If you do not invest in your own education, then you might as well go to Las Vegas and play your hunches.The more you know about the market the better your chances. The only saving grace with the market is you can control your gains and losses.When you think you are ready to invest---Stop and study some more.In my experience we tend to trust all our 401's and IRA's to someone we do not really know. Just because we do not see our retirement cash, we tend to allow others to play as if it were Monopoly money.Folks, this is serious stuff, protect you future, read this book and follow all the references within.
