First, I am absolutely in love with this product. I recommend you read the manual before you even try to use it to get an understanding of it first. The fan is not loud at all, though you do hear it if you focus on it and I have ADHD so the fact that it doesn’t bother me says a lot. There was a leak, but it came from where the water drips out of the machine into the bucket and all you have to do is position it to where it won’t do that so it’s not worth not buying the product. It’s still a great product. It does cut off by itself. You have to fill it up to the fill line and it fills up the container. It comes with exactly and it’ll cut off by itself. NOW LET’S NOTE THAT’S ONLY THE RESET BUTTON THAT TURNS OFF YOU STILL HAVE TO PUSH THE ON OFF SWITCH IN THE BACK AND TURN IT OFF!!! the tank fills in a very decent amount of time. I have actually just tried the water from the second batch and it taste great. The manual does mention to not drink out of the first round of water because the machine is fresh so that’s probably where the comments about the metal tastes come from but I just drank the second batch and it taste fine. Definitely try this product out I am going to try to upload a picture on my review, but for some reason it’s not letting me so more than likely there won’t be one so I tried to put as much detail as I could into my writing and I hope this helps somebody to make a decision on this product.

WATER DISTILLER DAILY MAINTENANCE To use this: you should filter the water that you want to distill first with a Brita machine or similar, they have those on Amazon. That will make this unit have to do less work, be easier to clean, and the unit will last longer. Fill the distiller with filtered water up to the 1 gallon mark on the inside of the distiller wall. With cool water it takes about 3 hours to distill most of 1 gallon of water. Before starting the distiller get a timer ready to count down the 3 hours and start it immediately before starting the distiller. Turn the distiller off immediately at the end of the 3 hours to avoid boiling the water down to empty. The directions are clear(ish) on how to use, but not so much to clean. If you don't clean after each use, it will be less effective, the mineral scum at the bottom will keep the heat away from the water, and eventually the unit won't work, and the residue will be too thick to use the unit, and too hard to clean. To CLEAN: After each use, disconnect all the plugs and let unit sit. It takes at least an hour to cool. Then remove the top section. Pour the remaining water residue out and then scrub the distiller a couple of minutes with a plastic scrub pad and tap water. Pour that water out. I put about 3 teaspoons of citric acid crystals, some of which are included with the distiller, in a quart of distilled water and pour that into the distiller and cover it with a plate or some cover, let it sit 2 or 3 days, then pour the used citric acid solution into a container for storage. Rinse well with tap water and scrub lightly with a plastic scrub pad. Pour that water out. The cleaning product provided with the unit works great at removing mineral deposits. If the stains are stubborn, put 3 inches of water and citric acid, plug it in without a lid, and boil it for 30 mins. Rinse well with water or mild detergent. If you can't wait 2 or 3 days you might try this method to clean the distiller. I change the inexpensive activated charcoal filter 3x a year, mark it on the calendar. Removing the metal clip where the charcoal sits is not intuitive, but once you know how, it's easy. Don't force it. Just gently wiggle the metal clip back and forth while gently pulling the clip away from the distiller.

Works great. Cleaning after every use is a must. My main use is for water for my CPAP machine humidifier. This is a life saver for me. I like the ease of making my own. I usually do two batches back to back and then clean up unit for next time.

