Great dye, albeit messy
Looks absolutely stunning over dark brown hair! I've never dyed my hair before this. I have naturally ashy dark brown hair. Over my natural hair color, the shade Transylvania becomes a gorgeous jet black with blue undertones. In the sun, the deep navy shine really comes through and it looks absolutely stunning! I also have sensitive skin, but I didn't find myself irritated by this product whatsoever. I will preface, this stuff stains HORRIBLY. It is a nightmare to work with. It will stain your tub. It will stain your hands. It bleeds like crazy. It took over twenty minutes to wash out. Yet... the end result was so pretty I would so use this product again!

BLACKEST BLACK, BEST DYE TO COVER RED. STAINS LIKE CRAZY.
I have no idea how or why this happened to my hair, but this might be the blackest darkest black I have ever tried! I started off with FIRE RED hair, I dyed a dark brown permanent box dye over it which left it to be a dark wine red as in picture 1. I dyed it several times and couldnโt get the red out! I finally decided to embrace the goth in me and just dye it black. As you can see my hair is very damaged from past procedures it has endured. So I needed a good, a green/blue black semi-permanent hair dye. And after going through hours and hours of reviews on Amazon, I found that this black dye had green and blue undertones. BEWARE it stains. My big head couldnโt wait 10 more days to return home to dye my hair, cause i was sick of the red! And that resulted in me trying to dye my hair at the house of a friends I was staying with at that time. Now, my friends bathroom is WHITE. Everything from the towels, to the tiles, the walls and the counter tops is WHITE. I thought i was about to drop $100K to fix the whole bathroom after my dye project. To get it out of the toilet seat, marble countertops, wood cupboards and floor tiles and bath-tub I followed these steps, first dry wipe with toilet paper, spray bleach, let it sit, dry wipe, rubbing alcohol + cetaphil face wash (i thought the mix of the acidic and basic elements would help?), let it sit and then wipe with baby wipe. And for some reason the rubbing alcohol really helped with getting the stains out! Pic 2, after dye in the sunshine. Pic 3 is after 3rd wash, in the sun, still no red. Pic 4 wash 4. Pic 5 wash 5. It didnโt fade! Idk why, because each time I wash it, the water still comes out DARK. I also stain my hand or forehead in my sleep from sweat. But it comes out. The bathroom is fine, though when my hair shed, it would leave a green/blue mark if it was wet so I had to be careful to wipe it asap. My hair is still BLACK BLACK, I am amazed. I left the dye in my hair for an hour, I always wash with semi-warm water. Iโve been using the sandwich method while washing, conditioner - shampoo - conditioner. Maybe that helped it not fade? And sulphate free shampoo too! I didnโt wash my hair for 2-3 days after I dyed it for the first time to ensure it stuck in my hair follicles. THIS IS THE BEST BLACK DYE, NO RED SHINE, PURE BLACK.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
okay so i purchased transylvania because i wanted to go dark for awhile without fully committing to having jet black hair with a box dye or anything permanent. i wanted a hair change but i didnโt want any long lasting, damaging change, and i assumed that this color would fade out to a pretty greyish blue color eventually after a few washes. i am so disappointed. first off, the blue black color is perfect. i donโt hate this product because of the color results i got. i hate it because it stains absolutely everything. every single time i wash my hair, something else around me is stained navy blue. i have to rewash and deep scrub the entire shower and the countertops and sink every single time i take a shower or get my hair wet. if your hair sheds and that shedded hair then gets damp or wet, it will leave a perfect little blue streak on whatever it landed on. my face and forehead are blue when i wake up every morning from sweating and moving in my sleep. my fingers and fingernails have been the same notorious blue-grey tint the entire time iโve had this demonic, evil product living in my hair because anytime i touch my hair or style it or even so much as sweat my hands will be stained all over again. iโve used virgin pink by arctic fox and i loved it and none of this happened to me before, so iโm even more confused as to why this product sucks so much. i wanted to ignore all of this because my hair is the perfect shade of black and i do really like it, however my forehead, neck, hands and entire bathroom are all different shades of navy blue and we rent so iโm even more screwed. this color is also sticking really well and holding on for dear life and not fading much so i feel like itโll be very difficult to strip out and remove, meaning that i shouldโve just used a basic box of black dye because it wouldโve been the same exact outcome. ugh. please donโt buy this product. buy one of their other shades, but do not buy transylvania. you will not be loving life.

