I now have 3 of these tucked in various kitchen drawers. They are great, sturdy and work well. There is an adjustable tensioner so that the slicer still works perfectly as the wire stretches. The wire will eventually break, but usually not for a year or two. Replacement wires are inexpensive and easily obtained. Highly recommend this great kitchen tool.

Love the slim shape and style over other slicers. Love the width, you can cut a really big block of cheese. Love that you can easily tighten the line if it gets loose over time. Only negative is the same as every other wire slicer I have tried... wish I had the ability to make the slices thicker using the wire slicer instead of a cheese knife. I do really like that there are 2 thicknesses automatically & I really like the thin setting. Overall I hope to have this slicer for life, I would definitely buy it again.

I had never seen a slicer like this before, but curiosity got the best of me. I'm so glad it did. I use a lot of cheese and this slicer fills the bill. It is extremely easy to use, easier than any slicer I've owned. It slices right through the hard cheese, almost like it's butter. It slices more evenly than the other slicers I've had. One side slices thin and the other side thicker. If the wire starts to get loose, all you have to do is twist the top adjuster and it is nice and tight again. And did I mention it takes up hardly no space in the drawer? Doesn't get tangled up with other utensils, either.

I was surprised by how good this slicer is. My cheese-of-choice is a semi-firm colby jack cheese from Walmart that comes in long blocks; I set the block on end and slowly pull the slicer towards me, for a perfect slice every time. The cheese itself lasts far longer than it does when pre-sliced, as well, since only the end is exposed to air and contaminants. I believe that's the key to making the slicer last: don't be impatient, don't try to force your way through the cheese, apply moderate pressure and let the wire work its way through. If you find that you always need cheese NOW, RIGHT NOW, THIS INSTANT, take your cheese block to a deli and have them pre-slice it for you. For hard cheeses, you'll likely want to find a sturdier solution than a wire-based slicer can offer.

Bummed because the design is sleek, and it worked great for the first two slices of a cheddar cheese block. On the third slice, the wire snapped. Yes, I know it can be replaced, but this wasn’t a hard cheese at all. Wishful unless the one I got was flawed.