I bought this so I wouldn’t have to buy, lug, and store gallons upon gallons of distilled water in my apartment to run the humidifier I use to keep my guitar from drying out and cracking in thecwinter air. This distiller works like a charm, so 4 stars. 1 star off because I do have a list of complaints: - I have very hard city water. The amount of junk left over in the metal tub after a cycle is shocking. It bakes on (stinks!) and is impossible to wipe off. Better than spewing it all into the air via humidifier though. - The cleaning process is both easier and harder than it looks. It ships with a bottle of citric acid crystals. Go ahead and order yourself a bulk 2 pound bag or two of those things, you’ll need them. Throw 3 or 4 tablespoons of crystals into a fully filled distiller tub, and run a cycle with the top off. The scale will disappear in about 30-40 minutes, no muss no fuss. I like to poke at the scale now and again with a spatula while this is going on, but I’m a neurotic overachiever. It is NOT clear or easy how (or whether?) to clean the top part with the coils and fan. Do these need to be unscrewed, taken apart, cleaned, reassembled? Who knows?? - This thing uses a lot of electricity and puts out a lot of heat. I ran it about 15 times and my power bill jumped $9 for the month (from $50 to $59, so it was noticeable). That could be because winter and price increase, or distiller use. Can’t tell yet. It does release a LOT of heat. I run it in my bathroom and it makes the room into a sauna. Great for winter! Toasty tile floor! That’s not great energy efficiency though. - It’s loud! I run it in the bathroom so I can close the door. If I ran it in my apt kitchen I would not be able to hear anything else, it’s about as loud as the over-stove fan set on low. - If you have long hair and run this thing on the floor, FOR THE LOVE OF CTHULU hold your hair back when you turn this thing on. The fan on top WANTS to grab your hair. You will cry. Over all, this thing does the job and even with my list of complaints and increase in electricity bill, it’s nice having distilled water on demand instead of having to go to the store and put more plastic jugs in the recycle bin where they probably won’t be recycled anyway. And even with that $9 jump in power bill, for at least 15 gallons worth of water it’s half the price of store bought.

The distiller had a slight learning curve to it. Second batch in, the metal cap that fits on the jug caused the water to run down the outside and pool in the tray we had the unit in. Once we removed the metal nozzle guide, raised both the jug and distiller up so that the distiller nozzle fits into the mouth of the jug we have had no more issues. The On/Off switch is really nice. Way better than relying on the unit to trip due to heat. Things we have learned to do when using, 1. Do not let it run empty. When the tank runs dry, it trips the reset button to turn off. This causes the sediment in the tank to burn to the tank, makes it way more difficult to remove and potentially ruining the tank. 2. Set a timer. We have a 3 hour 35 minute timer set. 3 hours and 15 minutes for the distilling process and 20 minutes for a cooldown so we can refill. We start the timer as soon as the unit is turned on. This leave the bottom covered with a small amount of water. 3. Ditch the metal nozzle guide that goes on the jug. Make your setup so that the distiller nozzle dumps right into the jug. If you have a tray to set it in, elevate both the unit and the jug. This way if the tray fills with water it wont get into the bottom of the unit and ruin the electronics. 4. Clean, clean, clean. We clean the tank every third batch. Get a big bag of food grade citric acid. When the last batch is done put some citric acid in the tank while the leftover water is still hot. This will make the tank come clean easier. The photos are from about 15 batches run through the unit with a water hardness of 300ppm from the tap. 5. When removing the tank top, grab the back side where the cord is and tilt it open from the back to the front. This will keep the water from running down the back of the unit and into the cord holes. 6. This does cast more per gallon than just buying it from the store, $1.37 @ store, $2.60 @ home, but we don't have all the jugs to throw away and boxes to recycle or making trips to the store to buy water. This unit pulls 760w at 6.3 amps. We are able to run it and the coffee pot at the same time with no issues. It is a tad loud but its no more louder than the air purifier we have running. The hot air that comes from the top is a plus now that it is winter time, summer shouldn't be too much of an issue since it will not get used that often, just to make jugs for the coffee maker.

