BougeRV 12V Refrigerator 53 Quart, Electric Car Cooler with MAX/ECO Mode

We purchased this cooler for a road to Alaska. We ordered it on short notice because the camper fridge din't want to cool unless the camper was perfectly level. We received it one day before leaving so we were hoping it work for us. On the trip, we noted that bagged ice was selling for $3.50 to $10 for a 5 pound bag. After 38 days on the road, we purchased ZERO bags of ice. The fridge worked without a hitch. It came with a 110v cord and a 12v plug. Some nights we moved it from the truck cab to the camper. It is a little heavy when it is full, but that is expected. The controls include 2 power draw settings. When we left inside the truck cab, we selected the lower power setting. We didn't notice any drop in cooling performance. The cooler does have a battery saver control that has 3 settings. It will prevent the cooler running your battery down. The cooler is rather large, it took about 3/4 of one of the rear seats. Again, sort of expected for its size. The cooler is rather deep so sometimes you have to dig down to find things on the bottom. The larger compartment has a pull out basket for when you just can't find that one thing in the bottom. The larger compartment does have a push in drain plug that makes for easy draining and cleaning. The fridge ad says it can go down to zero. We didn't test this, put we ran 35 degrees constantly with no issue.

I have had this freezer/frig for almost 8 months now. Have used it on several week long camping trips and it has not failed me yet. I have had it run on my 12v 100 amp Li iron po4 battery for 4 days(at zero degrees F) and the battery was down to about 29 % charge left. When not using it for camping we use to as an extra freezer and it has been running almost everyday of the last 8 months with no problems. You can hear it running but it is not very loud at all, no problem with sleeping and it in your camper. It cools down pretty fast, but think it would be better to have most items frozen first if you are using it as a freezer. I seldom use it as a frig. but functions fine in that mode. It has a smaller compartment that is frig. only and it stays about 15 degrees or so above the freezer. Items will freeze in that compartment if you leave the item for several days and the freezer at 0 degrees. When I first received the freezer/frig. I had trouble turning it on and adjusting the temperature. I was just pushing down on the "button area" and nothing happened no matter how hard I pushed or where I pushed. I was very upset and sent the company a "heated" email. They answered in a few hours with questions and suggestions, even offering to swap out the control panel-(plug and play I guess) or having me send the unit back to amazon. To make a long story short, they continued to contact me and with ideas for me to try. Finally by accident I pushed my thumb flat on the button and held it there and what do you know it turned off and on and I was able to adjust the temperature. Problem solved-use your thumb, you don't have to push hard and just leave it there till the display starts blinking-read the small owners booklet. Yes, I would buy another if I needed one and recommend this unit to you! Update 7-13-24: Just got back from an extended 2 week camping trip. The frig continues to impress me and worked great the whole time with minimum power consumption from my lithium 12v batteries. We still use it for an extra freezer at home on occasion and trips to Costco. Works wonderful and thinking about buying another one. Update 2-1-25: Had relatives come visit for 5 weeks and used the frig/freezer in our camper. Worked great and they thought it was "neat frig/freezer". I have had it for about 4 years now and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I bought this thing in April of 2021 and have been using it since the day I got it. That is over 5 years of continuous use. I keep drinks in it because it keeps them much colder than my refrigerator. I set the temp at 32 and it makes the ice cold. Rarely do I use it in a vehicle (but have and it works well) as it mainly stays plugged in via AC but…I am getting some battery backup units for hurricane prep and I will be able to go DC to DC for power on this unit. The unit is a little heavy so it helps to have a 2nd person assist moving it, especially if full of drinks. Mine stays in one spot. The cost of this unit compared to Dolemetic is huge. I really did not expect to get longevity out of this one but when I was sending the link to a friend I just realized how long I’ve had this. Felt it would be helpful to drop a review from someone who has had 5+ great years of use from this.

There are somethings that can be better, as with every product. For the price and great customer service its great to have for our needs. It's solid, comes with everything you need, and the freezer gets solid cold! Not much room in the fridge area, though. The seal on the lid can be replaced by a thicker one since it seems the temperature fluctuates a couple of degrees warmer from where you set it. This is great if you travel to have fresh foods. Meal prep and go. I was missing power plugs when I received it in Oct 2020. Customer service was on top of it, got the replacement within 2 days. Its worth the price. BougeRv also has some other great products we have used for our bus conversion since we feel safe if something goes wrong or missing.

Always let it sit for 24 hours after shipping! Now that that's out of the way, on to my praise. It's very easy to set up and use. It's very quiet. It gets cold extremely fast. It stays cold enough to not have to cycle on often. This is great for those of us on solar systems. It's footprint is small, but it's tall so there's a lot of capacity. I really like the separate area for things that didn't need to be as cold. It's deep enough for tall items to stand upright. The 2 year warranty and customer service support is nice to have. Be aware that the lid needs a little push to snap closed. Don't just let it drop and assume it's closed up tight.

