Works well, probably adequately durable.
Looking for a barb end shraeder hose adapter, on Amazon I could only find this unit and a Silca brand. My first impression was to go with the Silca, as they have been around forever, make high quality parts, and their connector was nickle plated brass. This adapter is listed as 6061 -T6 aluminum, which sounds impressive, but really is the most common form of aluminum used, and has about 1/2 the hardness and strength of 6065 Aluminum. And is a stretch to say it is as 'strong' as brass, as there are a dozen or so ways of measuring strength. 7075-T7 maybe, but not 6061. But then, reality set in: My wallet already hemorrhages money into my TRI bike without needing an additional outlet! The Silca adapter is 2 1/2 times the price of this unit, plus another 7 dollars shipping if I don't want to wait 2 weeks. And 6061 aluminum is probably just fine in my application, where the barb will be secured in a hose, and a pig tail chuck threaded onto the connector will never be removed until something fails. Not like the alloy is meant for use in a spoke nipple or disk brake wheel hub. So without a lot of mechanical flexing, I figured this would be just fine for my use. It arrived in a sealed zip lock bag, was nicely finished, inserted easily into the hose and secured nicely with the plastic hose clamp I bought at the hardware store. The shraeder valve chuck I attached threaded on nicely, without binding, and there were no leaks. It probably isn't as strong as the Silca, but it is a LOT less expensive, and seems just fine for my purposes.

1/4" Schrader, 3/16 barb. Works fine.
The title is misleading, as many commentators have noted. The Schrader threads are the common nominally 1/4" size, but the barb is actually much closer to 3/16. The major diameter of the barbs is 0.211", the minor diameter is 180. Note that it is impossible to remove this style of fitting without losing some air: at least I can't unscrew it fast enough to not lose some air. This is not a fault of the fitting.

This is what you need for wheelbarrows and power mower tires!
The modern push on tire fillers are very hard to use on utility tires. You need to use this old-fashioned screw on adaptor like we used in the '50s on our bicycles! You will loose a nominal amount when unscrewing this the loss is minimal.

Does the job
What's the little part is made of good material and does what it's supposed to. No leaks seals easy. Easy to install.

Not intended for 1/4" ID hose.
I'm disappointed that these are listed as fitting 1/4" ID hose...they don't. Measured barb diameter is 0.220", so it offered no resistance to my 1/4" ID polyurethane hose (confirmed ID at 0.25"ยฑ0.03"). I bought 8 of them, so I don't believe the sizing is a fluke. Hose barbs are intended to friction-fit the hose to some degree; these require the hose clamp to provide 100% of the friction. As for the product quality; seems ok. A lot lighter weight than I expected...not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I'm used to brass fittings, so I worry if the barb could snap off from the head under the wrong condition, or if the threads will soften or crossthread easily given the light material. I'm not familiar with other Prestacycle parts or products to know if this is material use is normal or reliable, though. It does fit Schrader valves fine, and is an "open" type chuck. Given the loose hose fitment and lightweight material, I can't chance it for my application, but it probably works fine for light-duty inflation needs.

Many uses
Many uses where venting or filling pressure is required. Used as a vent in vex robotics pnuenatucs system and venting fuel injection manifold to drain fuel

Not 1/4โ barb
The product was what I was looking for however the barb is smaller than advertised. I am hoping it will work for my project. Not a air pump.
