Great Mat - Durable & Forgiving
I've had this mat for about 6 months now. I've hit thousands of shots off of it in the garage during the winter and now the backyard. Couple wear spots from my most common hitting patterns but its still holding up fantastically. As a new golfer I'm still "Chunking" decently often and the thickness of the mat is very forgiving, not injuring me. I think I'll be able to get a couple years out of this mat even with my heavy use.

Durable and good quality.
Love this mat. Is pretty big I am able to hit a driver while standing on it comfortably. I would suggest getting the larger one. It’s heavy duty and has been fun to use.

Large enough to stand on and swing a driver
I don't write reviews for free anymore but I thought with this one I could alleviate some confusion. You may be shopping for a golf hitting mat and noticing wall to wall awkward pictures, poorly photoshopped images that resemble people hitting golf balls that leave you wondering how much space an actual person swinging an actual club takes up, and they're punctuated with useless reviews like "I just got one for my husband and he thinks it will work great." Well, lady, luckily you're right. The GoSports elite 5' octagonal golf hitting mat is pro quality. High class, nice feeling turf that's deep enough to bury your thumb up to the first knuckle sits on a heavy 15mm mat, and it's plenty large enough to hit all the clubs from. (In fact, I chose this one because it had an actual picture of an actual golfer holding an actual driver standing on the mat, because it was a real concern that my heels would be hanging off or something.) There's 8 holes to place the tees, one at each corner, and they're placed well to swing a driver. With shorter clubs you can hit balls comfortably almost from the center. I saw that I could have easily spent twice what I did on a hit mat and I wonder how those could possibly be better, the turf on the GoSports is genuinely lux and forgiving. I can tell when I hit a thick shot but it doesn't bury my club and suddenly stop my swing like on the affordable courses I usually play. I've hit a couple hundred balls so far with zero issues and zero signs of wear, am looking forward to using this for a few years at least if I take care of it and keep it out of the weather. A+ PS it comes folded, there's a big red sign that says "crease will disappear!" Obviously people freak out about the crease so they put a big red sign to soothe your fears, and, yes, it does disappear completely in a few days. Update: Almost 2 years living outside under a tarp when I'm not using it- holding up extremely well. I'm just now starting to see some wear where my divot would be- but I've never rotated it once. A+ purchase

Treat it like a "baby"!
I have had this mat for a few months now. I use it every weekend, and I keep it inside for storage. I sometimes use it inside as well for chipping shots. Overall it is nice. It is not as thick as I thought though. It comes in a box folded in half, and the vendor gives you instructions on how to get rid of the fold. Not a big deal. The turf is nice too. For the price I paid, it is not bad, but you have to TAKE CARE OF IT during use. I am not joking. If you leave this thing outside 24-7 to endure the weather and whatever else comes along, it will eventually fail. If you want a mat that you can "set it and forget it", then buy a more expensive one. I myself will take the time to "baby" this sucker. I put cardboard underneath outside for protection. I will eventually get a wider turf base for it. I also refuse to stand on it with my golf shoes or regular foot wear too. I do it to avoid the shedding of the turf, which is not problematic. When I use it inside, I do stand on it bare footed though. It feels great. I posted a pic of my setup. The turf is definitely more durable than the mat underneath it. On my first use, with my 4 iron, I hit the mat with the blade really hard. The turf took the hit like a champ, but underneath it I made a hard slice. I posted a pic of it. Luckily, you can't tell I did it from the turf side. I will post an update in six more months to see how it holds up.

Fantastic product
I don’t write reviews but I had to for this golf mat. It’s been outside in the snow, rain, sun for 8 months and showing no signs of wear. I use it to chip and hit full shots with foam balls. I rotate regularly. Absolutely love the product. I love the feedback from the turf material. You can tell when a shot is hit fat. I have struggled with elbow tendinitis and it flares up from most cheap range mats. Not an issue with this one.

