Not bad.
Fantastic for the price. The furniture is low quality plastic, and the provided glue is next to useless. But, if you use some better wood glue, and don’t mind the cheaper look to a finished product, it’s not bad.

Fun to build, but you get what you pay for
For the money you can't beat this do it yourself kit. Fun to build just follow the instructions. Easy to customize.

Fun musical craft item at a great price!
I bought one of these as a test to see if it might be a good family craft idea to share with my two pre-teen grandkids. It definitely passes the "let's do this" test. The kit includes everything you will need except for sandpaper and whatever finishing coat you desire. I'll be using a good-quality wood stain on my prototype, but if the kids prefer paint I'll support their wishes. I like the fact that much of the construction is already complete. I only gave the "for beginners" category three stars because the best results will require some understanding of woodworking and/or the basic functioning of stringed instruments. I'm sure my grandkids will do fine with on this with some helpful supervision. One critical observation: the strings that come with the kit are of low quality. For another $5 or so, you can order top quality ukulele strings from Amazon. I look forward to some quality time, creating instruments and music with the grands this summer!

Disappointing, due to ...
I am experienced with hand tools, wood working and finishing, and as a guitar player am familiar with the design principles of plucked instruments. I expected this kit, with the most challenging part of the build (body assembly) already done, to be relatively simple to complete. Well, it was and it wasn't. Here are a few things that led to issues with the assembly, and a disappointing finished product: (1) the supplied glue was partially cured and so was worthless, but in any event, PVA isn't good for gluing plastic to wood; (2) The peg holes in the head thru which the tuning machines are inserted are oversized, so the machines fit poorly; (3) the quality and appearance (grain) of the wood is not suited to being clear varnished; (4) the precision of the drilled holes for the mating, via the included dowel, as well as the machining of the neck surface to be joined to the body, are poor resulting in a problematic neck angle, leading to an excessively high action; (5) the supplied nut is molded plastic with string grooves that are much too high given the very shallow profile of the frets; (6) some, but not all, of the frets were tarnished, giving the fretboard an unattractive "used" appearance. The 4-year old to whom I gave the finished instrument doesn't care about any of this. But I'm convinced that if more care had been taken in the creation of the parts going into the kit, that it would have been easier to put together, and the final result would have been more functional and better looking. Given that already finished, decent quality instruments can be had for an additional $50 to $60, I rather wish I'd saved my labor time and effort for other, more satisfying projects.

disaster averted
I purchased two of these to make for my Grandsons last year for Christmas. when I received them, the box was damaged, and the bases were creaked. I contacted Amazon and they shipped two new units out asap. the kits are very good quality, and the instruction are easy to fallow. I would purchase again.

Poor instructions and parts do not match up
This is a very poorly made product. After I custom painted everything and went to assemble it I found that the bushings were too large for the holes so I had to use a small saw to enlarge the holes but the bushings weren't fush so I had to glue them. The wooden dowel was too big so it had to be modified so I could attach the neck to the body. I am beyond disappointed at this sub par gift that I'm giving to my daughter for Christmas who has been asking for a ukulele for as long as I can remember. I'm upset and angry....this is a terrible product and it was "Amazon's Choice"....I'll never trust that again.

Can’t go wrong
My 13yo loved it, good quality for the money.

Can't complain :)
In terms of value for money - this is great, but don't expect a perfectly fitting instrument. It definitely has issues that you either have to live with if you're just after a fun project, or you'll need some professional tools and knowledge to fix up. So what could be improved: * The alignment of the neck and body uses a dowel which isn't placed exactly right * The heel of the neck the the body have a gap * The fretboard is made of plastic * to be expected, all the included and accessories are extremely cheaply made BUT again, I am happy with it and can make it work.

Christmas presents
I bought these as Christmas presents and receivers really liked them. It’s a fun and different present. Good quality and value for money. I didn’t put them together myself so don’t know how easy it was.

Good value for money for kids
My partner loves to create and build anything with wood. Currently we live in a small apartment, no garden, so I wanted to buy something that could be done at home. It’s ok, but at the end the quality of the materials could be better. Instructors were easy to follow, but due to the quality unfortunately we cannot play too much. It is ok if you’d like for your kids but for your adult partner I don’t think there’s value for money here. It is a bit difficult to tune as well. Looks ok! My partner also wants to do an especial drawing and get creative.

More of a toy than an instrument
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised given the price. The parts supplied are of low quality. For example the 'strings' are basic nylon with very little difference in thickness or indication of intended tuning. Think toy not instrument, give it to the kids to paint, build, and play with but don't expect anyone to rival Israel Kamakawieo'ole with it.

It's a great blank canvas starting point
For such a cheap price you can't complain, the fretboard was plastic so I ordered a rosewood one to fit instead, that's my choice tho and they are cheap to buy. It's nice to have a 'blank canvas' to custom to how you want it, and in that regard I would recommend

Sloppy instructions and parts
The set was missing the sanding block, cleaning cloth and installation tools shown in the manual, luckily I do a lot of DIY and have most woodworking tools. The manual says to glue the fingerboard and says this and the bridge are wood, which they are not, they are plastic, so I drilled the fingerboard to screw it in place. The manual also says to measure 3.14" and 0.19" for part placement - how on earth is anyone supposed to measure that? So a conversion to mm is in order. The saddle is asymmetric and the manual does not explain which way to install it, so overall this set is not really for anyone that is not reasonably mechanically minded. I did get a working instrument at the end and it even sounds not bad, but overall a less than fun experience.
