Funny Spiritual Crafts to Make

This book has some really funny crafts to make, most of them easy. They are spiritual but you need to have a sense of humor to appreciate them! I thought it was great and do plan to make some of the projects. Others I just liked looking at for inspiration!

If you have a sense of humor about Christianity, ...

If you have a sense of humor about Christianity, then this book is hilarious! Detailed instructions on making something for the tongue-in-cheek Christian, from the Santa Claus is Coming to Town Nativity, to the War on Christmas Action Figures to the Fedora of Thorns. I'm not sure I'll make anything in this book, but I still adore it, because the projects are just so silly and ridiculous and clever.

Not Recommended.

I would give this book a Zero. Tapestry details on the back pockets of a pair of jeans, replete with a wood-burned leather patch proclaiming, "Jesus loves my ass"? I don't think so. A fedora with a crown of thorns? Depends on whether you're going for gay or poser. The "Daily Bread Plates" are unappetizing at best. Bloodied Christian martyrs on the supper table? May as well serve cold puke on them. While the ""Infant-of-Prague" made from a doll is rather endearing, the bundt pan as a caddy screams tacky. Overall, Ross MacDonald seems to mock Christianity. I'm not especially religious, but this book really goes beyond the pale.

Was funny in certain parts

Received this as a birthday present. Was funny in certain parts, but just not enough in the way that I had hoped. Good thing I got a gift receipt...

Ross MacDonald Does It Again! by Max Stanley

Reminiscent of the brilliant parody that Ross MacDonald did with James Victore back in 2011 -- "In and Out With Dick and Jane," MacDonald's latest effort, "What Would Jesus Craft?" is, above all else, respectful of its subject. Jesus was, after all, a carpenter and, more than likely, an arts-and-crafts kind of guy. I marveled at the creativity involved in the creation of the "simple projects" featured in this volume. Some of my favorites:the Infant-Of-Prague Lucky Lottery Ticket Caddy (made with a Kewpie doll and a Bundt pan); the Let There Be Light Switches; the Guardian Angel Backup Roll Cozy (my wife wants to make that one!); and, of course, the Jesus Jean Jacket, an instant classic. MacDonald is also a terrific writer, and the text is hilarious, but reverent--a difficult combination, to be sure, but somehow he pulls it off. Hopefully this will be the first of several volumes.

Amusingly Funny

Hilarious! I grew up very Catholic and now teach religion to 5th graders at our Catholic Church, I stumbled upon this book in the library and shared it with all my friends from Catholic grade school we had a great time reading this book together! I think the nuns had us make some of this stuff back in the 70's. This book is a hoot!

The Perfect Gift

This book is hilarious. I love every idea from the Lord Board sandals all the way up to the Fedora of Thorns. It's the perfect gift for all the Christians on your list. I only wish I had more time to make everyone a Last Supper lunch box.