Worth more than what I paid
I bought the 5x5 octagon elite series and was certainly skeptical with how low cost it was. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and hit a couple hundred maybe over a thousand balls by now. I have had no wear marks so far and I have to say the quality is impressive. For sure it is not the same quality as a 1,500$ mat however it works very well. It is super lightweight and moveable yet it won’t slide when you’re hitting. I have hit some fat shots and haven’t hurt myself or gotten sore so I feel that it absorbs those shots well. I also think it’s pretty responsive for the price point, obviously with good shots it feels good. I also think with slightly fat shots it resounds appropriately too it slows down the ball speed on my launch monitor but still allows the ball to fly as it would on real turf. I would definitely buy it again and honestly I’d pay more for it if I had too.

Battle tested and it passed (over 10,000 shots) - Make sure to get the PRO version
I got this for my sim I built about 5 months ago. I wanted to wait to review until it went through heavy use to see if it holds up, it does. I would typically hit 4-5 days per week averaging 100-150 shots a day. I used it for 5 months and it's still in excellent shape. Rough estimate would be over 10,000 shots minimum. This is a high-quality mat that protects your wrists. I highly recommend getting the PRO version, as the bottom impact foam is much thicker than the standard. This is worth every bit of extra money as you don't want to injure your wrists. Hitting a bad chuck or taking a deep divot was very smooth and the mat handles it very well. Durability was great, there was a very subtle mat sink from your feet, but I would just rotate the mat and it would even itself out over time. This is completely normal for these mats, and maybe only a super expensive one does not have this slight issue. The artificial turf is very durable and holds in place well after tons of iron shots directly off the mat. It does come shipped folded in the center, but the crease will go away after a bit of use. Not an issue for me personally.

No brainer on quality for value
After considering many other, significantly more expensive options, I chose this one and couldn't be happier. It feels very durable and well-made, with a nice feel. It hasn’t caused any stiffness or joint pain and has been incredibly helpful during practice. The 5x5 size provides plenty of hitting space, and you can rotate it as certain sections wear down. It also lays flat quickly after use. Highly recommend!

Love this!
Prior to ordering this mat, I had a small mat but it moved around every time the my iron clubs would make contact. This mat is a perfect size and came with different length rubber tees to try different shots etc. You can also place these tees on either side of the mat and there are 6 different spots for these. The thickness is nice and feels more like a real driving range mat. I can practice in the garage with this on the concrete floor without issues; the strike is well absorbed and the turf seems really durable so far. I've read comments that there is a crease from the mat being folded in the box & it does stand out at first but doesn't take long for this to flatten out and doesn't affect a thing. I would but this again and recommend it to anyone looking for one that is still decently priced. Sure you can buy cheaper ones, but you get what you pay for.

Dreadful
Used this product for the first time today for about 45 minutes after getting my garden practice net set up and this happens. It’s been kept dry in the garage until today. My angle of attack on shots is circa -3.4 to -5.0 and don’t usually take much of a divot so this is very disappointing.

5 Stars – Durable and Worth the Investment
I've hit well over 10,000 shots off this mat and have been extremely impressed with how well it's held up. There is no significant wear or damage, especially considering the amount of use it has seen. After every 1,000–2,000 shots, I rotate the mat to spread out the wear, and I've done this about four times so far. The hitting area does compress a bit with heavy use, but it seems to rebound over time once the mat is rotated. The 5 ft x 5 ft size is ideal for this purpose, giving plenty of room to shift the hitting area and extend the life of the mat. Based on my experience, I expect it to last for many more years before needing replacement. Another thing I appreciate is that it doesn't leave any green residue on my clubs, which I've experienced with some cheaper mats. The turf is also firm enough to provide realistic feedback—fat shots feel and perform poorly, just as they would on real grass, which is exactly what you want when practicing. Overall, an excellent hitting mat that has proven to be durable and a great value for serious practice.