We usually get our main source of water from a local RO water store that's just a few miles down the road from us. They were smart to do that, they are always busy, I'm sure due to the horrible water we have out here. I live in a suburb of a main city, we do not get the city water, instead we are well only. Some houses have private wells, I am in a large sub-division with about 400-500 houses, we are on a community well. The water is SO bad, we never drink it. I hate that we even have to shower in it and I hate the fact that we have to pay for this undrinkable water. I test it with our TDS meter, the meter says over 500 is undesirable, mine reads at 511. When we come home from the RO store with 5-5 gallon bottles (for our water cooler) and several 1 gallon bottles, that water reads 3. I thought having a distiller would make my life a little easier for the 1 gallon bottles, and it does! The distiller was very easy to set up, once we got our first batch of usable water from there, I tested it right away, it tested at 3, the same as our RO water. I was thrilled. After running it a few more times, it tested at 11, which is totally fine, my meter says anything under 50 is just about perfect! I've been running this machine every day since we got it, several times a day. Since I have 5 humidifiers running in my house I am constantly filling them. Having really dry air in the home is bad for the house and bad for your health. I Keep little humidity/temperature readers sitting all around my house, keeping my house at 50% humidity, so needless to say, I am constantly filling up my humidifiers, using my own distilled water. The only time my distiller catches a break is while we are sleeping. I don't run it at night, or when we leave in fear of a fire starting! It's not much bigger than a large coffee pot and doesn't take up much room. I have plenty of counter space to keep it out of sight (for the most part) and out of the way. A few things to note: The filter that came with it was great, my water was reading between 3 and 11. Since they don't sell the filters, I had to buy some from a different company, Green Piece, they work great in there, but my water now reads at 30-33 which is still fine because it's under the 50 mark according to my TDS reader and definitely good enough for my humidifiers and my water heater kettle (which we use for pour over coffee) We don't drink this water, but we could. We just use the water cooler for that. * A LITTLE UPDATE ON THE ABOVE * I've been consistently testing my water (to know when I should change the filter) and it's been reading at about 9 to 11 each time I test it, so it really does an amazing job at distilling. I'm not sure why my filters were reading higher in the above statement, but they are lower now :-) Another thing to note is: It's not very easy to change out the filter. You have to remove part of the rubber seal and lift the metal flap up, which isn't easy, I don't do it because I'm worried about cutting my finger, that metal seems sharp. Plus, it needs a little muscle I think. My husband does it, but he has to use a little force (and he's super strong) so we decided he would be in charge of changing out the filter. *A LITTLE UPDATE ON THE ABOVE. I bought another distiller so I can have 2 running at the same time (one I keep in the kitchen in my rec room) Anyway, my husband wasn't home when I set up the new one, I realized it was quite easy to take the filter compart off to put one in, so I tried it the same way on this one that I'm reviewing, I had no trouble getting it off and back on. So either my husband got it wrong (which is surprising because he's the family "handyman") or it just loosened up over time. Either way, it's not as bad as what I thought. The other thing to note is, if you are running really hard water through it like us (and yes we have a water softener) I would clean it out every time you fill it. I unplug the machine, take it to my sink, use a little water and a clean paper towel and wipe it all out then rinse it a few times with a little dish soap. It's pretty gross in there after it distills the water and has a foul smell if you do it when the machine is still warm. At least we know it's working. It does have some hard water spots at the bottom of the machine, which did come out the first time I cleaned it. Also, You don't get a full gallon of water from this, once it's distilled you get nearly a full gallon, probably close to a cup or more of water would still be needed to fill it up! The first time I cleaned it, I was confused about the cleaner that came with it and actually ran that through my machine, later to find out from Rufus that you aren't suppose to do that, you just let it sit in there and then dump it out. It didn't hurt the machine from one time, but that's not how it works. All in all I am happy we have this, and for the price, if it lasts a year, I will be happy.

Exactly as described and what I needed. I did it with my well water (TDS 50/60 ppm) Left a lot of junk on the bottom. Then I started using water from my RO system and it was in high teens (17 TDS). Did not leave anywhere near straight well water. Not TDS is 0001. Easy clean up. Used Scotchbright green scrubber and took just about everything out. After 20 or so uses I noticed some rust looking material in the bottom. Used the cleaner and it back to good as new. Very pleased with it and so are my fish.

