WORKS GREAT ON KNIFES RAZOR SHARP

These are good, Leather honing belts It really helped take the burr off my knives So far the durability has been good and I have to have any issues These are great belts for the value of the money.

Worked well but ended up sharpening the knife at the same level as using 5000 grit belts. I was looking for a little more. Works well but really not a great improvement over the 5000 grit. I will probable try a different buffing compound and see if it helps but a very well made product. I use leather on a couple of other sharpeners that I use and this is on par.

Purchased the Ken Onion knife sharpener for my son who is a meat cutter. He asked me to locate a new 6000 grit belt as it finally wore out. After selecting a box of just the 6000 grit belts I saw this “honing stroup” belt. Having past experience with sharpening straight razors I decided to get it for him. Good decision in every respect. He thought the 6000 grit belt was great but finishing with this he is blown away with the final edge. A word of caution in selecting the correct belt(s). This fits the Ken Onion knife sharpener, model WSKTSKO which uses a 12” belt. The belts are easy to be confused with those for the Blade Grinder Attachment, model WSSAKO8112, which uses a 18” inch belt. They both look the same, just different in length. When viewing the product you will have 3 options, a single belt, a two pack, and a three pack. Regardless of which is your choice HIGHLY RECOMMEND you click on the “1 pack” as it has an installation/operation video there off to the side which is not present on the other two quantity selections. This will show how to install and adjust the belt. I suspect that the reviews reflecting problems in adjusting the belt, etc., would have been avoided had they viewed this excellent video.

I have wanted to try this ever since I got the sharpener. Finally I recently got it. When I got it I thought I would sharpen a knife with the normal belts first then do the leather. But then I thought why not just try using the leather and see how it does on its own. I tried the knife first and it would not shave my arm hair or even cut paper very well. I did the leather just 2x per side. It sliced through paper so easily and easily shaved hair. I've since just used this on other knives and the most I've had to do it is 4 times per side. My knives are now scary sharp. And I have 2 small cuts to prove it. I highly recommend it. I wish I had bought it the first time I saw it. If any issues come up I will update my review.

Put the belt on the machine worked great on 1 knife . When I started the second knife the belt started to make a different noise then it started to come apart.

I am not sure, if anyone would need these honing leather belts. It works - but makes quite a lot of mess. At the end your knife is polished, which isn’t necessarily (in most cases) superior to a very fine grit (kinda micro-serration). And the “grease stone” makes a lot of mess overall. Hence it works - but in most cases it is kinda overkill...

Extremely expensive for a piece of leather. Works just as good with a few strokes on a leather strap.
