Works Well
This drain tool works well on both the aluminum and plastic oil filter canister housings in newer and older Toyotas. I have cars ranging from 2008 to 2017 and the tool significantly reduces the mass associated with changing your oil filter. I should’ve gotten this year’s ago. You won’t be disappointed! When installing it just remember to back the lower nut all the way off towards the drain tube before installing. Once the upper part of the tool is screwed into the canister, then you advance the lower nut towards the canister. That starts the draining process.

Valuable purchase
After years of using the plastic drains that come with toyota canister filter, this tool was by far my favorite purchase. After failing to find a decently priced similar tool from Snap-On or Matco, MotivX came through. Quality material, ease of use and clean up are key components of this tool no matter how basic the design. If you're thinking about buying one and you work in the auto industry, you won't regret it.

Might want to cut it shorter
The flow is very slow. Another review said to cut the tube shorter. Didn't try cutting any off myself yet tho.

Amazing! Wish I had it sooner!
I finally got my first chance to use this drain tool. After multiple times of spilling a bunch of oil from the filter, and also getting the adapter stuck in the end of the oil filter housing a number of times, I had no spilled oil from the filter. And once I install my new fumoto drain, draining from the oil pan will be simpler too! I only wish they gave a little bit more instructions on how to use it as I didn't realize you just thread the textured piece into the hex nut until I did it on accident.

Don't trust cheap knock-offs. Buy Motivx quality that will last.
I want to start by thanking Motivx for investing in quality knowing full well that the quality means that their price will be higher than the cheap knock-offs. Motivx tools are designed in the US and, at least for the Toyota drain tool, made in Taiwan. That choice is confidence-inspiring because I know the thread tolerances are tight, the quality of the brass high, and most importantly, the Motivx guarantee real and true.So to the performance of the oil filter drain tool. For those 4Runner DIY oil changers out there, there is nothing more annoying than using that useless oil filter drain funnel that comes with each OEM filter kit. With or without it, you're going to get oil dripping down your arm, past your elbow to whatever shirt you're wearing. It's a mess! The oil filter drain tool solves this problem, insuring that before you remove the filter, the oil has drained into the catch pan and not down your arm. Brilliant!Don't support the Cheap Ch.. Knock-offs. Just don't do it. Buy quality once and support those who developed these innovative tools!

A good tool - IF you cut the drain hose as short as possible
This tool works well and avoids an otherwise messy job -- IF you shorten the drain hose so that it just reaches the drain pan. If you try to use the tool with the full-length hose out of the box, there isn't enough pressure to overcome the "leg" of oil that will back up in the hose. In that case, you end up with an incompletely drained filter housing and a hose full of oil -- and a mess. Just cut the hose to the minimum length needed to reach your target pan. Recommended as the way to deal with Toyota's annoying oil filter change process.

Makes the job less messy
It all depends on how you do your oil change. If you want to least mess, most professional experience, use this tool. If not, it really is optional. If you are like me and started self servicing your vehicles after years of dealership services, this tool may be completely unnecessary. The dealership so over-torqued the stud covering the drain hole, that it's no longer removable without taking off the whole filter cap. Wish I would've known before purchasing. Keeping for when I eventually buy a replacement cap, as it is plastic, and bound to fail in a few years.
