THE solution to making any garage door smart!
I have an old Liftmaster garage door opener from the early 2000's. It is not smart, and can't connect to wifi. I was looking for a way to be able to control it from my phone, particularly through Apple HomeKit. THIS is the solution! It's compatible with TONS of different brands and models, and you can check which brands on the Meross website. I've used other Meross products before (smart plugs, thermostat, etc), and I've never had a bad experience with any of their products. Like all Meross products, their garage door opener checks all the boxes: Reliable wifi that never drops connection, small and never gets in the way, premium quality, and easy to install and use. This product plugs into a power outlet for power (no batteries), and in my garage the outlet was a bit far away from the unit, so I had to run an extension cord, but it was no problem at all. Setup may seem challenging at first, but it's actually pretty simple. I have ZERO electrical or wiring knowledge and I was able to get this fully installed and operational in about 20 minutes. The Meross app is super helpful in the setup process. It shows step by step instructions in clear English with pictures! That was very helpful in knowing which ports to plug the wires into from the device into the Liftmaster. See attached pics for where I plugged in the wires in mine, but of course every garage door opener is different. And of course, the HomeKit paired quickly and works like a dream. I have a HomePod Mini to act as my Home Hub, so I can even control my garage door and monitor its status (is it open or closed) even when I am away from home. It also works with CarPlay, so I can now finally control my garage from my car's touch screen with CarPlay. My car does not have a HomeLink button built into the car. I even set it up with an automation, so as soon as I drive away from home it closes my garage, and when I pull up to my house it opens the garage. I do want to mention, I am personally using this with HomeKit, but I believe it works with Alexa, and Google Home as well. And you actually don't need any of those three, because you can also control it from the Meross app directly, which actually is a very solid app itself. This product is quite literally life changing, and makes my quality of life so much easier. Using this Meross product is so much more secure since I can monitor and control my garage from anywhere. Plus, I no longer am having to change the batteries in that old-school clicker every 2 months. In fact, I don't even keep that thing in my car anymore! Overall, it's a fantastic product and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to make their older garage door "smart".

Great product, but needs better instructions
This unit is very easy to install on older dry relay openers. It took about 15 minute. The instructions need a ton of improvements. They do not have a wiring diagram or anything labeled. With that being said, it’s pretty easy to figure out. The stripped purple and gray wires go directly on the terminals for the garage opener button. It does not matter which lead goes to which terminal, just make sure they are connected to the same leads as the wired wall remote control. The red and black wires connect to the open/closed sensor. You will need to buy a few more zip ties to organize the wire down the lift bracket to the opening of the door. The white wire connects to the usb power block that plugs into a power outlet near the opener.Once it is all connected, the set up in the app is very easy. I use Apple Home. I absolutely love it. I added the widget to my Apple car play and now when I get close to my house the widget appears on my car’s screen to open and close the door. In addition, I am alerted on my phone and on the tv screen (using Apple TV) that the door is opened and closed and who in my family did it. I love being able to say, “Hey siri, open my garage door.”This device will not only work for older garage openers but anything that uses a dry contact relay. Overall I am really pleased with it.I did purchase two units and one of the two that arrived was clearly used and the open closed sensor was broken. It was missing sticky tape and zip ties as well. I returned it and will get a new one. The seller should inspect “B-stock” before trying to sell it as new.If you are remotely savvy with electronics, it should take you no more than 30 minutes to install this device.

Goodbye MyQ, Hello Meross!
Absolutely love this product! I did need the accessory to work with my Chamberlain opener, and they shipped it to me within 5 days! Very easy to install, though I did use a different magnet to detect garage door state. Works amazing with Apple Home and everything is better with iOS27 and smart Siri. That said, it initiates open and close very quickly! It was a great day when I was able to disconnect the crappy MyQ Chanberlain controller, and add my garage into my Apple Hone, seamlessly! BTW: I have a detached garage with weak WiFi, and it still works great, I have never experienced an outage.

