This will help when power goes out. It is NOT like a backup generator however it will keep power for several minutes. I have used APC for over 20 years and don't have one complaint. I have our large TV and dish receiver on this and when power goes out (which in my area can last for days) it protects my equipment until my home generator kicks in. If you wonder if it is worth it... Read the guarantee on APC products. They protect your equipment more than any others I have researched. As example, we had a huge power spike in my house. It fried my security system, furnace and 2 others. Any equipment I had on the APC was fine. I would suggest this product.

Great UPS devices. Would buy again. Currently own 3 of them. Make sure to open the panel on the bottom to connect the battery. Quality backup at a good price. Old one gave out, needed a new one. Got this and was east to setup, well made, makes no noise and pretty small in size.

The laptop is getting older, and the battery is not really holding a charge. I don't use it as a portable unit anymore so having a battery backup is necessary because if I lose what I am working on I would be really pissed.

I used to have the older version of the 850VA. It was a great buy back then. This one is just as high quality. I bought two - one for my entertainment equipment (modem, router, PS4, Roku, AppleTV, sound system) and another for my desktop PC (desktop, monitor, speakers). I downloaded and installed the PowerChute desktop software that connects to the backup battery to monitor its status. It works very well. After a full charge, it says the battery runtime would be anywhere from 23 minutes to 32 minutes. It all depends on how much stuff you have plugged in. It also gives you a little feature to calculate how much energy is being used by the battery supply. I tested both units by plugging in my devices, plugging in the unit to the outlet, powering on, and then removing the plug from the outlet. Not a blip with any of my devices. You can hear a small sound from the battery when it switches from AC to battery and back, that's normal. I live in Texas and the weather last week made me realize how unprepared I am for disasters. When power goes out, that doesn't mean the cable internet connection is also gone. I felt so vulnerable without a connection to the internet because the nearest cell tower also lost power. With my modem and router still on, my internet connection would remain on, giving me a chance to see what's going on online and then figure out a plan. Knowing that I have 30 minutes of backup power to get myself sorted makes me feel much more prepared. I will always use APC for this stuff. 100% reliable.

Love this product a have a few of those along my 1500 VAs and smaller ones are protecting my isolated workstations and to be honest with you they are great for this type of stuff if you have 800W+ power supplies in your systems then these are perfect for those but if you have 1200W+ then you should consider 1500 VA options. No issues with these supplies on my end and I love them! I also use these at work for workstation protection. Highly recommend for any stations that have power supplies lover than 1200 Watts.

I live in a remote, rural area right beside the Atlantic ocean. Needless to say, we have lots of electricity issues and outages in my region. It’s one thing to plan ahead for storms and make sure that things are unplugged or turned off when you have advanced notice, but unfortunately, it's the unexpected surges and brown outs that damage computers. Since getting this UPS, I never, ever worry about these issues because my APC UPS catches every single one of them with ease. With an average runtime of 20 to 30 minutes to save any open files and gracefully power the system off, I’ve no cause for undue concern anymore. Ya gotta luv the fact that you don’t need to junk the whole unit when the battery starts giving out - you just replace the battery. APC has been the go-to, most-relied-upon UPS manufacturer since many decades now; and for good reason! Housing a field replaceable battery and consistently delivering solid reliability makes this unit a very sensible choice. I highly recommend it!

I bought this to keep our wifi router working when the power goes out. It has worked consistently with no issues. No complaints whatsoever. I will definitely buy again when needed but hopefully that is not for quite some time.

Working well for my Laptop. Battery died & this will keep my laptop from crashing in a power outage. Tested with battery alone & kept power to my PC. Only did a short test though.
