PawHut Metal Small Animal Cage, 4-Tiers Rolling Big Ferret Cage, Gray

It was a bit of a challenge to put together but the instructions are clear so long as you're paying attention to the panel letters and the wording on the instructions. One of the panels, however, refused to fit into place. It was Top Back Panel D. I had to bend it to then proceed to hammer it into place. No other parts were bent or otherwise deformed. After that, everything was an absolute breeze to put together and set up. It's lightweight and the wheels will make it a joy to move and clean as needed. I doubt it's going to fall over at any point which makes it very safe around my puppy. I'm very happy with it. It's the perfect space for my three rats. They're settling in and enjoying it so I would definitely recommend it to others. It's pretty tall. I'm 5'2 and it settles just under my chest so don't worry about 3-4 rats feeling cramped in it.

I just got this & had it set up today (Jan, 24,2023). I bought it on the 20th & it arrived in 4 days with everything it's supposed to come with. The instructions were clear, had good pics, & took my husband about 30 mins to build. If you're getting this for a ferret, it looks like you might need to put grip tape down or covers for the ramp so it can get up & down. I dont have mine yet so i dont know for sure yet. The wheels work well & have locks. The doors all open & shut. The latches are decent but i may get something for better security. I also have kids so thats why.. It's very spacious & plenty of room for 2 ferrets. I wouldn't put in more than 2 although I'm sure you could. This seems to be a good cage. Others reviews say this cage is great all around for it's price & that it holds their animal without fail so I'm hoping that's true too. The only problem I have is that fed ex smashed my cage during transport and some of the panels & bars are bent. The damage is so minimal that I'm not going to bother w contacting anyone. If you're out shopping for a new cage, I hope my review helps you.

Overall good quality cage for a reasonable price. It is spacious, my three rats are comfortable in it. They have been unable to figure out how to escape through the doors (trust me they've tried) and it's super easy to open from the outside. The wheels make it easy to move around and the wheel locks provide safety. My only issues with this cage were that the base doesn't fit right in the bottom. I would up burning holes into the corners and zip tying them to the bars. If you do this though be mindful if you have chewers. The other thing was assembly. The instructions are not super helpful and I wound up having to take pieces out to make space for another piece and then putting them back. It took me about 2.5 hours to put together.

A few problems. 1... it is complicated to assemble and the directions are not overly helpful. For example, the directions tell you to connect the front and back panel with the bars with the screws 1st and then add the wheels. Nope. The wheels have to go in before the screws because one screw holds a panel, bar and wheel together. I can usually look at pictures when the written directions aren't clear but the pictures on the paper are too small to be helpful. The parts don't always fit together nicely. Example...where the holes are drilled for screws, the metal is pushed inside the tube that you have to slide the other piece into which made it really hard to connect them. 2. It's missing half of one of the latches for the side door. The holes are there for it but the piece isnt there. We rigged it up and contacted the seller to see if we can get the piece sent to us. Hopefully they answer buy if they don't the cage is still functional. We just won't be able to use that door. Also the bars that you pinch together to open the front doors are REALLY "flimsy" which is kind of good because it makes it easy to open. Unfortunately, one of them was so flimsy that it broke off within an hour of putting it together. The bottom tray makes me a bit nervous because it isn't exactly tightly secured but I think it will be ok. My only other concern is that some of the bars came bent which makes me worry about how well it will hold up but again, I think it will be ok. Having said all of that, it came quickly and our chinchilla seems to absolutely LOVE it. It's the perfect size with lots of places for her to hide and play and it looks like it will be relatively easy to clean. Based on all of that and the price, I would still recommend this cage.

Update!!! This cages door hinge literally broke off and my chinchilla escaped and attacked my other chinchilla. If I could go back in time I would have purchased something more high quality then this. I've had to use so much JB weld on this it's ridiculous. Now even worse, it can't even keep my chinchilla inside because the little latch popped out of the socket!!! I'm livid as I'm writing this on my way to the emergency room right now for my pet. Update again!!! The legs have literally bent inside the socket. My boyfriend and I literally pick up the cage to move it now. I'm so happy we are getting a different cage soon that's not this one. Original review--------------------- I've owned two of these large PawHut cages for about 3 months now. Size: Size wise it works well for my baby's. One of the cages houses two chinchillas, which has been plenty enough space for them to play but also have hideouts, ledges, and toys of all sorts. It could definitely work for three chinchillas if need be. You can divide the cage into two smaller cages as well, but even for one chinchilla it's a bit small. Material Quality: Quality is the BIGGEST down side of this cage. In both pictures attached I have two areas of the cage where I've had to use JB weld to stick parts back together. The leg was flimsy and bent so my boyfriend bent it back into place and had to use JB weld as the part you stick it into became lose. Additionally, the bars of the cage don't all connect to the bottom, so when my chinchillas used their wheel to run it broke the two bars because the walls aren't secure enough. So we ended up using JB Weld to to connect it back into place. Would love to see in the future that the cages come with more or all bars connecting to the frame. Additionally, do not love how in some areas the coating of the cage is coming off from the chinchillas chewing it. Floor/ledges: It comes with a plastic bottom that is so flismy that it bends and bows with my little critters on it. It is also not safe due to it being made of plastic, so I replaced it with a wood cut out to slide into the bottom. Additionally, the ledges are all plastic so I threw mine out. You can always put fleece over the ledges but mine pull the fleece up. Cleaning/using: I really wish that there was either two big doors on the side or one big one on the front. It's so hard to attach ledges or other things by yourself to this cage because you can't wrap your hands around all the way in some areas. I do love how you can remove the side door, which helps a lot. I do also love how the front has a small door so that my babies don't start jumping out when I open it. Super easy to clean, but the double doors would help a lot! Final thoughts! Great cage if you are on a budget but prepared to make your own adjustments or fixes occasionally. Pro are that the size of the cage is great, especially for 1 - 3 chinchilla, and love detachable doors. Cool that you can split the cage in half as well. Cons are that things can break easily and require small repairs and paint comes of if your animal is a chewer. Additionally, floor is super flimsy!

