This set is a great way for kids to learn how to use safely a bow and arrow. This one is durable and functions very well. It is the perfect size for our teenagers to learn with. We love the carrying case and the way it all fits without moving around. The bow itself was easy to string and has good elasticity, the arrows are nice and sturdy and stick well into the haystacks.

Edit: The seller reached out to me a couple weeks ago. They explained that the flaw had been identified and has been corrected with this bow. I was offered a replacement item or a refund via Amazon GC. As I had already purchased a new bow, I opted for the GC and it was quickly sent. I'm impressed with the ownership and response time from the seller. Not something you usually see. This was a Christmas gift for my son. He only had the opportunity to use it within the last couple weeks due to weather and only shooting at an outdoor archery range. The arrows it comes with are a joke. Absolutely not worth it. Nothing is more discouraging to a beginning archer than to watch arrows *bounce* off a target. So, bought some new arrows. Boys (both my sons share it at the range) start enjoying shooting with actual arrows, as their shots actually stick in the target. However, 4th outing out, the upper bow limb snapped. Total time in use? Less than 5 hours at the range in 3 weeks.

We purchased this set because our grandson was interested in learning archery. I give this three stars since it is mostly well made, but because of the problem described below, it is not usable for someone who really wants to start learning how to do archery correctly. The problem is how the arrows are fletched (the placement of the "feathers"). The fletching is spaced evenly around the shaft of the arrows, which is good. However, the "feathers" are made of vinyl and have been crushed in the shipping package. Being bent causes the arrows to fly crookedly. It may be possible to warm up the vinyl and straighten these out. I haven't been able to do that yet. However, worse than that, the feathers are misaligned relative to the nock (the part of the arrow that fits over the string). Arrows are supposed to be made so that, when placed on the string, the odd colored feather sticks straight out sideways away from the bow. This allows the arrows to fly straighter and more consistently. Since these feathers are not arranged that way, they bump against the bow when released and fly crookedly and at unpredictable angles. This second problem with the arrows is not fixable. It could have been avoided by simply gluing the nock aligned in such a way as to have the fletching have the correct orientation. In order for our grandson to progress and actually learn how to shoot, we are going to have to purchase new arrows.

Just some simple limbs and plastic to hold it all together. For the price you get a great entry into archery. My nieces and nephews used it ages from 8-15 and they all loved it. Arm gaurd a bit to big for smaller ones but still works. Arrows are cheap and very dull but not really a bad thing, shot them into hard wood many times and no arrows broke which is a plus. The plastic fetching did come off a few easily but arrows flew fine anyways. Limbs are fiberglass and you can tell they may flay a bit where you insert them but so far still good. Overall archery is a great Hobbie for boys and girls, teaches patience, hand eye coordination, muscle control and posture. Would recommend as a good first step for anyone.

This was perfect for a beginner 11 year old. He says the 18lb pull got easier throughout each use, although he originally thought it was harder than expected. It's day 3 and he loves it and hasn't complained about the 18lb pull. He can assemble it easily on his own and has great accuracy. At first we thought the upper and lower limbs would fall off during installation because assembly was too easy, but once the bow string was installed, it kept everything snug in place. The ideal target range for the 11yo is 10ft to 14ft. An ideal range for an adult male using was 20ft-25ft. We made the mistake of starting the 11yo at 25ft and thinking the bow was the issue, but he was just too far away. It works 100% perfect on a half inch foam-mat target and doesn't go all the way thru.
