Makes listening to your CDs convenient
Ripping my CDsI needed to rip my CD collection and wanted to play them at home with out a hassle. So I started looking for a replacement for my CD player.I read online that there are programs you can use to rip CDs but it seemed not so easy and didn't want to waste a lot of time.I googled and found Micro Jukebox. They said it would automatically rips CDs and store them up for me. When you're done, you can play your music on different devices.I ended up buy this and the Sono's 5. The combo seems to work pretty well with fantastic sound.SonosI chose the Sono's Play 5 as my playback device based on everything I read. The micro Jukebox showed up on it automatically and I was it was pretty easy to play my old CDs. Sonos lets you control is from an Android phone which is handy. The Sonos can play music directly from your Computer but in my case I have a laptop which doesnt work if the laptop is in sleep mode or off. I don't want to rely on that. The sound quality was surprising, Really. You can use the Sonos app to play streaming radio which is good. I found that my old CD music stored on micro Jukebox sounded much better on the Sonos.CD player replacementThe microJukebox can also act as a CD player replacement. I used a USB to SPDIF converter to attach the microJukebox directly to the SPDIF input on my Denon A/V receiver. I could then use the Orangesqueeze app on my Android phone to control playback directly to the receiver. With the app I could create playlists from my music collection using track the microjukebox had ripped from my CDs. I could also listen to music files I had purchased from Amazon and iTunes. The ability to make playlists out of my music was huge. Before with my CD player I usually listened to all the tracks on one disc. Now I can mix them up.I love the simplicity of Sonos but there is also something to be said for straight playback on my receiver. I have a 5 speaker surround sound setup and it was nice to be able to use that for music as well as surround sound for my TV.ConclusionThe microJukebox is great for recording/ripping your cds and sounds great when paired with a sound device- Easy to use- Solidly build (The case is nice, the light is a bit bright)- Rips CDs automatically- You don't need a computer to use itAfter 3 weeks I'm pretty happy.
