The barrel at it's widest point is 3.5 cm width . The chain is only about 1.5 width.

Are you sure you’re putting in the correct code on the arrowed line ? Try a jiggle and some wd40 penetrating oil Once you’ve got it open check the lock ring for changing the code is set correctly Good luck
