Reliable, long battery life, and since they use wi-fi you can always check your temperatures
I have been using these Govee H5179 remote temperature / humidity sensors for a long time and am very pleased with their performance. My house has a detached garage where I have a refrigerator and I have one of these in the freezer compartment and another in the fridge compartment. They connect to the app via wi-fi so I can check them any time I want and be sure that the fridge is working properly. The 3-AA batteries in each sensor last for several months at a time. I've got another of these in a small greenhouse with a heater I use in winter and I can make sure that the temperature in there stays above freezing. As long as the batteries are good - and as I say, they last several months at a time - the sensors are reliable and keep my app updated. The app lets me see temperatures over the past hour, day, week, or longer which is helpful. Each sensor can be fine-tuned via the app to agree with your other thermometers, if you want to do that. I've stayed with these Govee units for 3 or 4 years now and like them.

Easy Setup and Perfect for Monitoring Pet Rooms
Super easy to set up through the app, and it connected to Wi-Fi in minutes. I use it to monitor the temperature and humidity remotely for my cats, and it’s been really reliable. The app alerts are quick, and I love being able to check readings anytime. Great quality and value! Definitely recommend if you need to keep an eye on your home environment or pets while away! Pros: easy setup, accurate readings, instant alerts, remote monitoring, great value

Critical Failure (but fixed)
Update to original review below: Govee Technical Support says that it found the problem described below and pushed an update to all affected devices on August 21, 2021. Indeed, all four of my Govee devices are now functioning perfectly well. And the best part of it is that I had to do nothing... the problem just "corrected itself". I changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars since the basic unit functionality is really very good. I am assuming that Govee did indeed really fix this issue and that in the future the units will not appear to have lost Wifi connectivity when they actually have not lost it. Thank you, Govee! Original Review: I have four of these Govee units running into two widely separated physical location. Each location uses Nest (by Google) WiFi routers. When it works, the Govee app reports the appropriate temperature and humidity data. However, sporadically, the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability and stop reporting all data. At that point, if the Govee unit is local to you, you can use the app to correct this situation. However, if the Govee unit is not accessible from your location, it is useless until it can be accessed via Bluetooth from the app. All four of my units have gotten to this state, so it is not a particular physical device that has the problem. I used the words "the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability" intentionally, because I believe that they actually have NOT lost WiFi communications ability. I think that there is a software bug that is leading to them reporting that, and to stop displaying data, even though it is not true. The Nest WiFi system monitors usage of all devices. It maintains data on devices (such as phones) even after they have completely physically disconnected. If the same device subsequently logs onto the Nest WiFi system, the statistics go into the same bucket. The Govee device is very clever and (presumably to save battery) completely disconnects from WiFi when it is not reporting data. However, each device seems to have a unique ID beginning with "ESP" and thus its WiFi usage can be tracked by the Nest WiFi system despite its complete disconnection from WiFi.. Much to my surprise, all of my Govee devices that are marked in the Govee app as not having WiFi connectability, regularly connect and upload and download data (presumably to a Govee server). Furthermore, their upload and download byte counts are approximately the same when the Govee app shows them as connectable to WiFi and when it shows as not connectable to WiFi. This would seem to indicate that the Govee device sometimes CAN connect to WiFi even when the Govee app shows that it cannot. It would seem that some event occurs to make the Govee app flag the device as not-connectable and not report data even though the device is actually connecting and apparently reporting data to the Govee servers. Govee support seems to be really good if you are having routine setup issues. They are patient and walk you through what you need to do. However, in this case, they suggested that I have "someone" that was local to the Govee device download the Govee app, connect via Bluetooth, and reset the WiFi connection. This is obviously not a viable solution for remote monitoring. Since the Govee units go to this state regularly (it seems to take about three or four weeks), it makes them effectively unusable for long-term monitoring. Which, I think, is a pity, since the unit itself really works and makes a lot of "sense" for remote monitoring. I have entertained the idea that there is something nefarious going on here, since these devices are placed in people's property, and connect on a regular basis to the Govee server. But it seems to me that is really a software bug.

Works perfectly.
Works extraordinarily well. It shows high, low, average and everything in bwtween for temperature and humidity. It shows it on a chart for the day, week, month, or year. The wifi works perfectly and I can check on it from anywhere on my phone. Love it. I'm not a compensated reviewer, I paid full price. I'll probably order a couple more.

Why does GoVee need to track your location?
Device operates as described, however, the ap requires you to turn location services on on your phone, and you use Bluetooth to configure the device--- and I keep Bluetooth turned off to conserve battery power. With your blue tooth on-- the app opens very cleanly, but as soon as you turn Bluetooth off-- you get a warning asking you to turn it back on-- the app still works fine--. My personal opinion of all this is that the GoVee app is gathering you location information, and maybe using WiFi or Bluetooth to triangulate you location. I see no reason that they need this info for the device to operate...

they work awesome batteries last almost a year I've seen people on here saying that they only last 3 months but that's not right the batteries that were in it lasted for more than 8 months they seem to hold accuracy quite well I calibrate them with a very high quality humidity and temperature gauge and they seem to be accurate over a long period of time. The ability to I have an app that tells you your VPD at any point in time is priceless and invaluable in a greenhouse

Easy to set up the app. I set it up so that I get notifications when my temperature is over a certain limit. I live in a humid country where I need to monitor my home’s humidity when I’m away for a while (I turn on the AC remotely) to avoid mold. Quite happy with this device.
