with all his other watches. This is easy to setup and use! It worked so great that I got one for my other son! They both say the size and options are perfect! Highly recommend!

Reliable and Accurate
This is one of the best Timex Tri watches. It holds up very well in wet or dirty conditions, and the battery lasts a long time. When they finally lose some functions, I just buy a new one.

Quick review initially - Great Watch!
Hopefully I can provide the information that I was looking for when buying a new sport watch. My wrist measures 7.5", and this band fits fine. There are even 2 additional slots before this wouldn't fit on someone's wrist. I did not need to cut anything off of the band because it was too long. The watch does not seem overwhelming on my wrist, and because of the design, it lays nicely and comfortably against my wrist. Other watches I've tried sit up high, but this watch face has a nice transition with the wristband. The end of the band also has a protrusion that helps it stay connected securing the extra band length. I've never seen that it other watches. I think the display is a clear and a great size without too many unnecessary functions, yet this watch has MANY functions (see the watch description for how many things this watch can do). If I can find any fault, the "night light" function is really poor. When in the dark, it's hard to read this watch. I plan to use this during the day during activities so that won't matter to me. I've had no experience under water, but beyond that, I would highly recommend this watch as a reasonably priced sports watch.

Alarme !!!