I live in Florida where it feels like 110° in the shade every day. This bad boy keeps my drinks, groceries, etc nice and cold. Dual compartment is a nice feature as well. One side for refrigerated, one side for frozen stuff. If your on the fence, go ahead and pull trigger.

I have had two prior refrigerators from another manufacturer and they both failed just after 1 year. I had an extra warranty in the second one (because I learned my lesson) and got a replacement at almost exactly one year. They just seem to fail in a year of continuous use from those manufacturers. Very frustrating. But I still needed a refrigerator and an u willing to pay the price for ARB and other expensive brands, so I studied the reviews and warranties for other brands and ended up with a BougeRV. The refrigerator is nice. It does what it says. I have had it in continuous use since I received it (date above, presumably… more than a year). Now on my third refrigerator, I think the BougeRV one reaches and keeps temperature better than the last two I tried. Because of the reviews and extended warranty, I did not buy an extra warranty for the refrigerator—a substantial savings over the prior two. Now this is the most important part of my review. I did have an issue with my BougeRV refrigerator, recently. Not expecting much, I found the BougeRV website and asked for help via email. To my surprise, I got a quick email back. We corresponded about the problem, I tried suggesting troubleshooting steps, and BougeRV is sending a replacement. Just like that! No argument. No problems. What a breath of fresh air. These little fridges are not cheap and I was amazed to find out that prior reviews about product support were true. I think it is fair for a manufacturer to ask you to try some things to fix the problem but when that fails, they should honor their warranty. BougeRV does honor its warranty. I am old. I have been a prime member for a very long time. I don’t review every product we buy but I do generally review the ones that are happy or sad surprises. This was a happy surprise. I’m very impressed. BougeRV is a real company and stands behind their product. That should not be amazing, but in this day and age, it is. Definite two thumbs up. I have done dozens or hundreds of reviews. I have never gotten anything for any of them, including this one. This is information I would want to know, and if you have read this far, I hope it helps you.

I have not taken this on the road yet but have been testing it in the garage. Mostly bought this to freeze ice packs with a Jackery Home Power battery.. It takes 45 minutes to bring it to 0 degrees no matter what temp it starts at and freezes ice packs in a little over 10 hours. Not bad at all. Took 20% of the Jackery to do that and holds 12 ice packs. THREE STARS because the on/off switch doesn't work. Other than that it works great. LOL. I'll keep it.

Enfria muy bien los alimentos y bebidas y el consumo de energia es bastante razonable de acuerdo al tamaño. Un detalle que no me gusto son las agarraderas que son plegables y son muy duras y el agarre para transportarlo de un punto a otro se dificulta debido a ello. Otro detalle es que la tapa tiene mucho juego cuando esta abierta, pareciera que durara poco, ya veremos conforme se vaya usando.

J’en ai acheté 3, pas parce qu’elles ont fait défectuosité mais parce que je les adore. Je l’utilise sur mon voilier et à la maison. J’ai eu un problème de compresseur sur une et le service à la clientèle m’ont offert un service exceptionnel. Le fini esthétique est incroyable, le prix est excellent et elles ne consomment que très peu d’énergie. Je trouve dommage que les choix d’articles bougerv ne soient pas les memes Canada etats-unies. Je recommande sans hésitation. A quand les fours solaires?

This thing is awesome! I took it out on the boat with me and had ice cream and popsicles for the kids, couple cold ones for the old man and it ran perfectly off my second battery. Easy to use and keeps its cold extremely well. I do suggest that you put it in a shaded area to help it keep cold! It will still work in the sun, but it won’t work so hard! Great little unit. My only issue is the handles are so highly sprung, that you can’t get your hand under them!

Genuinely surprised at how well this thing works! Bought this as a last-minute need for a 2 week long camping trip in my truck camper. It just so happened to fit perfectly in the footwell behind the dinette. As for performance, it held up well. Due to power constraints, it was unplugged and plugged in constantly for a week until I got to my campsite with shore power. I set it to full power while it cooled down, and then eco-mode once it was reached. There was a point in the trip where I had to leave it unplugged for the night, and in the morning it hadn't gone up much in temperature - this was really impressive! As far as the time it takes for cooldown; I didn't time it but it would likely be pretty close to advertised. I used it mainly to keep my dogs' raw food frozen, and it did that perfectly. With a freezer in my camper the size of a toddlers' shoe box, I was able to actually be out on the road without worry of his food thawing prematurely. 1 caveat is the hinges for the handles. These things might as well be rat-traps, 'cause if your finger gets caught when they snap back, you might lose it. I'm over-exaggerating, but they are seriously strong. Overall, I would recommend this for anyone doing off-grid camping, longhaul trucking, that sort of thing. This could probably replace your fridge/freezer in a small camper.

For some reason, I thought BougeRV was a discount brand but this cooler top notch. Amazing design, engineering and build quality. I won't hesitate to buy some more BougeRV products.
