Great intro Karaoke machine that works great, good sound quality, has lots of features, and did not cost me a fortune.
I purchased the Memorex MKS-SS2 SingStand 2 Home Karaoke System as a intro home karaoke machine. The unit arrived generously packaged with foam and was easy to assemble. The unit comes with 1 microphone with 1/4" plug. The microphone quality is average but there is an additional microphone input to connect alternative mics. There is also a guitar input. The sound controls have preamp volume controls for 2 mics and the guitar input. Reverb effect is adjustable and colors all channel inputs. A main output knob controls the speaker volume which at max can distort the sound if someone yells into the microphone. A stereo input with included stereo to stereo connector easily attaches to an ipod, cell phone, or any audio out device to provide music to sing along with. The clarity of the sound is good for a intro machine and it can easily fill a 30x30 foot room with sound. The kids love it and it doesn't cost a fortune. Nearly a year later it still works well, wish it had a on indicator light and leaving it on for days is easy to miss. The accessory mic holder on the main pole did not last long but the base, pole and upper device holder with mic holder are rock solid.

GREAT Purchase, great quality and fun for the whole family, even little ones!
We bought this after having to return a poor quality kid-themed microphone that we originally purchased, we should have started out with this one. It was meant for our 3 yr old daughter, and although she's way too short to reach the top mic holder, there is a bottom one that she can reach and the cord is very long so she can walk and dance with it. We bought a second mic for our 6 yr old son to sing with her and they both LOVE it. They can both easily work it themselves and the love the echo feature. It also has enough features that this is a great karaoke machine for adults! I love that it has the ipad holder and smaller iphone "pocket" so you can listen/sing to mp3s too. I was really impressed with the sound quality and features for the price, and I think this will be a great source of fun for our whole family for years. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Versatile, Accessible, Easy To Set Up
Bought this after reading a lot of the reviews. I haven't had a chance yet to play with all of the configuration possibilities, but based on what I've tried, I'm pretty happy with how it works.I have a sound bar that is hooked up to my tv. I paired the youtube on my iphone with my xbox 360 youtube app (I've seen this done with Roku as well, so I'm sure there is a lot of ways to do this). When I played the youtube (karaoke) video on my phone, it played on the xbox/tv, and the sound of the song was playing through the sound bar (via the tv). This configuration required no wires from the SingStand to the tv.Meanwhile, I set up and plugged in the microphone and turned up the volume to my liking on the SingStand. Then we sang with the output of our microphones being played through the speakers on the SingStand base. I found the dock where tablets/phones could sit to be a fairly small and awkward setup, reading lyrics on a smaller iphone while trying to sing might be difficult for some. The power cord + the mic cords + the media-in cord makes could also make for an unorganized/messy situation as well. However, I've read that some reviewers have figured out ways to make wireless microphones work. The advantage of the way I set it up was that I was able to see the lyrics on a big screen, allowing for mobility/dancing while singing the songs. Also, the music was coming through a more quality audio environment. The disadvantage (maybe, didn't bother us), was that the mic output and the song output were coming from different sources/speakers. As some reviewers have mentioned , you can redirect the sound from the SingStand to some other device by using the headphones jack, I just didn't have the proper cords/adapters to try this with my sound bar.I found the volume coming from the SingStand to be more than adequate for a home living space when I was using just the microphones. The microphone that came packaged with it was fine, but I could see wanting to upgrade that. I've read that some reviewers have considered this product to be inadequate for adults, but I don't find that to be the case. However, when using the speakers from the SingStand to play music (instead of through my sound bar), I could see how it could not be loud enough or have a slightly muffled sound. The SingStand has plenty of versatility in terms of how you can set it up, the price is definitely great for this product, and I think it is great for adults and children. There are more sophisticated options, but if you just want to have a casual karaoke night at home or with small groups, I don't think you need anything more fancy than this.

Great machine - Just add smart device and an app or two!
This Karaoke machine stand was a much wished for and anticipated gift for my teenage daughter. Now that it has been in the house for a few years I have to say I am very impressed with it. It has survived a move down the east coast with no damage and has been used by many small children all without sign of wear, this machine can really stand up to being used and handled hard!It doesn't have built in songs if you are looking for that but getting a karaoke app in a smart phone or tablet is in fact child's play these days and of course those apps come with all the bells and whistles one could want. This machine plays the music, is the stand, and the mic and has some features of it's own in case your not playing strictly karaoke music to make the experience more karaoke like.As mentioned, the teenager loves it as do the younger kids. Friends and family have enjoyed it too, though perhaps not some of the howling a few of us have shared on it so much. My husband even sang romantically to me on it making all the kids run and dash for cover. I think my own father blushed that day!If you are looking for a gift, I highly recommend getting this set up. Nothing else needed but a smart device and an app or two.