Works Great Once Set Up!
TL;DR: It works great with Apple HomeKit and Siri. It feels great to say, “Hey Siri, open the garage door,” and watch it open. Setup took some patience, but I’m really happy with the end result.Full Review:When I got my Meross smart WiFi garage door opener, I started the setup through the Meross app. After selecting my LiftMaster model, the app told me I’d need an extra accessory for compatibility. It linked to a short online form, and within a week, Meross sent the part for free. Big thumbs up for that level of support.Once the accessory arrived, I continued installation. It took a few tries to connect the device to both the Meross app and Apple HomeKit. It kept saying the connection failed, so I reached out to support. They were very helpful and had me follow these steps to get it working:Hold the device’s on/off button for 5 seconds to reset it.Leave it powered on in setup mode for about 20 minutes.Open the Meross app, tap the plus sign, select the device type, then choose the Basic version for setup. That did the trick. Once it was connected, I paired it with the accessory Meross sent. The accessory works like a regular garage remote and triggers the LiftMaster opener just like the visor clip version you’d keep in your car.Now my phone connects to the Meross opener, which sends a signal to the accessory, which then opens or closes the garage. It’s a clever workaround, and once I got it up and running, everything worked exactly as I hoped. The setup took a couple of hours, mostly due to compatibility quirks. Meross made up for that by sending the extra part for free, so I really can’t complain.A small note for anyone buying:You’ll need an Apple HomePod or similar hub if you want to open or close your garage while away from home. Without one, it only works when your phone is on the same WiFi network. All in all, I’m really pleased. It does exactly what I wanted, and using Siri to open my garage feels surprisingly satisfying every single time.

Easiest Way to Convert to a Smart Garage Door Opener
Great product. I've owned many meross products over the years - smart indoor plugs, smart outdoor plugs, and smart water leak detectors. They have all worked very well with Apple HomeKit. Truly easy plug-n-play technology. When meross asked me to test this product, I was more than happy to oblige. The device is small (about the size of two packs of cards) and weighs next to nothing. You can use it to control one garage door opener. I believe meross has a version that can control multiple garage door openers too, but this only controls one. This device transforms your simple garage door opener into a smart garage door opener which gives you the advantage of opening remotely, getting notifications when it opens or closes, and allowing your garage door to be a part of whole-house automations (I use Apple Shortcuts to close the door at a certain time every night - just in case I forget after a long day).It took me only ten minutes to do the initial set up. An additional ten minutes were needed to tidy up my work (stapling up wires and securing them with cable ties). Fortunately, I did have a free electrical outlet near the garage door opener. Then it's just hooking up two wires and running a wire with the door-open/close detector to the garage door. The hardest part was getting HomeKit set up. You must have your phone on a 2.4GHz network (my Orbi has a separate one for the internet-of-things) and be within range. After three tries, I got the device set up (I don't think this was the fault of the meross device but rather my network or my iPhone). It's been over a week now (I recorded the video on day one). And the performance is solid. What's great is I can now open the garage door halfway down the street. This means the door will be open when I get to my house - no waiting in the car. Also, HomeKit lets you know when the door has been opened or closed. No more pulling out of the neighborhood and wondering if I closed the door or not anymore. And because I can now open the door anywhere, when my teenager came home early without their key the other day, I was able to open the garage door remotely from work. I can see this coming in handy when receiving deliveries from Amazon too.I hope you found this review useful. Thanks!

