Helpful for UC
I bought this product because I have UC and it was recommend for my gut lining. I have been using it for a few days now with other supplements, and although I cannot 100% attribute my symptons tothe slippery elm, I will share that my bowel movements have not gotten worse. I really think that the slippery elm has helped with preventing inflammation. I drink this in the mornings, on an empty stomach, I drink it with warm water. I read somewhere it is not recommended it to drink it with boiling water. I will say it doesnt mix well. There's definitely some leftovers and chunks after I'm done drinking it. I typically just add more water and dont really mind it. The color is a little muddy, it doesnt look appetizing and it tastes a little earthy, but I dont mind. I think the color and taste are bearable. Once I am done drinking it, I wait a couple of minutes to let in do its thing before I consume the rest of my morning supplement routine.

It is healing and works fast on heartburn and other
Slippery Elm is one of those herbs everyone should have in their cabinet and carry in their purse, etc. It helps relieve pain in your stomach and chest. Watch Barbara O'Neill for the full uses of this herb. I no longer use traditionally used chalk tablets by many companies.

Soothe the gut. Most inflammation comes from the gut. Kinda hard to dissolve but it will.

Updated shake the bottle of powder before you mix to get the best chance of a gloopy mixture
I am updating my review. The previous one is down below. Iโm adding a picture. It turns out that the bottle is not consistent in terms of the powder so today when I got the scoop of powder and added roiling bubbling boiling water to it, it created quite a clump of viscous slippery goo, which is what we all want from slippery out so my suggestion is shake the bottle and try to stir it up because it may be that youโre getting the outside of the bark in some scoops and the inside that gets slippery in another scoop and itโs not homogeneous so I changed my review to five star stars today October 23. This is the previous review the words after this :This is not slippery and it doesnโt create a viscous substance. I follow the directions, but this is a very dark powder and it doesnโt Gloup up as it seems slippery. I was supposed to do the directions were to simmer it in hot water for a few minutes not just put it in cold water and drink it. I tried both, but it never got more than just something that colored the water and it didnโt create a viscous substance and I read that thatโs what slippery I was supposed to do. I shouldโve read the other reviews. Iโm not sure if itโs had any impact on my digestion yet, but I did wanna comment that this does not create a vicious substance so anyone who expects that donโt buy this product and the same thing happened with the capsules I opened up the capsules and it was a dark powder, not a light tan sand colored powder, and itโs the same stuff in the capsules as in this bottle of powder

Changed formula
This powder did not dissolve or turn into a gel when a little water was added. I've used this product for years starting with the capsules for acid reflux and it worked wonderfully. Later I discovered it was also useful for upper and lower digestive problems in dogs. I've added the powder to my dog's food with great results. This last bottle was slightly darker, didn't mix well, or become gelatinous when prepared. I noticed the batch I mixed for the food sat at the bottom of the bowl in a very thin watery puddle. I thought possibly a bad batch or counterfeit even though I've ordered nine (9) times from the same supplier with no problems previously. Decided to go directly to Now Foods for future purchases and discovered that there are many complaints on their website citing the same thing. Sadly we can't rely on any companies to provide a decent product without cutting costs and selling inferior merchandise.

Soothes CAT'S tummy!
My cat with IBD suffers typical symptoms including nausea and upset stomach. I read and now wholeheartedly believe that slippery elm works like Pepto-Bismol (which is toxic to cats), coating the tummy and providing swift relief to cats and I'd imagine all pets. It does a myriad of other medicinally beneficial things for cats that I encourage everybody to do a quick online search. I promise you'll be amazed! This is a an absolute MUST item in my kitty medicine arsenal. NOW brand is an inexpensive yet 100% trustworthy source of quality SEP - - which is critical, as I've actually tried a couple other brands in capsule form that appeared legit but once prepared smelled noxious/burned, thus obviously NOT pure & full of God knows what random fillers. **I mix ONE heaping TBSP in 1/2cup cold water in a glass sauce pan, bring to boil then immediately reduce to simmer for 3-5mins. Stir/whisk constantly (I use a fork). Finished product will be think, gelatinous (PERFECT to soothe tummy), some call it "gruel". I fill a 5 cc syringe & administer orally then store remaining gruel in fridge for up to 1 week. FYI - You can't really mess up proportionately so don't sweat it! Above pep method is preferred but in a pinch, you can forgo boiling & simply mix & serve. For single dose, I eyeball appx 1/2 TSP powder to maybe 1 TBSP water. Good luck!

Awesome for IBS!
NOW Foods Slippery Elm Powder is the perfect remedy for IBS. I bought one container in May and another in June (because I thought I would run out of it while on vacation). I still have not run out of the first bottle. Slippery Elm powder can be put in teas, soups, in oatmeal, and on peanut butter toast. I first tried it in tea, and it wasn't too bad, taste-wise. Then, I put it in soup one evening, and it was okay. It reminded me of pea soup; fortunately, I like pea soup. It smells like brown sugar, but I don't recommend eating it plain because the smell and taste are different from each other. Slippery elm powder mixes well into oatmeal; I also add a little butter, Stevia, and almond milk to the oatmeal. I especially love slippery elm powder on peanut butter toast. I usually put honey on the peanut butter and sprinkle a teaspoon of slippery elm powder on top. Then, I eat the whole thing, sandwich-style. My IBS is not as severe as other people's, so I only need to take a tsp. a day of the powder. If I don't eat it at breakfast time, I mix a tsp. with warm water and chug it down after work. With just water, the mixture is not very tasty, so I add a packet of Stevia sugar to it. If you have IBS, I highly recommend NOW's Slippery Elm powder because it works!