Purchased this distiller after years of hauling plastic jugs from the grocery store and I wish we'd done so sooner! I use distilled water for cleaning, for my indoor water fountain, and to fill my humidifiers for the winter. Buying, hauling, and storing all of those jugs from the store was a chore, and when we stopped to think of all the plastic waste we were producing that didn't feel great either. We purchased this distiller and some glass gallon jugs for storage (Purchased from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ID5RXK8?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1) to begin distilling our own water. The glass jug that comes with the distiller needs to have it's handle attached when it arrives. Tip: put the lid on the container before you put on the handle so you can be sure you have the placement correct for an easy pour. Assembly was straight forward with no tools needed. The handle is sturdy, but I'd still always use two hands when handling due to the weight of the container (especially when full). You'll want to verify all the seals are in place before you perform your first cycle of distilling. If the seals aren't on right you'll end up with less water in the jug once the process is completed. You'll cycle through once and dispose of the first batch of water you make - this cleans out the machine and is recommended by the manufacturer. It takes ~4 hours to make a gallon of distilled water and the machine needs to cool down for ~20 minutes before you can open and refill (do not open before the machine has cooled down or you can be steam scalded). This means 2-3 gallons of water can be made easily in a day. Cleaning the machine is a breeze. The manufacturer provides a small bottle of citric acid and you simply add a little (maybe 2 Tbsp) and fill the machine with 1-2 inches of water. You then run the unit uncovered for ~15 min, usually less for me and the machine is descaled. Empty and wipe everything dry and you're good to store until the next use. The citric acid provided will get you through maybe 4-5 cleanings and you'll need to purchase more for further use (I've also purchased this in bulk through Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EYFKNL8?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5 or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRNY6FJB?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1 depending on price). The cleaning process is very forgiving, I do not clean this unit after every run - I wait until the end of all the runs I make for a day to descale it. I've also made the big mistake of not setting a timer while cleaning and boiled the unit dry, creating a sticky burnt citric acid concoction - I simply started the cleaning process over again, with more attention to time, and the distiller came away sparkling clean. Some other items of note: - Make sure there is enough air flow around the unit, when I run this with the fan under my cupboards I have produced less distilled water then if I pull it all the way out. - Make sure the lid of the main unit is sealed well when you turn this on, again this can impact your output. - Lastly, this comes with several closure pieces (not to seal and store as they don't fit on snug they sit on top of the lid) for the gallon jug provided for collection. The setup image shows you should use one with a small opening during the distilling process - I have found this to create messes, leading water outside the container, and prefer to leave no addition closure on the lid between the distiller and the collection jug. So far I have not found excluding the cap to create any water loss from the collection jug. One criticism I have for this machine, or maybe just the process, is that I would like to distill directly into the jugs I store the water in - instead of pouring from the collection jug into the storage jug every time. The unit is not tall enough to accommodate any glass gallon jug I could find, and even if I raised the unit, the opening of the storage jugs would not lineup with the distiller. It would be really nice if I could buy multiple jugs to distill directly into with this machine and seal up for storage. In summary, I've had this unit for a month now and I've distilled approximately 51 gallons of water with ease. Overall this was very simple to use out of the box, it's been easy to clean, and I'm no longer hauling water around, storing an abundance of jugs between shopping trips or contributing to the plastic waste problem (at least with distilled water jugs). If this unit lasts it will be well worth the money spent!

I purchased the unit because I have a CPAP and didn't want to lug around jugs from stores to home. Easy to set up, easy to use, and not loud. Totally worth the money.

I have used more expensive water distillers of the same size and general look that have heated to a very high temperature such that when the water drips out of the spout it is very hot. This unit simply was warm to the touch on the outside container when dispensing the water - though the water drops coming out were cool, and not hot whatsoever.

Received December 10 2024. The steel 304 bottom, food grade steel, began to stain within first month and continued to become degraded until April 22 2025, when my sprout seeds failed to sprout using distilled water from the distiller. Also crock of sauerkraut fermenting turned to mush. I bought this last November, delivered December 10 2024. Shortest life of any distillers. All distillers made with 304 steel (food grade) may not last one year. Vendor ignoring request for replacement or refund. There listed email address returns mail as undeliverable. Would not buy from them again.
