CL7400 Opti - Amplified Wireless TV Headphones with Optical Connector - Over Ear Headphones for TV, Smartphones and PC - Low to Severe Hearing Loss - UK Version

First let me say that these headphones are very good. I can now watch TV without subtitles! All the various connections work, but if using the 3.5mm jack, this will cut out the TV sound to everyone else. This is “normal behaviour with the 3.5 mm jack. As others have said, the size of the ear cuffs is barely adequate. I have quite small ears, yet they do not fit inside the cuffs of the earpieces. The range is nothing like advertised – if there is a wall between you and the base unit, it is hit and miss! There are at least two versions of the instructions to be found on-line. One is mostly pictorial with brief descriptions in several languages. The other, entirely English. Both are wrong or very ambiguous in places. Because of multiple problems, I contacted Geemarc Help by email. They were, indeed, very helpful – but of course all this would have been unnecessary if the instructions and the advertising “blurb” were correct. The English instructions and many web-site summaries, and even some of the reviews here state that the volume is independently controlled for each earpiece. This is not so. There is no “independent” volume control to the earpieces – the right (or left) +/- buttons on the headphones increase/decrease the volume on both sides. The balance control does adjust the volume between the left & right earpieces, but it does not function as described. In fact, the controls seem counter-intuitive. When the balance control is activated, the “+” sign on the right moves the sound to the left earpiece (in steps of 25%) and the “–“ sign on the right moves the volume to the right earpiece (in steps of 25%). In a similar manner, the left “+” sign moves the sound to the right earpiece and the left “–“ sign moves the sound to the left earpiece. For me, the balance is the most important setting as I have significant hearing loss in my right ear, and less so in my left ear. After the “balance” is set, the volume control will increase the volume proportionately to both sides. On some websites, the description seems to imply that the tone can be adjusted on each side – this is not so. The tone is adjusted similarly to both earpieces simultaneously. All instructions state that multiple headsets can be paired. But I, like others, was unable to do this following the instructions in the booklet. After receiving further instructions from Geemarc, pairing worked. This is the instructions I received, but expanded to make them clearer. (1) If the headphones are already paired with another base unit, ensure that that other base unit is switched off. (2) switch on base unit to be paired and ensure it is receiving an audio signal from the TV – the light on the base will be green. (3) switch on the headphones to be paired (since they are not paired to the “live” base unit, the light on the headphones on/off switch will be red). (4) Now press the “pair” button on the base unit for 3 seconds – the green light on the base unit will start to flash. (5) Now, press and hold the (red) “on” switch on the headphones – it will go off – ignore this and keep pressing the switch - it will start flashing green– you can stop pressing now (sometimes it becomes a constant green for a short time). (5) The green light on the base unit will continue flashing; the green light on the headphones (flashing or otherwise) will turn red; in a few seconds both the base unit and the headphone light will be a steady green. YOU ARE NOW PAIRED! A description is provided for the direct connection of the headphones to an audio source using the 3.5mm jack plug. BUT, an important fact that is not stated - when used in this way none of the controls on the headphones work. Even the on/off switch has no function. What you hear (volume/tone/balance) is entirely controlled by whatever piece of equipment you are plugged into (mobile phone jack plug, MP3 player, HiFi, etc). Finally, a point to note is that in these headphones the battery is not replaceable. Many “competitor” TV headphones have “normal” rechargeable batteries which can be replaced when they no longer hold a charge. At the moment, the CL7400 OPTI headphones will have to go back to Geemarc – price unknown.

My last identical set lasted 7 years. Head strap cracked but with a strip of metal and gaff tape all sorted for spare TV in another room. (No complaints). However this new set even better. Did not have to get a dac adapter. This new set simply plug optical cable TV to unit and away it works. Great sound. Have no fear geemac have got it right . Happy listening for the hard of hearing.

The Geemarc CL7400 OPTI was bought as it promised optical connection to our JVC Smart FireTV. It is needed because I need the volume louder than is comfortable for my wife. Something which this unit claimed to do with the optical connection. The headphones worked with the 3.5mm cable between the TV and the base station. The headset paired with the base station without any problem. The 3,5mm socket on the TV cuts out the TV sound. I was expressly looking for a unit which retained the TV audio output. Attempts to plug in the optical cable failed totally. The plugs into the base station and the TV failed to click into place in a positive manner. I eventually was able to see a red light when the optical cable was sort of plugged into the TV at the base station end. The base station failed to detect it. The JVC Smart TV does not have RCA outputs. The instructions are simple and straight forward, but no use when there is a problem. There was no instruction on how to securely plug in the optical cable. I can not answer the normal questions as I was unable to use it. The controls are a cheep finish with the base station off/on/mono switch lacking positive positions. The volume switches are difficult to find but do have tactile symbols which one is likely to adapt to. The high gloss finish of the controls makes them harder to identify. While not the best finish I probably would have accepted the Geemarc CL7400 OPTI if it could be connected and used as advertised. I have returned the unit as “Unfit for Use” and I have requested a refund.

On the whole I'm very pleased with these. The only negative is that if I pause the TV set, even for just a few seconds, when I resume playback it takes a few seconds for the headphones to pick up the sound again. Other than that they are great. Easy to set up, comfortable and have a long enough battery life for me. They aren't cheap but they work well.

I bought these headphones for my husband who wears hearing aids but struggles to hear certain TV programmes.He thinks they are superb, the TV is now very clear with no hearing aids,just the headphones.He recommends them to anyone with hearing problems. They are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The picture instructions could also do with being a bit clearer.

I read some of the reviews before I bought the head set. I found it quite easy to set them up, you just need to study the pictures well and use a bit of common sense. The only problem I had which only lasted about 2 minutes was switching them on for the first time(pairing them with the base unit). Knowing a friend paid £190 for his through the Association for the Deaf, and that you can pay well over £200 for this type of earphones. They were a good investment and well worth the money, and I would Recommend them to anyone just use common sense when setting them up. (they do make your ears a bit worm, But no different than any other earphones). Roger Ranson RMN.

When using a 3.5mm cable to connect the TV to the CL7400, the sound while watching Netflix would continuously drop out whenever the characters stopped talking for more than a few seconds. The sound would then cut back in, but it often missed the first few words as they started speaking again. It worked better with Sky, leading me to assume that the issue arises from the way different content providers package their audio output. Nevertheless, given the quality and price of this product, this fault represents a significant flaw in the smooth sound experience it aims to deliver.

L'unico problema è che con la spina inglese ho dovuto acquistare una riduzione per poterla collegare alla rete e nelle descrizioni del prodotto non era specificato

wie soll man das Gerät anschließen ein Netzteil wo man einen Adapter braucht der nicht dabei ist, mit eiem usb kabel könnte es auch gehen fehlt aber ,eie Instalations anleitung nur in englisch keine kaufempfelung was tun ? zurück schicken ?
