A timeless and beautiful ornament for the kitchen, functional and elegant.
A beautiful and functional ornament for the kitchen. This is a classic and well constructed piece with good aesthetics. It is large enough to hold about one stick of butter. It is used in conjunction with water in the base which help to preserve the butter - so make sure you don’t skip this step. We leave it on our counter and the butter has perfect softness and freshness, and we typically will keep it about one week on the counter without any issues.

So pretty! Totally functional - gold trims makes it an elegant little "art piece" on the counter
Love this. If a butter bell can add a touch of elegance to a kitchen, this is the one to do it. We had a black one that was just too dark for the kitchen. This is just so pretty, with the gold trim and matches various touches in our kitchen to keep a "dialogue" going aesthetically in the room :)

What every butter dish should be
What every butter dish should be. Keeps butter fresh but still soft and ready to spread. Beautiful too! So happy with this purchase!

If you love butter....
We're a Wisconsin family. We love butter, but we HATE cold butter. Everyone in the family loves the Butter Bell. When we sold our house to build a new one, our daughter stole the Bell. Moved in with our son for a time while looking for property so we bought another. When we left, he would not let us take the Bell. Now living with husband's parents near where the house is being built, we bought another, and my father-in-law has already announced that this one will not be leaving with us when we leave. He says it's the slickest butter dish he's ever seen. Keeps the butter soft and smooth regardless of seasonal temperature changes. Big thumbs up.

Best butter keeper Ive used
I've been waiting until I used this for a while before writing a review and now feel I can say I really love this butter keeper. It looks nice on the counter top, keeps softened butter looking and tasting fresher than a standard butter dish, and for some reason doesn't seem to attract crumbs and cat hair like my old butter dish did. I've had no trouble with the butter falling into the water or mold growing in it as a few other reviewers have complained of. (It's true that it's winter and I live in a mild climate, but we've had several unseasonably warm days and it's been fine--if that changes come August I'll update this review.) A few tips on using it: let the butter soften almost to spreading consistency, then pack it into the "bell" of the crock using a spoon. Make sure the inside of the bell is absolutely dry before packing in the butter, if it's damp the butter isn't going to stick to it like it should. Every second or third day I empty the water, rinse thoroughly with very hot water followed by a cool rinse, then fill using VERY cold, filtered water from the refrigerator and a pinch of salt. Works great!

Small
It’s so nice to butter my bread with soft butter. I’m still not confident enough to leave out longer than the day - my house stays much hotter in the summer so I put it in the fridge over night. Also once the butter fell out of the container into the water!?

For those of you who don't know what a butter bell is.
You can have soft, real butter by using a crock like this Butter Bell. It is kept outside the refrigerator and keeps the butter spreadable without rancidity (assuming you use it up in a few weeks?). You take a stick of butter, let it soften a little outside the refrigerator, then squish it into the top part of the Bell. You put a third of a cup of cold water in the bottom, and it acts like a seal to keep the air out, as I understand it. Apparently you don't have to put cold water in it everyday, although I renew the cold water every few days. It has worked well so far. No more putting hard chunks of butter on my morning toast!

Love it
Lifting a slippery lid from a butter dish can be a risky proposition and annoying as all get out. I often left the butter uncovered to avoid it. After several trial and errors with different butter dishes, I read a review of this butter bell in a cooking newsletter and after browsing a large selection of colors and designs I bought this one. It’s a bargain because I no longer a worry about the lid slipping out of my hand. The bonus is it looks so nice on my kitchen counter and my butter no longer gets too soft to stay on a knife or too hard to spread.

Great purchase
Love it! It inspired me to start making my own butter at home, and it keeps it nice and fresh, without the edges going that weird yellow some brands do once they are left in a regular butter dish over time. Well made butter bell, would absolutely purchase another should this one ever break

Attractive but small capacity with normal footprint
This looks lovely. Be aware that it holds just 1/4 pound of butter but takes up as much space on your table as brands that hold twice as much.

Muy buen producto
Una maravilla si cocinas seguido. Cambio de agua frecuente y no esperes que la mantequilla dure meses. Es para comodidad, no para conservar la mantequilla. Así que checa que esté fresca.

Love it!
We use it every day. Butter doesn't sour or yellow outside of the fridge. Would purchase this for friends as a present.

It is one of the best things I have ever bought for the kitchen
It is one of the best things I have ever bought for the kitchen, it is just the right size for the two of us, the butter stays soft and fresh. I change the water each morning after doing breakfast as then I don't have to think when did I do it last. Over the last couple of days the weather has had a change for the better but the butter has stayed perfect. It's a great invention. My only downside is the colour I really wanted was out of stock but this still looks fine on my work top.