Decent
I love that this didn't have a strong smell, but the dye is really thick so it was a bit of a pain trying to get it out of the bottle. Luckily, this was for my son so one was enough. His hair is naturally a medium blonde & the dye turned his roots green while the rest of his hair is more dark blue with a greenish tint. We will probably switch to a permanent dye to achieve the black he wants, but he does think his hair turned out pretty cool with this. Just not black lol. I will also agree with other reviews on the staining. Skin stains washed off in a couple of days but the shower is still a mess of blue & purple so that will take some work to remove.

Well Iโll be damned (ps this is long but very infotmative)
Starting this off with my hair is in the type 4 category and I wash my hair once a week. I usually use demi-permanent hair color from Sallyโs. Itโs get my hair black donโt get me wrong but I mean this color is BLACK. Itโs a blue based black and my god does it stain stuff when it washes out, my tub was massacred (fun fact, spray sunscreen will get dye out of countertops and bathtubs with enough patience and rubbing). It got on my skin and I looked beaten and bruised. Hated the smell but itโs sweet like bubblegum and chemicals. I saw all these comments about they staying power and was like well damn. Saw another beautiful lady say how she leaves it on her hair all day long just for it to keep its color longer and I thought I did not have the patience or will power to do that. So in my great beautiful stupid brain, I looked at the instructions and saw you could use heat and thought now what if I use heat for longer than it says? Dear lord. I probably left it in my hair for like an hour? I would heat it and let it cool then heat it again because I knew it was going to โfadeโ faster than demi. It bleeds like sucker. When I first washed it out I was amazed at the pigment but then the novelty wore off and it would still bleed. Itโs been 5 months and my hair is still black, like you would naturally assume itโs my actual hair color. You can barely tell the difference between my new growth and the color unless you are all up in my business which please donโt be. Itโs not the intense black that it was when it was freshly dyed but sheโs still there. She still bleeds but itโs hardly noticeable. Part of me wants to dye my hair again for that intense black but the reality is my hair genuinely does not need it. Iโm gonna be real honest with yall and say I do not know if or when it will come out. Side note, I did not use all of the dye and in fact use it to dye my eyebrows. Iโve been using Just For Men since 2016 but this has a lot better staying power. Just make sure to lay a base of Vaseline or something on the skin around and on your eyebrow throughly. Leave it on for no longer than 15 minutes if youโre really brave or you will have stained your skin black. Washing my face helps with that and it fades it a good bit but by the next day itโs gone. Overall 10/10 experience but maybe donโt be like me.

Great color, awful smell ๐ญ
Arctic Fox? More like Arctic Flop. I donโt know who lied and said this was a good hair dye, but I want names. I used Transylvania thinking I was about to be THAT girl. What I got instead was a rotting cow smell and hair that bled like a murder scene. It stains everything. your skin, your nails, your floor, your soul. everything except your actual hair. And yes, Iโve tried other colors. Same disaster. Pink? Blue? Red? Cute for the first 20 minutes. After that, it's just a slow descent into stained pillowcases and broken promises. It fades like itโs in witness protection. Two washes and the color ghosted me. All that mess and itโs not even permanent? This dye has commitment issues. Alsoโฆ who tf approved that scent? Transylvania literally smells like fermented manure. Iโm not even exaggerating. It was giving barnyard realness and not in a sexy โWicked Witchโ way. I had to deep clean my bathroom like it was a crime scene. And bleach? Thatโs the only thing that even tries to undo the destruction this crap leaves behind. Arctic Fox is for people who want cosplay color for one TikTok and never shampoo. Not for people who actually want long-lasting, vibrant, grown-ass hair dye. Itโs overhyped garbage. Iโve switched to Clairol permanent dye and suddenly I have color that doesnโt stain my entire existence. My tubโs clean. My hair looks alive. I can sleep on white pillowcases without waking up in a horror movie. If you're looking for real, serious color that lasts? Stay far away from this joke of a brand. Unless you wanna spend the next three weeks scrubbing your ears and crying in the tub.

