KnitPal 24" (60cm) Wooden Circular Knitting Needles - US Size 19 (15mm)

They are becoming my favorite needles for chunky yarn. I took up knitting last month after being a crocheter for the last 12 + years. These were a birthday/ Christmas present to myself . I had found a pattern for chunky yarn that needed US 19 needles. These are really nice to work with . The yarn glides freely and they are easy to work with even if you have small hands like myself. They are rather light considering their size. I am enjoying these needles. Picture is of a scarf I am making with these needles.

The wood seems a tad bit unfinished has rough sides. Not extremely large in length of the wood, but gives me plenty of space with the plastic tubing for a large size blanket. The tubing is extremely flexible and soft can’t really complain for the price if the shipping wasn’t so expensive Will update after using the blanket. I just received it today so I’m only commenting on the quality in looks and feel. But I can’t complain for the value of money being that it wasn’t very expensive i’m hoping it does not break on me since the material seems quite soft. Will update after performance check.

These are great. They are sturdy and just long enough. It might make your hands cramp but that can happen with using knitting needles this size no matter what brand you get. Only reason why I didn't give these 5 stars is because they aren't as smooth as I like my needles but I expected that when I got these. If I could give these 4.5 stars I would but for whatever reason Amazon doesn't allow that. I can't say how these last though because I use them to make a jumbo throw blanket that took only a day and I doubt I'll be using them again any time soon since I very rarely ever use yarn big enough to require this size needles.

Years ago I made a weighted blanket by using home made chunky needles and yarn I used a lucet on. That took ages and the needles I threw together were not smooth at all. I saw this set and decided to give them a go. This size 19 set works great on this yarn I've crocheted. I have to fight a little to get the blanket to slide over the connecting tube, but that could just be a result of the plastic they used. Hopefully these hold up for at least the duration of this project.

I wanted to love these needles. The wooden portion of the needles is made well. The issue arises at the join from the plastic loop to the needles themselves. This is the first time I have knitted with such a large gauge of yarn, and so this is the first time I have purchased such large needles. I was knitting a blanket and wanted the space that circular needles provide even though I was not knitting in the round. I got a little more than halfway through the project, being very careful and trying to not put weight on the join since I knew this may be an issue after seeing them in person. You see, the plastic tubing is clear, and I could clearly see that the wood inside of that joined area was fairly sharp. I didn't want that sharp wood to crack the plastic. Then it happened. I caught it before I lost any work and had to pick up any lost stitches. I had to patch it with duct tape to be able to finish the project and then had to patch the other side. I will not be using these again in the future since the duct tape made it really slow going. I knew that this was a very low price for something like this and that I was gambling. Unfortunately, it did not pay off.

I really like these knitting needles. I was trying to make a chunky blanket by finger knitting it at first. It looked easy and fun, from a video I watched on it. Well it was not fun to me, I guess because I already know how to knit and crochet it just felt weird to me and I didn't like that you had to finger knit on a flat surface so I had to do it on the dining room table which just hurt my back. and I thought I could probably knit this nicer with some big needles and be comfortable on my couch or chair. So I decided on these and they are great. They are smooth and do not snag on the yarn. I just started the blanket but so far so good. I also recently got needles in one size smaller with shorter cord to make a chunky cowl. Oh and you get a free E book on knitting too which I thought was a nice thing too.

The only good thing I can say about this set of chunky circulars in three different sizes is that it's a set of chunky circular needles in three different sizes. IMHO (in my humble opinion), 'You get what you pay for' would apply. OVERALL CRITIQUE The quality of the so-called “smooth finish” (for all three pairs) is meager at best. Stitches cling in place, having to be forced down the way-too-short shaft. The dull, clunky tip results in frustration when trying to insert the needle into stitches along the opposite shaft. The overall knitting experience is disappointing. THE SPECIFICS US 19 – MY 19s - the surface of the shaft was uneven in certain spots, @best. Not only was the shaft non-symmetrical, the needles were NOT a solid US19; they were more like 18's, if there were such a size. Essentially, they were larger than US17 but smaller than US19. Yet another example of inconsistency. US 35 – same as overall critique; dull nubs for tips, dull surface...stitches must be forced along the shaft. US 50 – same as overall critique, in addition to the following issues: the tip of one of the needles appears to have been sanded down more aggressively. Viewing it @eye-level, it is obvious that one section favors the flat, downward angle of a slope. Also, after smoothing a fingertip over what looked to be a rough section, I was rewarded w/a tiny splinter. Imagine the damage done to yarn fibers. ALL-IN-ALL It's my own fault for not having returned this set w/in the 30-day limit. For my punishment, I was forced to buy quality needles in each size; spending a lot more money than initially intended. After my experience, however, I still find it puzzling how this set owns an impressive customer service rating. I understand the concept of "lemons" as it relates to all products, but there are lemons...and then there are LEMONS.

I think you should be careful with it. I read that the cable pops loose , so I don't knit as much but I have found it makes stitches that are easy to see. It's a real yarn eater, but it's fluffy and fun. I ws also able to knit cut plastic bags with it. but that will be a workout! Would definitely advise you to try it.

I'm very happy with the needles and that I now have 3 large sizes for a very reasonable price. And they shipped super fast which is perfect because I wanted to start knitting with them asap! Thank you!