Fairly simple installation
Anything you're adding to a door opener could be a challenge if you don't understand how the opener works. This little device connects where the wall button connects. Most of the time this means that if you were to take a wire and just loop from each of the two connection points on the opener, that usually will cause the opener to operate, opening/closing the door. This device does basically that. It jumps the two contacts and causes the opener to operate. The kit includes a small jumper wire to try jumping these 2 connections to test if your opener is compatible. If your opener doesn't operate when trying to jump these, you'll need their accessory kit. The kit is just a car remote with wires soldered to it for a permanent connection. You pair the remote to your opener and splice the wire to the Meross. Then the Meross acts like a "person" pushing that car remote button whenever the app/HomeKit tells it to operate the door. For HomeKit integration it goes one step further and adds a sensor so HomeKit can report if the door is open or closed. Without the sensor, the device doesn't have anyway of knowing if the door is open or closed. It is just toggling between two states. Keeping track of the state does allow for some knowledge if it's open or closed but not as reliable as a sensor is.Some of poor reviews here have mentioned the door operating by itself. I think this is probably due to a connection issue. The push in wire connectors on most garage doors aren't designed to hold 2 wires at the same time. They will if the 2 wires are the same gauge (diameter). This allows the small spring mechanism to grip both wires equally. The problem comes in when you add the wire for the Meross and it's not the same diameter (gauge) as the wiring on your opener. This leads to a loose connection. If you find your door opening on it's own, check this connection. If you can pull either the button wire or the Meross wire out of the opener, you have a bad connection. This momentary connection causes the opener to operate. I ended up having to "pig-tail" the button wire and the Meross wire, by splicing these together and then running a single wire into each connection on the opener. I soldered these since my opener, Liftmaster 885PLM doesn't have much space inside the cover for a wire nut. This gave a solid connection to both the wall control and the Meross. So if you end up with your door opening/closing on it's own, try splicing these and running a single wire into each of the 2 connection points. With the wiring squared away I ran into another issue. My opener has a "fancy" wall control with a digital display; clock, temperature, motion sensor. Every-time Meross operated the door the wall control would lose power and reset, loosing the clock and going back to a blinking 12 display. In the Meross app there is a setting for the "duration". This is how long the Meross holds it's connection between the 2 points the wiring is tied to. Setting this to "short" instead of the default fixed this issue. The wall control backlight still dims as the Meross operates but it's quick enough that the wall control doesn't reset or loose any settings.

Meross’s service is everything, plus… it just works! Apple HomeKit all the way.
I have been impressed with Meross brands for some time. They simply work. I am an Apple HomeKit user, so I focus on simplicity, but security. I can appreciate how this works. Meross is a trusted partner with Apple, and that goes a long way with me.This garage door opener is a game changer. With so many manufacturers trying to get us to join their ecosystem, I am tired of all of the different apps and methods to simply do things. We have three garage doors, and I tried this opener out on our main door. Because the door is Liftmaster, (yellow learn button), it required an accessory to work. I provided Meross with info, and in less than 3 days, had the accessory. I was quite surprised at their approach. It was very simple to setup and works with virtually NO delay. The moment I ask Siri to open the garage, it is opening within 2 seconds. Great for when we are rounding our roundabout coming to our driveway. We are able to drive right in. What is more, it gives us a second wall mounted means of opening the garage. One at the entrance to our house and another by the garage door itself. Took less than 10 minutes to setup. What is the best to me is the way Meross goes overboard to ensure complete satisfaction. That matters. To me anyway. The product is great, and I am about to order two more so that all of our doors are controlled by Apple Home. I am also going to add lights, since they work in line with Phillips Hue, which we have over 200 devices in our house and office. Nothing wrong with Hue at all, but diversity is good, and Meross has proven themselves. We have plugs, switches, power strips, and now openers. More to come. Meross is an Apple Home friendly company, whom I am happy to support.I paid for everything, (the accessory needed to work with Liftmaster/Chamberlain openers, was free). So my comments here are of a confirmed user who has had his trust earned by the company Meross. Customer Service is EVERYTHING.

Excellent HomeKit Garage Door Opener. Works Perfectly with My Stoddart Garage Door
Excellent HomeKit Garage Door Opener. Works Perfectly with My Stoddart Garage DoorI’ve been putting off buying a smart garage door opener for over a year because I have a somewhat unusual Stoddart garage door and wasn’t sure if it would be compatible. I’m glad I finally took the plunge because this Meross Smart Garage Door Opener has been absolutely brilliant. The installation was surprisingly straightforward. Someone had recently uploaded a short video showing exactly where to connect the wiring on the Stoddart control board, which made the process incredibly easy. Once wired in, everything worked perfectly.Connecting to Apple HomeKit was seamless with no issues at all. The magnetic open and closed door sensor was simple to set up and has been very reliable. What has impressed me most is the responsiveness. The moment I tap the button in HomeKit, the garage door reacts instantly. Compared to the SwitchBot setup I was previously using, which could take 20 to 30 seconds to work its way through the process before opening the door, this is on another level entirely.I receive notifications whenever the door opens or closes, and HomeKit even shows which family member activated the garage door from their own device. The automatic close feature is also fantastic, providing peace of mind if the door is accidentally left open.Overall, this is a huge upgrade from my previous setup. It’s reliable, fast, integrates perfectly with HomeKit, and feels like a proper hardwired solution rather than a workaround. Very impressed and wish I’d installed it sooner.
