Can they be connected end to end like normal Christmas lights and run from 1 outlet or does each set have to be plugged into it’s own outlet?

They have to be plugged in to their own outlet. Also know that the plug is in the middle of the lights and not on an end, so you have to plug them in and then run them two different directions from the plug to cover what you want to light up. Not your traditional lighted string lights, but super cool when they get working!!

I have a 12ft Christmas tree how many boxes would you recommend?

Elevated…. If you have a 12 ft tree people are suggesting for you to use at least 3 600 light boxes. Another mentioned having an almost 9ft tree and there 1 600 light box only covers the front of the tree. Hope this helps
