Just what I needed to fill my small 18” round fire pit. I wasn’t sure it would be enough stones, but it was perfect! Very nice looking. Retain and emit heat extremely well!

Great quality and size is as expected. Just not black at all. Mostly gray which is unfortunate.

So pretty, but didn’t stay that way long. These turned black on our first use.

The media could not be loaded. Purchased the 2-3 inch 20lb bag and it came with about 54 stones varying in size and mostly a charcoal to light grey appearance. Each were about the size of a small potato and was very happy on how they came together. This was enough the fill the space and not be overcrowded. I did have about 4 stones that were charred upon first use so I moved those on the outer edge away from the flames. I also didn’t apply any rocks over the fire channel to avoid any pieces getting too hot and exploding/charring like a few have mentioned. May edit review should we hear any cracking or experience any exploding rocks.

The media could not be loaded. I liked the idea of lava rocks better than glass, which worked out great. I love this size since it is big enough for some presence but small enough to form around and hide the fire ring easily. It also diffuses the flame for a more natural and pleasing look.

Our neighbor forewarned us that these rocks explode with the fire on… I loved the look of them so much, I figured she must’ve bought a bad batch, so I purchased 4 bags anyways. Sitting around the fire it didn’t take more than 10min for them to start exploding with multiple going off at the same time, literally shooting up & over our shoulders, instantly burning into our brand new turf which is where they still lay permanently today. I had my 8lb dog on my lap and we were frantic to turn the fire off asap thinking him or us would have one explode towards in our faces. These are so dangerous & should be used for looks only, not ignited in a fireplace. We feel lucky we didn’t get hurt. And now…. Hundreds of dollars of black rock (they immediately discolor) sit in the nice custom firepit we had made for nice AZ nights and we can’t use it. I wish we would’ve listened to our neighbor! I can only imagine the law suits that are to come with unfortunate occurrences of people having their eye taken out not knowing the harm these can cause. Forewarned!!!!!
