Absolutely the best
Hands down this is the best $100 I have ever spent. I own two cars and inevitably, one of them will have a dead battery after a few weeks of non-use. All I have to do is connect this thing, wait under a minute, and the car starts. If the battery is really, really dead sometimes I have to let it charge a while (like 3-5 minutes), but I am telling you this thing is gold. It beats the heck out of calling the auto club or trying to track someone down who has jumper cables. If my car battery is dead, this is like a 5 minute fix, if it is even that long. Just tonight, one of my stupid cars had a dead battery after only 3 days of sitting, and this is the middle of summer... not like it's cold out or anything. Being the cheapo that I am, I am not going to replace the battery until it absolutely will not work. I used the NOCO and it started right up. Prior to today, I think it's been a good 6 months since I had to jump a car (so it was winter) and this thing has sat around since then. It did not lose charge in storage and worked right away! I don't really use the carrying case so much because I am almost always jumping the car from home but it is nice to have. I do wish the cables were longer but I can live with that. When it does need charged, I just plug it in and it's pretty quick to charge. I have never used the USB out port to see what it does. The NOCO is small enough to carry if needed, is not heavy and is much better than hauling jumper cables. I'm an old lady and even I can operate this with no effort. By the way, I bought it in April 2024 and it's now August 2026 and it still works great. Get one!

Small, compactor and portable.
Wow, what a cool item. Forgot to turn key to off and left car overnight. Yup, completely dead. New battery too. Read the directions and had to use the bypass safety mode. Battery was less than 2 amps. Pressed touch button on charger and started vehicle right up. Great to have, no need for clumsy jumper cables and another battery. One charge is good for about 20 jumps.

Works Extremely Well When Charged, but Long-Term Battery Drain Limits Emergency Readiness
Overall, I have been very impressed with the NOCO Boost GB40 as an actual jump starter. When charged and ready to use, it has worked reliably for me multiple times over the years and has successfully jumped my vehicle without much trouble. The compact size and portability also make it much more convenient than dealing with traditional jumper cables. The biggest issue I have experienced is long-term battery retention during storage. I would fully charge the unit to 100% and keep it in my trunk specifically for rare emergency situations, but because those situations are thankfully uncommon, I would often discover that the internal battery had completely drained by the time I actually needed it months later. In practice, that means this works best for people who either: regularly maintain and recharge the unit, frequently use it, or own vehicles that commonly need jump starts. If you are expecting to charge it once and forget about it for extremely long periods, you may want to check the battery status more regularly than expected. I also occasionally tried to use it to help other stranded drivers, but the same issue sometimes came up where the unit had already self-discharged from sitting unused too long in the trunk. To be fair, I do not know how much of this is normal lithium battery behavior versus the device itself, especially considering temperature changes inside vehicles over long periods. But it is still something buyers should realistically know before relying on it as a long-term untouched emergency backup. Overall, I still think it is an excellent portable jump starter and a very useful tool when properly maintained and kept charged. I just recommend periodically checking and topping it off instead of assuming it will stay at full charge indefinitely in storage.

Amazingly Great
I've never had to use this for myself, but I have used it for quite a few other people. The first time I helped a stranger out with it, it only had on bar of power, but it started their car right up. I now make sure to check the power level every so often to make sure I don't get stranded with it being dead. It has never flinched on any engine I've tried to get it to start. I would say it holds a decent charge considering it stays in a super hot vehicle all the time in the Texas heat. I definitely consider it a great value for the money. Plus, not having to wait on someone else or hoping some stranger nearby might have jumper cables, it is phenomenal. I have one of these in every one of mine and my family's vehicles.

Excellent! But can discharge itself!
Needs of switch or lock function so no accidental flashlight draining battery. For jumping vehicles, Jeep, Car, midsize Truck, had worked well for me and for helping others so seems there's plenty of power and cranking amps. Holds a charge reasonably well; no idea how fast it charges because I put it on at night, ready in the morning. I do this if it gets below 50%, so don't know if it will jump a vehicle with only 25% left. Had a Rugged Geek model before, but upgraded to this because of inconsistent jumping ability, sometimes it just wouldn't work; worth the price for something that works! Fix the accidental light! Numerous times I found something had managed to press the light button through the storage bag, last time I saw it happen just lightly setting the bag down with the charged unit in the floor of my Jeep; setting, not throwing/tossing, didn't put anything on top of it, lightly laid out down on the floor mat and watched the weight of the manual and cables cause the light to turn on! This, coupled with my wife recently pulling hers out to help someone on the side of the road, and it was mostly discharged despite it not being used since charging less than 2 months ago, had me wanting to give this review so hopefully more people will tell NOCO to fix this. Not cool. The included caring case is just a light cloth bag giving NO protection. Good thing the durability seems really good, especially the dust and water resistant covers for plugs and the cables being really short leaves little room for error/damage. Our backpacking air mattress pumps have a feature where you hold the power button long to lock it, then anything shorter than a 5 second press won't unlock it or turn it on in a bag, and the Rugged Geek model has a physical off switch, nothing works unless you flip the switch to connect the circuit first; either of these options would make these jumper boxes better, but at least some kind of case or protective shield over the light button should happen!

Where has this been all my life!!!???
This amazing NOCO Boost GB40 saved me towing fees! Last week I went to start my 2019 Honda CR-V, only to discover that it wouldn’t start and the dash readout was showing it to be a brake problem. After 3 tries at starting, it went completely dead. So I assumed it had to be the battery. I live in a very rural area w/no immediate neighbors, so I planned to call a tow truck the following day to get it to a repair shop. A little internet research that night seemed to confirm that a low battery can cause incorrect readouts. I also discovered the existence of jump start devices, previously unknown to me! Went on Amazon to check out the one referred to in a comment & it had very good reviews—over 130,000 of them. I got it 2 days later & it started my car immediately! The absolute BEST $99 I’ve spent in ages! It charged faster than I expected and is small & lightweight enough to carry in the glove box. Obviously I cannot recommend this highly enough!!!

Will charge a completely dead battery.
Brilliant bit of kit, actually works. I am always sceptical of these units and went for a brand that is well known and trusted, and I am glad I did. I have a 2.2l Diesel and it started it first time, so power wise, no issues. Really easy to use, simple to charge. Comes with a small bag to store everything in, which is nice. Cable lengths are short but not an issue. My car's negative point is covered in my car so the leads were long enough for me to connect to a grounding point and the positive point on the battery. Kit seems robust enough so should be pretty durable, it doesn't feel cheap.
