Copco Ice Cream Scoop - Stainless steel

I am one of those people that likes to ride the bleeding edge of technology. I pursue things that excel at their intended purpose and if they also look great, that is a big bonus. I have owned several brands of ice cream scoops over the years: from the old fashion hand scoop with the wiper action arm, to the latest KitchenAid. I thought that I had found my answer in the KitchenAid because it looked nice and worked fairly well. However, even with hand washing, the KitchenAid started peeling after a year or so of infrequent use. Back to the drawing board. I searched and searched until I found the Wilton/Copco. I waited with baited breath for it to arrive .. would it be a success or more folly? When I opened the package, I was somewhat impressed. The scoop has a nice heft to it without being overly heavy or seeming unbalanced. The little thumb stop feels great and is nicely placed. I like the rubberized back where your fingers will wrap when you hold the scoop. The scoop part looks unusual and I wondered how it would work. I took a carton of ice cream from the kitchen freezer and the scoop sliced through it like a knife through microwaved butter. I was impressed. My first scoop was very large and I thought "wow, am I scooping ice cream for a giant?! However, 3 to 4 scoops later I had the hang of it and I could easily make small or large scoops. By now, I was very impressed with the ice cream scoop. Then it was time for a real test. I went to the storage room and pulled a carton of ice cream from the chest freezer that sits at -4 F. That was hard ice cream. Let me tell you, it made absolutely no difference. The scoop went through the hard ice cream just as easily as it did the first ice cream. In fact, I was expecting more resistance so the first scoop was large. The more force you use, the large your scoop will be. A little finesse and I was making small scoops of the frozen hard ice cream. I am thoroughly pleased with this scoop, but I'll have to see how it withstands the passing of time. The price was a little high, but to me that extra price is worth the engineering that went into this item. I highly recommend this ice cream scoop, but I caution that there is a learning curve, howbeit slight.

I LOVE this ice cream scoop! It is so sturdy and durable! This is the only ice cream scoop my family has ever known growing up and when I got my own house this is what I bought. Great quality. Will last forever. Highly recommend!

Great, and it doesn't fall apart! Like other scoops do

When I first saw this scoop and seen that it had all 5 star reviews I wasn't sure what to think because I had never seen a scoop like it before. In the past I had always bought the scoops that looked like heavy duty spoons, although they never seemed to be heavy duty. After I had yet another cheaper scoop break on me while I was trying to get the ice cream out of the pail I decided to order this one because it was made from stainless steel, even though I wasn't sure about the design. After I recieved the scoop I decided to try it out on a new pail of ice cream and was amazed at how easily it dished up the ice cream. Best scoop I have ever used! It scooped up the ice cream like I had been running it under hot water (even though I didn't) and continued to work just as well on the last scoop as it did the first! I think I have finally found the last ice cream scoop I will ever buy!

I hope never to own another scoop. I have no idea how other designs even exist after this hit the market. This scoop will cut into the hardest ice cream with ease due to the pointed sides, and thanks to its open design, it releases the ice cream with ease. When my other one showed some pockmarks on the stainless steel coating after 12 years, I figured it was time to buy two just in case they stopped making them. I will put one in the motorhome or maybe at our winter get-a-way. It is probably best to do a quick hand wash, dry, and put it away if you want it to last 20 years. The first one got tossed in the sink and dishwashers and only lasted 12 years.

Perfectly designed for cutting into harder/solid ice cream. 4-1/2 stars! If they could make it dishwasher safe, I'd give it the full 5 stars.

After our Zyliss ice cream scoop was so deteriorated due to it being placed in the dishwasher (our fault I didn't read the instructions) I decided to buy a new Zyliss. However, after reading reviews for the Wilton I thought I'd give it a try. I received the scoop promptly as always from Amazon and no issues with it not being stainless steel. Yah...dishwasher safe! This scoop is far superior to the Zyliss in scooping out the toughest, hardest ice cream. I used to heat the Zyliss in hot water because for some reason Ben and Jerry's always gets rock hard. Not with this scoop. Even my nine and twelve year old can now scoop their own ice cream. My husband who rarely comments on these small purchases has repeatedly stated how much better the design is on the Wilton. Even though the shape is strange it's very easy to use. We love it and highly recommend it to anyone!

Love the sharp edge that scoops even the hardest ice cream.

We have had a few scoops, but this one is the best we've tried. We were more than happy to purchase a replacement one. It's sturdy, and the handle allows the cutting edge of the blade to be forced into hard ice-cream at the right angle and with enough force to melt it's way to chop lumps out. On the downside, we have replaced our old one because the finish started flaking off AFTER ABOUT FIVE YEARS of heavy use and the dishwasher. We thought of it as fair wear and tear, for a good value item. On the plus side, the company seem to be on top of it and have changed the finish.
