Portable Drive 4TB, External Hard Drive, Dark Grey, for PC Laptop and Mac, Data Rescue Services, Amazon Exclusive (STGX4000400)

Used to back-up my Tower PC. A great product that appears reliable and at a great price

I've purchased 3 of these 4TB external hardrives over the past 12 months and they are proving to be reliable. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the plastic casing. Previous to this I've purchased 3 of the "Business Grey" 4TB seagate external hardrives. Which you would think to be the same internal drive but with a nicer outer casing with an aluminium casing on the top. These are more expensive! and not as reliable as the cheaper black plastic casing above. So I will always order the cheaper 4TB as from now. All 3 of my "Business Grey" drives always have "error" messages when 1st playing a movie on the "Sumvision Cycline Micro 2+ 4K media player? Without fail, but after the 1st error message the files play OK. I don't have this problem with these cheaper black casing 4TB hardrives. Avoid the nicer looking, more expensive "Business Grey" drives and I would highly recommend these drives instead as they seem to be more reliable and not as sensitive.

Bought because my last hard drive was used with a Windows computer and wasn't recognised by my new Apple MacBook Air which, for me, is a learning curve. Anyway, I decided rather than reformat the old hard drive and possibly corrupt/lose music, photos, documents etc. I'd buy a new one. The last one is a Seagate, which I've had for years, so I expect some longevity from the new one. What I found was that I had to reformat the hard drive from a Windows setting to suit the Apple Macbook. Once I discovered how this was achieved it was plain sailing. The hard drive is compact, makes no noise (though I'm apparently a bit deaf), looks good, has been reliable and has held data with no issues (I'm now past the half way storage mark).

Just got a new TV, of the Samsung S90F series. At the same time, one of my external hard drives (an old 1TB hard drive rescued from an old computer 6-7 years ago, in a LiteOn enclosure), which I used as a backup for my computer, finally gave up the ghost. As the other backup drive I was using was a Seagate Basic Portable Drive, 2TB, I could buy this unit, format it to exFAT, and try it on the TV. If it worked I could get another one, and if it didn't, just reformat it for use as a computer backup. Which is exactly what I've had to do. Therefore 4 stars although maybe the blame is with the TV. There are any number of videos and pages on the internet telling you how to make an external drive work on a Samsung TV. But none of them go into enough detail nor make any recommendations about what drive to use. It's a decent, if slow, backup drive for my computer though!

I think I bought this just before storage prices went up, so for me it was decently priced. The size is great, the noise level is very low, and I can’t hear it when it’s running. It connects without any issues and has been reliable so far. The only small downside is that the cable could be a bit longer. Other than that, I’ve had no problems with it.

I bought this in February 2024 and it was brilliant. Until I had an accident in January this year when it flew through thr air and hit my cube unit and it caused fatal damage. Seagate have a 2 year warranty with a data recovery plan. I was just in time. They sent me a recertified 5tb drive and then a month after sending my faulty drive off I got an email to say the recovery was successful. I got a second drive in the post with my 2.5tb data there. 96.8% was successfully recovered and the other 3.2% was there in a file called BadFiles. And all those were amongst my files on my 2tb backup drive. A very valuable service and I'm really pleased to have chosen seagate. The second drive was a 5tb PS5 game drive so now thinking about buying another drive so I can use that as a game drive.

Bought this to backup my data from a PC HDD. It's plug and play with my windows 11. To transfer data i copied and pasted files and folders from my PC HDD to the ex HDD. Write speeds were 120 MB/s which is quick enough for me. I've not tested read speeds yet but i think the read speeds will be similar to the write speeds. I think the price i paid for this ex HDD is definitely worth it.

Very happy with this product - easy to set up, very quiet, good compact size and overall a nice appearance. Have been using for a while now and it is very reliable, would definitely recommend!

Aynı modelin backup plus slim olanı vardı. Kasasının üstü metal altı plastikti. Bunun ise yekpare plastik. Kaliteli hissettirmiyor ama elinizde dolaşan bir ürün de değil zaten. Bellikte Seagate kalitesini tartışmaya bile gerek yok. 2 TB alın kafanız rahat etsin.

We bought the 1TB External Hard Drive mainly to store images and videos especially now that we just had our first baby. Those memories are everything to us, and I didn’t want to rely only on my computer or risk losing them on a phone. So far, it’s been exactly what we needed. It’s small, lightweight, and very simple to use. I’m not a tech expert at all — just plug it in and it works. We use it strictly for photos and videos, and 1TB is more than enough space for our entire family’s memories. It’s easy to toss in a drawer or bag without taking up space. Pros: • Compact and lightweight • Simple plug-and-play setup • Plenty of storage for family photos and videos • Works with multiple devices (PC, Mac, consoles) • Great value for the price Cons: • The only real downside is the cable. It uses a specific wire for this unit. If you lose it, you’ll have to do some research to find the exact replacement. It’s not as universal as I would have liked. Overall, it gives us peace of mind knowing our baby’s photos and videos are backed up safely. For a family looking for a simple, reliable storage solution, this is a great option.

Seems like an excellent product. No issues starting up and transfers really fast. I got a protective rubber wrap around for it as it seems quite light and probably doesn't' have a lot of protective shielding.
