Small Profile Exactly What I Want, Very Compact With Good Capacity, Not Exceptionally Fast For A USB 3.0 Drive
I am very pleased with this Samsung 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive based on how I am using it in my car. Speed is not an important factor for serving my music library to my car audio and it works perfectly in that application. The small size of this drive makes it less likely to get damaged by accident. Before using it I ran a CrystalDiskMark 5.1.2 benchmark. Sequential reads/writes were about 131MB/72MB while random read/write was much slower at 4.5MB/1.7MB. Those are per second. This isn't a blazing fast USB flash drive, but it's faster by about 3X than USB 2.0 flash drives I've owned. For me the form factor was a major consideration. In my car the USB plug is in a inexplicably exposed location. I larger drive sticking out would be easier for someone to notice and maybe take, It would also be more susceptible to getting wacked and broken as I am often moving things from the passenger side (like my notebook case, briefcase, etc.) across the center console (where the USB plug is located) when I'm out visiting clients. In use my car audio recognized the USB as a mass storage device immediately and found the music files (about 19 days of music plus audio books). Playback has been flawless with just a little lag when skipping tunes in random mode (a lot of files to index). Another factor for me is the Samsung brand. I've had good luck with other Samsung flash products and this was a factor in getting this vs. a similar drive in another brand. Good experiences with a brand makes a difference in my confidence in the product, but I understand it may not matter for everyone. In conclusion, this is a kind of average performing USB 3.0 Flash drive in a very compact format. Speed isn't a significant factor in serving MP3 files to my audio player. If you are a techie and want a very compact drive to use as a bootable troubleshooting tool this could be good there too. This nubbin of a drive does everything I need in a form factor I like. I think this makes this little workhorse drive worth 5 stars to me.

Small, High Capacity, NO HEAT ISSUES
This is a great little flash drive. My second 128GB capacity USB 3 flash drive and my first of this smaller form factor. I have been loosely testing it on my Windows 7 computer. It shows up as 119GB for me but that will vary slightly for people depending on your computer and OS. The drive looks very small and sleek. It seems like high quality plastics and what I assume is aluminum is used to make this drive. It seems sturdy enough to attach to my keys or throw in my bag. It is 19mm long and 15mm wide at tallest and longest points. It is impressively small and even more so considering the speeds I got in my loose testing. Moving a 1.77GB file to it took an average of 36 seconds which means it would take under 40 minutes to fill the 119GB on average using USB 3 on my computer. Moving that same file from the drive to my computer took an average of 6 seconds which means it would take less than 6 minutes to transfer the full 119GB through USB 3 on my computer. The speeds were good, surprisingly so. Compared to my full sized sandisk USB 3 128GB flash drive it was much faster in write speed and a barely slower in read. It took my Sandisk drive a 1m38s to write that same 1.77GB file and 5 seconds to read it. It was a very non technical test but the results look great for the Samsung drive speeds. I had considered buying the small form factor Sandisk 128GB USB 3 flash drive for a while but was slightly turned off by how many reviewers wrote of the excessive heat it gave off after extended use or just being plugged in for long periods of time. I have bought only Sandisk drives for years after previous mixed experience with other drives like Lexar and PNY. I like the Sandisk drives, they have been affordable and reliable in the time that I have used them and although I have no experience with the small Sandisk drives, the possible heat issues turned me away from that specific drive. After playing a video file for an hour off of this drive, I found it was a little warm but no excessive heat anywhere on the drive. The size of this drive makes it perfect for plugging into compatible stereos, portability, and as extra storage for laptops that you can leave plugged in. I will be using this primarily for storage but appreciate the size for portability. My only issues with this drive have little to do with the drive or its performance but the accessories and the lack thereof. This drive comes with nothing. There is no secure software on the drive itself and it does not come with a plastic cap to cover the port. More importantly, although it does have a small hole to attach a small lanyard or keyring, it does not come with either. What you see here is exactly what you get and that for the most part turns out to be great when you consider price, form factor, capacity, and performance. Despite my minor gripes, the drive is great and I'm very satisfied with it so far. Time will tell if it is durable or reliable enough for the long haul but I will update my review should it not. For anything under $40 in late 2015, I think this is a great drive and have no problem recommending it.

