Yes it’s the official bbq dragon not a knock off I enjoy it and it’s a small amount of charcoal good to grill for a small family if your planing on grilling for a party I would suggest the Weber chimney it can light up slot more I have both

Q: Can you use newspaper as a fuel to light the charcoal with this chimney?

Why is that not addressed in any of the product directions or advertising? It seems a great selling point with the economics alone and what I look for when purchasing one.

I didn't try it without the fan... It's construction is similar to the regular chimneys I use, but I don't know that there's any advantage to using it with no blower. I'm sold on the BBQ Dragon and have used mine for more than 2 years before I saw this new chimney. It's easy to use & recharge and does a great job of stoking a fire or getting coals fired up when they start to die out. If you grill or barbecue much at all, buy the BBQ Dragon ( and chimney ), you can't go wrong.
