Best sealant I’ve used for tubeless tires

Stan’s invented the process that let us ditch the tubes in our mountain bike tires and go tubeless. I’m not saying they are the only game in town. They aren’t, but Stan’s has built a lot of tubeless credibility in the last 22 years. Their products work and work well and I trust their rim tape to hold, their sealant to seal. I’ve watched this sealant quickly and completely seal a puncture where other sealants seemed to slow the leak, then continue weeping for some time before finally sealing. I’m not a fan of the ammonia scent, but I don’t buy it for the fragrance, I buy it to get my home when I’m 20 miles from nowhere with a lot of hard riding ahead. Stan’s tubeless sealant has done exactly that, more than once. That’s worth 5 stars every time.

If you are going tubless, Stans works well. Had a run in what a goat head patch, stans worked with about 60 stickers in my tires. When I went back to tubes (I'm heavy and cannot run low pressure), I took my valve out and used a syringe to get Stans in my tubes. Works better than slim.

First time with tubeless. There were several options to choose from for the sealant. I know many folks that use Stan's. I hung both wheels with the tire open just a little to pour 4 oz (29x2.3 tires) per tire. After pouring the 4 oz into each tire I slowly rotated them enough to finish installing tire on to the rim. (keep the rims hanging while you do all this or you will have a mess I think) Luckily I own an air compressor or I would have had to go find one. While pumping with air I massaged the bead and bang, the bead finally caught and popped into place! Grabbed tires, shook the Stan's sealant around and have not had so much as a slow leak. Impressive! Amazing how much lighter my wheels are without all the tubes and Slime. Pretty cool! Wish I would have done this a while ago. Update: Just had my first flat. Nearly a quarter inch puncture right smack dab in the middle of my brand new Nobby Nic. White sealant all over me, my bike, the guy behind me......... Argh! Anyway, stopped right away and put the punctured down to let Stan's plug it up. No such luck. Tubed it to finish the ride. Went home and saw online about using glitter. Went to Walmart, bought a 12 pack of glitter packets. Took out the tube, cleaned everything up, and started over with 4oz Stan's and one packet of glitter. Sealed in about two seconds. The glitter really worked. Very cool. Since the puncture is pretty large, a test run will either reopen the puncture or it will remain sealed. If it doesn't remain sealed, I will be back on here to let everyone know. Heck, for $2, I figure I can be the guinea pig, and let everyone know if the glitter/Stan's combo really works, even on the trails, for large punctures. Wish me luck!

I’ve used Stan’s for at least 10yrs and it kicks butt. Sure - you have to air up your tires regularly, but flats while riding will be nearly a thing of the past. I once picked up a nail while riding a road to a trailhead. The nail entered low on the side of the tread and exited near the rim on the opposite side of the tire (2holes). I held my bike horizontal and spun the tire, flipped the bike and spun the tire again. I pulled the nail - and repeated. The hissing stopped and I continued to the trailhead and road several miles of Phoenix’s South Mountain trails - then rode home. Stan’s is effective. I’m a believer.

Excellent tubeless flat protection.

The best sealant there really is no reason to try anything else. Nothing fancy it just works. I've tried a few with poor results this is all I'll use from now

Es el que usan en mi tienda de toda la vida, y no se la juegan con quedar mal con los clientes. Hace 6 años que instale el sistema tubeless y NUNCA he tenido que usar la bomba durante una ruta, ni para dar algo de presión, y eso que se me han clavado cosas en la rueda ( hasta un imperdible de la ropa de 7 cm!!), solo sacar el pincho y a seguir ruta sin mas. Ahora tengo compresor en casa y no he dudado que sellante usar. Además dura mas tiempo en uso del que anuncia el fabricante, siempre que no te muevas por zonas excesivamente calurosas. Yo vivo en Asturias.
