Philips DVP642 DivX-Certified Progressive-Scan DVD Player

We ordered this because we needed a DVD that was able to show DVD's from All Regions. It did not disappoint. We needed a DVD Player to show DVD's that were unable to play on our regular unit. We ordered an Inspector Rex series collection from Australia which would not play unless we had purchased this DVD Player. We received the unit as promised and was it was an easy hook up. We've had no issues with the quality of the DVD player or being able to play the DVD's (which are in English subtitles). We recommend this Unit even if we didn't need it for All Regions. Also, don't be hesitant because of the reasonable price because this unit has all the features of our old Unit which was three times the price.

Our previous dvd player did not have hdmi connection and was not compatible with our brand new TV, so we decided to try this Philips dvd player with hdmi. The dvd player came with printed instructions, and hooking it up to the TV was straight-forward and super easy, even for a couple of low-tech old geezers. The unit is lightweight and compact, taking up very little space, and is quiet when in-use. It also comes with a user-friendly remote which functioned flawlessly. In short, we are very pleased with this purchase and consider it a great value. Highly recommended!

I’ve had this player since late June, and it has performed well. This review is preliminary and will be supplemented in late September, 90 days after purchase.The player is compact, about half the size of others I’ve had the first on in the early 80’s. Basic DVD,, CD, and BluRay functions work reliably. I haven’t tested all-regions and formats capability.

I’m so impressed! The DVD player arrived way faster than expected—Amazon really nailed the shipping. It was securely packaged and ready to go right out of the box. Setup was a breeze, and it works flawlessly. Crisp picture, smooth playback, and no issues at all. Highly recommend if you want something reliable and hassle-free!

Arrived new. It has a solid functionality with remote and time-viewer digits, too. I also play some CD's and the "time-view" lets me know when the next song begins/ends. DVD and BLURAY play excellently. :)

Feel totally ripped off..I did not open this for over a month due to my work schedule..It does not even work and I'm past my time to return ..It is fresh out of the box ..Do not recommend.

I am an old(er) music fan and have been looking for a replacement DVD/CD player for about 6 months. Too many choices and not enough intelligent reviews listed. Then I find this awesome Phillips DVD/CD player for under $70.00! What a great deal!! It is very compact but yet has all of the features any music fan can appreciate! My stereo is from the mid 1970's, I have refurbished the speakers (Sherwyn Vega air suspension towers with real walnut wood) Sorry didn't mean to get wordy, anyway this Phillips DVD/CD completely blows away my old Sony unit!! DO NOT hesitate to buy this Phillips, you will not be disappointed! The DVD portion is great!! Enjoy your music and your day!!

This DVD player is a fine quality instrument. It is easy to use and does everything I wanted it to do. I have it connected to my TV and the pictures from the DVD player are very good. Highly recommend this player.
