Wow! I am impressed. I am growing my first full beard and much to my surprise I've discovered that my facial hair comes in extremely wiry and course, kind of like an old used brillo pad left to dry out in the hot sun. After the first use of this beard balm the itchiness that was driving me mental completely disappeared and my beard was noticeably softer to the touch. After the second application all of those pokey barbed-wire bits were laying down and behaving themselves. This is a high quality product that has most definitely earned it's place on my beautiful face.The consistency is smooth and similar to that of a pomade that you would use in your hair. This makes it very easy to control the amount that ends up in your beard. It didn't leave my beard looking or feeling greasy or like I had product in it. It just left it shiny, smooth and soft to the touch. If anyone reports differently my guess is that they're using way too much. With daily use on a full beard this 4oz tin should last me months.I purchased this beard balm with some trepidation due to a handful of reviews claiming that it had a unpleasant smell. Thankfully I've discovered that the people claiming that it smelled like a "barnyard", "motor oil", "Jagermeister" or "vomit" have something seriously wrong with them that is distorting their sensory input. It smells nothing like those things and I would strongly recommend that any of you experiencing the product in this way see a neurologist immediately because you might be having a stroke. In reality the balm has a very subtle, clean, almost medicinal-like fragrance that dissipates completely a few minutes after application. Neither I nor my wife found the scent unpleasant in the least.

I've tried just about every brand of beard balm on Amazon and nothing compares to this one. I was going to mark it down to 4 stars for the lack of other scents, however I found they do carry a tobacco sent once I visited their website. Unfortunately it isn't offered on Amazon. I will purchase that one from the website if necessary the next time.This version has a black licorice or sometimes spearmint type scent to it which is not unpleasant. I would just like to add a little variety if possible.It does not leave my beard feeling oily, greasy, or waxy at all. It seems to absorb very well and leaves my beard feeling very soft and well conditioned.I have purchased this now three times and will continue to purchase.

I'm normally not one to rave about a grooming product, but I couldn't believe what a difference this balm made in my beard. It was almost like I'd gotten a facial hair transplant. This made the hair smooth, soft, shiny, and all flowing beautifully in one direction. Great for longer beards; I would say not to bother with this product if your beard is under 1" long.The scent is not overpowering. It's similar to black licorice (or the liquor Jagermeister, if you're familiar with it).The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it gave me zits in my beard. If you don't have acne-prone skin like me this may not be an issue for you.

Love the soft texture of it. I do have to get used to the smell. It smells so natural! I am used to more cologney type scents but this one is very very natural smelling. So far so good!