Ditch expensive permanent box dye
This is revolutionary for hair dyers everywhere. The fact they donโt have it everywhere blows my mind. There isnโt developers or any harsh chemicals. I throw on gloves simply to not stain my hands. Put Vaseline or coconut oil or lotion anywhere on my head I want to not be stained. And use it on shampoo clean hair thatโs dried for a decent 8 hours so the oils are back. Use this like conditioner. Cause this basically is conditioner. Rub it in. Real good and deep. Shower cap or plastic bag. And I sit for hours. Well beyond 4 minimum. Never once burned or harmed my scalp. If you use one color for a super long time. Just put some of this into your conditioner in the shower. Honestly I do jet black with crazy colors here and there. But always black. Couldnโt afford to do it often. But one bottle of this and my life changed. Iโve slowly been building my collection of each color. Since my hair is neck length and I only needed to use maybe a third to a half of the bottle. I even used the water from cleaning everything during the rinse period of application into a five gallon bucket and throw my black jeans and v necks in and it keeps them looking vibrant as hell. If your gothic. Emo. Any shade of alternative. Or even old and fighting grey hairs. Do yourself a favor. Buy this as your one and only need for amazing color without risk of harming your scalp and the environment. Plus it doesnโt bleed anywhere near as much. Heat doesnโt bother its vibrancy and I blow dry and straighten. But I also use biotin hair growth shampoo once every three days. Conditioner once every two. You should train your hair and keep it healthy. Daily shampoo use is why your hair loses its color and often isnโt healthy. Plus you can still shower daily and wash yourself off and even wet down your hair with this stuff. I live my life and unlike splat I donโt have stains on me by the time Iโve showered again. And if needed can remove it ASAP with a face scrubber and makeup remover or dawn. Incase Iโm touching up for a date. This is dye you can get artistic with as well. I recommend the dye removal stuff they make over regular bleach as well. But if your gonna do it right. I still recommend you get gloves and a bowl and hair dying brushes. I kept the ones from my boxed kits. Never will look back to another hair dye now that I found this product. Everyone should try it. Kids can safely use this product alone or with supervision. Literally conditioner level safe. But still stains stuff! One of my best products Iโve bought online!!!!

I really like this!
Here's the first half of my review I'll update when it fades. I have 27" hair that's not thin but not thick. I had about 3-4" of virgin hair that was about level 5 the rest was a mix of salon red and box dye red that was a gradiant from level 5 near the top and 7 on the ends. It came out very even. I used all of 2 8oz bottles. It stains everything, but so far it works fine. Its basically a thick conditioner consistency with all the same gloppyness. So far I really like it. My hair feels nice an healthy and is still supper shiny probably more shiny now than before. Update: It's a few days shy of a month. It took about 2 weeks to see a detectable fade then everything started to fade quickly. (Shampoo wash 3 times and conditioner wash 4 time in the first two weeks.) My roots are almost back to normal they're just a little bit darker. A bit of length under that is a rather dark green now still looks black under indoor lighting but not out door lighting. And the bottom of my hair is a mix of black, dark grey and dark brown. Basically where ever there wasn't enough red pigment in my hair before the dye job it's green and everything that did have enough red pigment is fading normal. Oh and my naturally grey hairs are greenish as well but they're fading back to normal. Update: I don't know why I am unable to do a separate review for my second purchase but it's cool. I got poison and purple rain this time and they look great on unbleached hair they look great in indoor and out door lighting. I put a picture up of the split dye I did. It came quickly and I'm very happy with my purchase ๐.

Greenish?
I tried Purple AF as my first Arctic Fox product. I have naturally darkest-brown hair, and I cover greys with demi-permanent dye. I lightened a few streaks to be purple but was thrilled to find a purple hue through ALL my hair. So I decided to try Transylvania since demi-permenent dyes are getting rare. But what worried me is the distinctly green hue. There is definitely blue which I expected, but the green hue threw me off. I noticed it first when the dye was kind of dryish--near the parting of my hair and on my eyebrows, I saw a yellow-greenish sheen, as well as the inevitable skin-transfer being the colour of a teal marker. A sea-green. After washing the hair looks black enough but washed away extremely quickly. Meanwhile the green tint on my skin stayed for about 2 days after--the same as purple, but a far less pleasant hue. :/ I am hooked on the purple though. I might try mixing the purple in to counteract the green a bit (?) or trying Transylvania mixed with ritual.

Favourite hair dye
Really happy with this hair dye! The color turned out vibrant and even, and it was easy to apply. It didnโt have an overwhelming smell like some dyes do, and my hair still felt soft afterward. Fades into really cool colors too

Noir not Green
was a little concerned when it started washing out as my hair went from black to brown to green to mint, didn't last very long, it's great if your looking for just a couple of days, or a night out, but applications has to be at least every week to keep it black