Small, Quick and Cool.....
I bought this to add to a work laptop to be able to backup my outlook .pst files. The drive is unobtrusive and can be left in the USB port at all times, including taking the laptop in and out my bag, without a problem. The packaging says Water Proof, Shock Proof, Magnet Proof, Temperature Proof, X-ray Proof. I've tested the claimed shock proof, magnet proof and x-ray proof and temperature proof. All of these passed with flying colors. I haven't tested the claimed water proof because I haven't gotten up the nerve yet. :) I had considered buying the small form factor Sandisk 64GB USB 3 flash drive for a while but was slightly turned off by the reviews of excessive heat it gives off after extended use or just being plugged in for long periods of time. I have bought Sandisk drives for years and I like the drives. They have been affordable and reliable in the time that I have used them and although I have no experience with the larger Sandisk drives, the possible heat issues turned me away from those specific drives. After playing a video file for nearly 2 hours off of this drive, I found it was a little warm but no excessive heat anywhere on the drive. In summary, this is a great USB flash drive. It's fast and runs cooler than it's competitors!

Fast. Typical Flash Drive, just not for OS use Like Win2Go
So i have been using this device for a few days, and putting it through a few bits of stress, although not a ton. Mainly, i will say, I love the form factor. Its size alone is enough to make me want to buy a few of these (well, maybe one more, being that i have a 128GB coming in the mail) Theres a few good sides but also bad. Yes, these things are very fast when transferring files, however only in a LIMITED linear way. >Games from Steam (Warframe, Final Fantasy VIII, Cities skylines, S4 league) All work fine, so far. >Write speed can get up to 110MB/s and read can get as high as 140MB/s. >Read speeds seem far more consistent. Write speeds seem to vary, especially if you are attempting to write more than one file at a time on this drive. (I suppose its due to no cache but this drive goes from an average of like 100MB/s to 30 when doing two transfers, and then anything higher than that, it drops to near zero. So please just do one at a time. >Works typically like a flash drive, without really too much issue, and very fast which is a plus. >You cannot get the advertised speed if you are attempting to load a ton of small files from it concurrently, or attempting to run an OS like Widnows (LOL) or using this as a Linux boot drive. Btw, please don't use this for windows. it is a nightmare. and before someone downvotes this, please look up WindowsToGo, there are free solutions that do that as well, but windows is too much for this drive. There would be massive latency spikes of an upwards of 5seconds just to access this drive running windows, and thats partly due to the write speeds being much more poor compared to reading. (Surprisingly Windows boots, perfectly fine, just writing tot he drive, updates etc kills it) Oh, and lastly. It has not heated up, like people were complaining about the sandisk drives. The only time this one got warm was when it was in my laptop, and that thing is a firecracker anyway for always overheating. So i discount that mainly because the whole side of the unit was warm.

Perfect temporary boot drive for my MacBook Pro
I just received this flash drive this morning, and my use case is a little different from normal. The SSD in my MacBook Pro died, and I really didn't feel like spending $300 to replace it right now. I bought this for the sole purpose of installing OS X and being able to use my $2000 paperweight as a computer again. It obviously isn't as fast as the PCIe SSD in my computer, but for normal usage, it's working fine. Before this showed up, I used an older Silicon Power USB 3.0 drive to boot from temporarily, but it was only 64 GB, and honestly, it was turning my laptop into a space heater. The Samsung is also definitely faster. So far, the Samsung flash drive has gotten a little warm, but it hasn't gotten hot at all. The other downside with the drive I was using until today was that it stuck way too far out of the port. I was pretty concerned that I was going to end up breaking it off in the port. This one barely sticks out at all (see attached picture). Long story short, this drive will work perfectly well to run an operating system, and as long as you have a Mac with USB 3.0 ports, you shouldn't have to worry about speed at all.

