Great product, will buy again!
This is a great seed starting medium, for ALL garden seed types. We also use it to transplant seedlings & plants, to lessen the shock. Works great! Will definitely buy more!

Great Product
This is an awesome seed starter. Three days after planting sprouts were 1 centimeter. Nine days they were 2 1/2 centimeterโs. I recommend.

Seeds love it!
Great soil! One 8qt bag is enough to fill about two 72 cell count seedling trays. My peppers germinated within just a few days, and this has enough nutrients to last the plant until transplant, could also be used for transplants from the seed cells into 3-4" pots until ready for final soil mix (raised bed mix from COM is what I use). However, I will be buying a bigger bag next time. Highly recommend!

It works!!
The seller of my hot pepper seeds recommended this product. I planted some seeds in it 3 weeks ago and they've germinated - not at all like last year in plain potting soil. Highly recommended - for any midwestern gardener who likes to start flower or veggie seeds indoors in March.

Very heavy not like any other seed starting mixes but works great
The soil is lovely, dark, rich looking but also very heavy compared to the other seed starting mixes I have used. Found chunks of solid stuff that had to be removed when planting seeds. May work well for cuttings but look elsewhere for seed starting. Edited to add: wow was I wrong about this mix. I have some of the healthiest seedlings that I have had coming up easily in it.

Weighs about 40lbs +
When coming to give my review I thought I'd check for more details I missed before doing so. First off, shockingly, When I saw that for 2 cu ft that it weighs 4.4lbs. It's 40lbs and thats being conservative. I checked the COM website and it states 40lbs which might matter to some if they can't see the fine details. I can only say what I received and it's completely dry, unlike elsewhere where they store outside in the rain. It's very light and fluffy which was what I had hoped. No chunks of wood material at all, just feathery light stuff. I do a 60/40 seed starter to vermeculite mix. I'm trying for the first time to do the water jug winter sowing and since it was going to rain I prepped my jugs added the soil and vermeculite then let mother nature do her job. It's looks and feel nice and absorbed the rain. I put holes about a 1/2 to 2/3 inch up from the bottom so the water will pool at the bottom so I don't have to water as often. I'd heard doing this method with holes on the very bottom they dry out very quickly. When I plant the seeds I'll be also using a Summit Mosquito Bits, mosquito/gnats water solution to sprinkle on top of soil in case there's any gnat eggs waiting to hatch. In my Update I give the recipe once I've finished in a few days. My only disappointment is that the price went up $10 since I ordered a few weeks ago. I'll just drive to my local (20 miles away) garden center and pick up some very wet but much cheaper bags of it. Next year I'll 2 or 3 bags. If it comes down before I go do a pick up then I'll buy from this vendor. My local is $32. Very fast and well packaged. Update: I upgraded to 5 stars because I find this product to be an excellent choice for planting and shouldn't be reflective in the price increase of it now being $8.xx increase from my original buy but wish I could get it in the smaller bags for easier transporting at a cost effective price. Next year....
