Great Scotch - Not Peaty
If you like peatiness, this scotch is not for you. It is very flavorful and has smokiness, but if you need the peatiness you may have to eat a handful of grass instead. I bought this as a gift, but got another for myself. Delicious. Very smooth and easy to drink neat or on ice. I cannot stand overly peaty scotch so this was a perfect drink.

sippable or mixable
This single malt is good enough to drink neat or on ice, and I also use it to mix my favorite cocktails (Penicillin, Scotch Egg) -- what a difference a good base of this stuff makes. Beautiful.

Smooth and tasty
Glenmorangie is darn good in general, and this 10yr is no exception. Mixes well with coffee, tea or ginger beer and makes a good sazerac too. I mean, anything referenced by name in "Highlander" has to be good :-)

Glenmorangie 10: The Ultimate - at least under $150
I say Glenmorangie (GM) 10 years old is the best under $150 only because I've never tried anything that cost more than that. (My wallet isn't that thick.)I've been drinking Scotch whisky for 42 years. Some selections have been good - even very good, like Dewars 18, a blend. Some - not enough - have been perfectly enjoyable in their way, like Dalmore. And many are best forgotten. The GM 10 is the only whisky I've bought that's without any flaw I can detect. (GM sells more expensive, longer or differently aged, whisky. From what I've read, these offerings are inferior to the basic "10".) Its "nose" leaves you in a state of high anticipation; its taste is superbly smooth; and its after-taste is so sweet - in a fine-scotch whisky sort of way - that you don't want it to go away. Ever! Many of us probably can't afford the GM 10 for everyday scotch. I can't. Don't let that discourage you. Swallow hard (so to speak) and buy a bottle. Drink some from time to time: during the visit of a good friend, or on a quiet evening while reading a good book and listening to your Miles Davis CDs. You won't regret it.Added: I buy my spirits at the local state-operated store. And I notice that Amazon (through a 3rd party) sells this and other Glenmorangie offerings for WAY less than I pay. Don't know exactly how that works. But obviously, if there are no "catches," that shifts the paradigm considerably.

Very enjoyable whiskey
To begin with, I am no expert in the field, and I have pretty limited range of experience. That being said, I love Glenmorangie Original. It has wonderful aroma and complex flavors. I don't know all the proper lingo, I'm afraid, but it has sweetness and smokiness and a little citrus, maybe? It is light and not peaty. The finish is long and lovely. When you roll this whiskey around your mouth a bit, the "mouth feel" is very rich and pleasant. This is a far more complex drink than American or Canadian whiskeys and a bit richer than Glenlivet, the Scotch I met first.
