Is this unit bottomless or do you have to tip it upside down to get the compressed rice out?

It is bottomless. You lift up the mold after compressing the rice.

can you clean this in the washing machine?

I prefer hand washing because it does have corners where sticky rice does stick to it, but otherwise it can be washed in the dish washer

Can this be used for nigiri? 2 fingers of rice compressed with a layer of raw fish on top?

Yes it can be used for any topping. I used Rice ,Spam,and kimchee tasted delicious.

What are the dimentions of the mold?

I don’t know the exact measurements, BUT it is the exact size of a slice of spam. So you put the mold on a piece of seaweed, add the spam slice , sauce, and cooked rice press with the plunger, wrap the seaweed around the spam and rice.
