best in class
I had three pen-type flashlights from a famous brand for years. Kept them around the house, often with one in my pocket just in case. But they all failed pretty much simultaneously so I was off to find a, or several, replacements. I'm not a flashlight enthusiast necessarily but I understand the draw. Anyway, having read reviews here and independently, I bought several small models to see which would win my respect and affection. This little goober has grown on me; it's my pocket flashlight now. What I like: Size: it is tiny! Brightness, yes it is bright and fine for my needs. Only one light level: on or off, no time-wasting cycling through light levels. Key-chain ring on the end. What I wish might be different: twist to turn on, so it requires two hands, until you really work at mastering the motion; but it's harder than a push button at the back end. Battery size: wish it were AA instead of AAA, they get so hot so quick.Very few small flashlights nowadays use AA, that's my main gripe with all the flashlights I bought. AAA get hot and don't last as long as a AA before swapping out. My old famous-brand flashlight was happy with a single rechargeable eneloop AA for 5 years, with daily use. I can't hope for that ever again, can I?But still, this is a solid light for how microscopic it is. And the price is astounding. If a teeny-tiny pocket/key-chain flashlight is what you're looking for, this is the one.

Nice keyring light with lots of colors/designs to choose from
The Olight i3E is a super compact keyring flashlight that puts out just the right amount of lumens to illuminate the way walking to/from the car in a dark parking lot or searching for a dropped item. It runs off of one included AAA battery and is easy to turn on to its single brightness of 90 lumens with a simple twist of the head. Using a AAA battery as the power source is great because they’re readily available but typically I prefer the rechargeable flashlights and I really like the Olight i1R 2 Pro for that reason and the fact that the i1R 2 Pro has 2 modes (5 lumens or 180 lumens). That being said, I still really like the i3E, they’re just 2 different use-cases.I like to clip the i3E to my jacket zipper pull via a micro S-biner so I have easy access to it if needed and can quickly unclip it from the jacket when I am using the flashlight. Olight releases new designs and colors for the i3E all the time and I like to collect them and to give as gifts so it’s always fun to see what the latest release will be. Keep an eye out for sales as this flashlight goes on sale often and that’s when I typically order to save a few dollars.Overall, the Olight i3E is a great mini flashlight if you’re just looking for something that can attach to a keyring or zipper pull and be easily accessible for finding your way in the dark. The simplicity of one twist for on/off and the use of a AAA battery makes this flashlight a great choice as a backup light or a great gift as well.

Compact, Durable and Light
After trying many little EDC flashlights I have come to like this one best. It is as small as it gets with a single AAA battery. I have several on them on my keychains and carabiners on bags, always seem to have one within reach. We camped a lot this summer and it is a great little light to have at arms length in the dark and is bright enough to light your way to the bathroom (or bushes) in the middle of the night. I enjoy all the color variations available too!

The EDC I keep on my key chain!
I wanted to try a few AA & AAA single cell powered lights to keep handy in my laptop bag and/or on my key chain in my pocket to use anywhere the need comes up, which in my case is a fair bit. After trying a few of these "Every Day Carry" type mini-lights, this is far and away my favorite. It does not have any infrequently used adjustment features I will forgot how to use or which annoy me by coming up in the wrong operating mode, it's smaller than the others I tried out, so it does not add much bulk at all to my key fob (It's dwarfed by either of my 2 car key fobs). Simple twist on/off and a really bright light output. This is a basic EDC flashlight and it excels in that role. And just so I wasn't clear enough, it is really tiny; barely larger than the AAA battery inside.Battery life has been great although I haven't kept track and so far I'm still on my original Alkaline battery installed a few months ago. I rarely use it for more than a few minutes at a time. Sometimes multiple times a day and sometimes not for a week or more. After a few minutes of on time, it will get noticeably warm due to its high light output. That said, if I need a light for much longer than that, it's usually where I need a broader beam and I have bigger and much bulkier units for that.I know a number of reviewers have complained the top has unscrewed and come off, some others have complained it has turned on in their pocket. I keep this in my pocket all day long if I am out of the house and have never even approached either of those issues. I give it less than a quarter turn to turn off and it has never come on by itself or come apart. It's possible those users damaged, lost, removed or had the little O-ring in the wrong groove too far back. It's that O-ring that provides its water resistance and also adds friction to the LED housing that screws on/off and to provide both battery access and the on/off switch function.I haven't gotten it any wetter than from being out in the rain briefly so I can't speak to the water resistance, but I'm not planning on swimming with this or using it underwater. It's rated similarly to other EDC lights, so it should be fine submerged up to a couple of feet deep if the O-ring is intact. Can you break it? I'm sure the answer is yes, but for my purposes and in my pocket, all it's showing is a little wear and tear on the otherwise durable finish from constant rubbing against my keys and pocket change. If and when it ever breaks, I will reorder immediately. To recap- small, did I say small? I meant tiny.- powerful little light for my near distance use (usually within 1-3 feet for me), but the beam will illuminate to quite a distance- Super simple to use and no extra features you probably won't use or don't much matter in a light this small for basic use- Good Battery life, and compatible with NiMH rechargeable AAAs. You can't use a 10440 Li-ion as the voltage is too high for its LED when fully charged, plus it will likely get too hot to hold if you do. If you really need Li-Ion, look to another light.- Inexpensive- Overall a five star for its super convenience, ease of use and function.2 year update - STILL my favorite! In 2years of use. I've had the top unscrew in my pocket once and have had it turn on once on its own in my pocket. I've maybe missed not having a tail switch vs the twist on/off maybe a couple of times, but the size and weight are just perfect and ditto for light output. I've tried AA size, tail switch types, rechargeables and always come back to this one. Paired with NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries, I usually go for months between battery changes. The others stay handy on my desk or bench, this one lives on my key chain always on my belt or in my pocket and goes wherever I go so I'm never without a light and neither is anyone else who is alongside me at work!

Mighty light barely bigger than a AAA.
I have bought maybe six of these, and the two oldest have burned out after a lot of use. The others are working just fine, and are so incredibly tiny and useful I will probably buy more for the glove compartments and kitchen drawers. One brightness, but it makes up for that by being tiny and light, and solidly built. Very basic but very functional, and at 10 dollars a solid buy. Do note that the Olight store on the web can have sales and a wider variety of colors!