A tiny way to significantly boost my Ultrabook's storage
It's small, doesn't get hot, and works perfectly on my ultrabook to expand storage space significantly. Since it's USB 3.0 it's fast enough to work as secondary storage, and I've got it permanently in place with no problems whatsoever. My only complaint is the LED light. I kind of wish they didn't put that on here, as I really don't need it and it would just light up the room when you're working in dim conditions. Also, if I had my way it would come in black as well as white. However, for the price, you can't do much better for a good USB 3.0 low-profile flash drive. EDIT: Well, silly me. I just assumed the thing on top was an LED because I'm getting used to them, and I even covered it up before I ever plugged it in, so I just went on thinking it was a light. As the Samsung folks explained, though, I was mistaken- It's not a light! It's just a hole for a lanyard. So mea culpa, I guess. I apologize for making the assumption. Because of this, I'm bumping the review up to five stars! And that'll teach me to just assume every little hole on an electronics device is an LED. Additionally, I want to thank Samsung for NOT putting an LED on this flash drive!!!

Does Not Have Heating Problem
This usb is actually very sturdy and well made. Has a hole in it to put a strap in it so you won't misplace it. It is very tiny and very easy to misplace. But I keep mines plugged in most of the time on my laptop. Pros: - Fast transfer speeds (many reviwers already included pictures of it so I won't) - It says 128gb but after it is formatted and everything It's actually 119gb. - It's a thumb drive which means it is very small and hardly in the way. Also since its small, it makes it very easy to leave it plugged into a laptop or desktop and leave it there without any issues. - 3.0 usb meaning it allows for a faster transfer rate if you have a 3.0 usb plug on your computer but also does a pretty good job on a 2.0 usb plug. - DOES NOT OVER HEAT OR GET HOT! I had the SanDisk 128gb for less than a month and I would leave it plugged into my laptop and it would do two things, drain my laptop battery and litterally get extremely hot to the point where it is hard to touch with bare hands. This samsung usb does get a bit warm and that was after 6hrs of use (transfering data from old 128gb SanDisk to this samsung 128gb) 4hrs of transfering files and 2hrs of just idling and using my computer. Cons: - None For this price, this transfer speed, this small, and this much space without overheating issues you can't go wrong.

Got 2: one dead, one molasses
After my >$1k PC laptop died, I resolved to only buy inexpensive laptops & keep my local data and portable programs on a USB 3.0 low-profile drive. This worked great for two years using Sandisk 64gb Fit drives. They ran hot, but they worked. A few months back I decided to step up to the 128gb versions. I bought 2 Sandisk 128gb Fit plugs, but they ran even hotter and started developing read errors. That made me nervous so last week I stepped up to two Samsung 128gb fit plugs. After working ok for 24 hours, the first one failed with total data loss. Thinking it might have been something I did, I tried to reformat it, but whenever I plugged it in, it completely froze my PC. I managed to reformat it on another PC, this time to NTFS, thinking I'd sacrifice some speed for data integrity. That took forever, and in the meantime, I quick-formatted my second Samsung 128gb plug to NTFS. I got that one up and running and did some tests copying a folder of portable utilities: IMO pretty typical mix of large and small files. Here are the results: Bad Samsung 128gb: 0.82 GB/s "Good" Samsung 128gb: 1.89 GB/s Sandisk 64gb: 3.78 GB/s Sending back both the Samsungs. The "good" one looks clearly better than bad one, but still no deal at half the throughput of the hot-running Sandisk 64gb, plus the lack of confidence due to potential data loss. I wish there were a good 128gb plug on the market, but Sandisk seems to have withdrawn--not fixed--its 128gb version. So it's back to 64gb :-(. What has worked best for me is the Transcend 64GB JetFlash 710 USB 3.1/3.0 Flash Drive (TS64GJF710S) plug, but it's twice the price-per-throughput of the Sandisk 64gb plug :-(.

A great USB drive for vehicles
To get this out of the way - this is a small USB drive. It's very tiny. This is a feature and not something to complain about like some reviews have done. I only needed a USB drive for my truck stereo. I was previously using a larger, older USB drive that stuck out far enough that I worried about it getting snapped off. I purchased this and it is perfect for car/truck use. I loaded it up with music (no overheat detected on doing so) and plugged it in my truck stereo and it works great. The size makes it disappear into your stereo, eliminating the chance of it being hit or broken off. Also, the funny shaped end Samsung put on this isn't just an aesthetic choice they made, as it makes it easy to get a hold of to pull out of a stereo. The lack of activity light makes this ideal for vehicle use as well, as there's no flashing distraction (Lexars similar size stick has an obnoxious light). I cannot speak for other uses of the drive as I purchased this solely for use in a vehicle stereo, and to that end it works great.
