It is what they say it is!!
I've had others try to sell this drive and end up getting a used hard drive.Bought 4, The shipping was fast, SMART table showed they were new. Threw them in the server and all of the worked perfect. Only con is the price dropped by $30 2 weeks later. Think i'll by 2 more.

Watch out for used drives sold as new
Bought this model of HGST drive from both Ebay and Amazon as new drives, but end up with drives running for about 2.5~3 years. The data RW is between 8~73TB, which is really not a lot. It's just whether if it's worth the price to gamble on the quality of an used SAS drive vs a new SATA drive. Good communication with the seller and he seems recognize his supplier's problem.

7 years old
The hard drive I received was manufactured in Nov 2015! It should should be listed as NOS - New Old Stock.Needless to say it was DOA. Maybe I should have looked at the image in the listing a little closer - Feb 2017....

Good Drives but Not New
I ended up buying 3 of these drives for a freenas server. All 3 were good drives with no bad sectors or other problems but they are NOT new drives. All 3 drives have over 22,000 hours on them. One drive had the power on hours zeroed out but all the self test logs are still in the smart table and the other 2 did not have the hours zeroed. I ended up keeping them because I really needed them and the hours are not excessive. They are good drives but in my case not new as advertised.

Nice Fast Drives for FreeNAS
These are great for my home NAS setup. They are quick for a home NAS and were a good price. I am very happy with the purchase.

Drive is DOA
First drive was DOA, not detected by the system and bad sounds from within. Not necessarily blaming the seller as it could have happened in shipping. I have a replacement coming and I'll update this review when that comesEdit: replacement was a good drive

Great Drives, Not SMR
Drives came as advertised, manufactured in Mar 2017. Judging by the random write performance, the drives seem to be CMR.
