Works good
It took a few days to start catching flies, but after two weeks there's a noticeable difference in the number of flies flying around. After about a week or after a heavy rain, you do need to reapply the glue.

Ineffective
This item did not work for me. I put up three balls in locations where deer flies were most annoying. After a few days just a fly or two got trapped. There was more debris from leaves that stuck to it. Deer flies continued to be relentless. This was in the Adirondack park of NY state. I think this concept is more of a gimmick

Deer fly catcher
Just put out so hard to tell quite yet how well it works. Do have a few deer flies on it

Cost-effective and works!
We've been using a Horse Pal trap on our property for 10 years or more. It works on the same attraction principle. The problem is that, at over $300 a pop, we can't afford to put them all over the property. This year, we put 6 of these Bug Balls into service and WHAT A DIFFERENCE it has made! We noticed an almost overnight decline in the population of marsh/deer flies. At the end of the season, we can just hang them up in the rafters of our shed, re-apply Tanglefoot in the Spring and Bob's your uncle.

Over priced.
I know these work. I used blue solo cups and balloons in the past. I thought this would be a permanent solution but one of the balls won’t hold air and they are not much thicker than balloons. Just order the glue and make your own. Good product just overpriced.

they work - what more do you need to know...
Pump it up, spray on the 'sticky spray', and hang them in a place that will get a bit of sun (to warm up the ball, which is what attracts the little stinkers), and breeze (to make the ball sway a bit -- combination of 'heat' and 'movement' are the main triggers). I put up 3 of these at various places on my 3 acres, and honestly, haven't had a deer or horse fly problem since. After 8 weeks, both balls are completely covered with the bugs (so, I don't have flies to deal with because the balls work, not because I had no flies to begin with). If you can deal with the 'visual' (I refer to the them as 'death stars'), these are absolutely the best value for dollar I've found for biting fly control.

These do not work
We bought these at $54. What a waste. We put them up and sprayed the crap out them and hung one in the front acre the back acre and then by our turtle pond. There is no more sticky stuff on the balls and we've only had it up for 3 days. Not a single one has a yellow fly on it and there is no more sticky stuff on it.All the sticky stuff literally melted off. It all dripped to the bottom of the ball.We live in the sticks and I hate ordering things that don't work b.c we don't have a UPS store near us to send crappy items back.

WOW Amazing
For four years we haven't been able to sit around our pool and patio starting around May 1 through June 1. We installed these on the corners of our fence and we have had 90% less deer and black flies at our pool and patio. There are over 200 flys on each ball. This is really amazing and I highly recommend these for anyone with a fly issue.