This is perfect for my two chinchillas! It gives them loads of space, including plenty of room for their 16" wheel, their dust bath, food container, and water bottle! The bottom tray is also a nice depth for aspen shavings, so I won't have to change it out as often <3 It also seems super sturdy, the wheels roll well, and the opening side panels make it SO much easier to do stuff inside than the old cage. It also gives them plenty of space to stay apart if they're mad at each other. My only complaints are the following: -The bottom tray is plastic, so I'll need to keep an extra close eye and make sure they don't chew it open. -There's nothing below the tray, so if I take it out, I'll need to put them in a carrier or something so they can't get out. -The hammock that comes with it is very cheap plasticky fabric, with fabric straps instead of chain. I didn't use it because I'm worried they'll just chew the straps, and while it would clean easily if they peed, it just doesn't look comfy for them. -The ramps are really slick and the ridges aren't very defined, so I couldn't separate the shelves as much as I would have liked. I was worried the openings wouldn't be open enough for them to reach the next levels! -The shelf pieces don't fully press together, and leave some wiggle room, even when putting 3 next to each other (the full width of the cage). Luckily, they don't snap back together, so no feet should be stuck or injured.

Perfect size and very good quality for the price! Very easy to clean and my ferrets love the new hammock that came with it as well! You have to assemble the cage but directions are easy to follow.

We got this cage with the intension of getting 4 rats and it did not disappoint in the slightest. The day we brought home our new rats, they ran around exploring each nook and cranny of the cage and they were so excited to have so much room to play and explore in. We’ve had the rats and the cage for about a week now and have not had any issues. The cage was easy to build and is easy to clean and rearrange as needed. We decided against using the hammock that came with the cage, as it is not as good quality as the other hammocks we bought but we did use it for the travel carrier we brought our rats home in and it served its purpose well.

Arrived a few days earlier, which is perfect! A spacious and solid cage for my rats. All pieces were there and in great condition. We understood the manual really well, but also followed the advice from other users, like hammer the rails that hold the tray, and after you assemble the first layer, place the shelves BEFORE you place the second one. For the issue with the tray (the space on the sides between the cage and the tray), we just bought a wooden rail in Home Depot that matched our needs (measurements for us (after hammering the metal rails) were 1cm height/1,5cm width/51cm length), cut it into 2 suitable pieces and placed them right onto the metal rails for the tray, and put the tray on top. It worked perfectly, the tray is secured and no space for the rats to escape orove the tray. Your measurements would be different so please measure before buying the wooden rail. Rats are very happy. I do recommend this cage for rodents that need a lot of space.

So awkward to spot clean, a pain to take the base parts out for a deep clean the openings are so small... but for the price its made well spacious enough for two rats my dad put it together in like 10 minutes but after a year I dislike it rearranging the climbers and cage is so bleh if it had bigger doors it would be five stars all day

Straight forward assembly, holds up nicely, good size, I’d say it’s worth the money. The hammock is a cheap thin material but I had my own to use anyway & didn’t buy it for the hammock, so not a flaw in my eyes.

I hate this cage with all of my being. I didn't realize the bottom was only a plastic tray, with a big gap. I had to put elastics so it sits higher. Also, the fact that it is only plastic means any rodent will eventually chew its way though. A plastic shelf came broken and I got no reply from customer support. After a few weeks only, one of the legs broke, so we have to put a book under it. Also, the tiny freaking doors make it impossible to clean the cage. It's such a freaking hassle and I hate my life every evening when it's time to clean it. If you can, avoid this cage. At all cost. Living with the anxiety that your pets will escape and the hatred of cleaning is definitely not worth it.
