Standard hammer for installing underlayment
This hammer is very handy when laying underlayment on a roof. The magnet holds the capping nail in place while swinging it down. The back holds a razor for cutting the felt and there is a claw under the head for removing nails. The handle is at a slight angle off perpendicular to reduce scraped knuckles. It takes a little practice to get the swing right to drive the capping nail straight, but once you get the hang of it you can't go back. This is a Made in USA, quality tool. Definitely worth the investment, even for the occasional patch job.

Not a nice as I was expecting
The hammer works great for underlayment. Which is why I wanted it. I did hit my finger the day before it arrived. For me it was worth purchasing.

Works great
The quality is superior. Really a very good tool. Ordered nails with it. The nail package had poked through packaging but were all stuck to hammer

The hatchet is great for hand caps
I give it 4 stars because of the price not the product they are fairly proud of this thing. The hatchet is great for hand caps. You can go almost as fast as a cap gun once you get used to it. Took me about 10 Sq of paper before I really started getting the hang of it. It takes a weird feeling pushing swing with your hand very close to the roof deck as the head hits the deck to keep from bending up the nails. I took the Gage off, I rarely lay 3 tab nowadays and I'm not a hand nailer anyway. I have done a couple shingle repair jobs with some hand bangers and really don't care for it , like I said the weird swing it takes to drive a nail straight can be hard on the knuckles if you graz a shingle during your swing. The nail puller on mine is only good if the nail is sticking up more than a little otherwise you can't get under it. I like the fact it takes regular hook and straight blades, it will cut shingles well with either blade in but I only really use it to dry in so I use a straight blade. It's of good quality,it should last a while and overall I'm happy I got it and will continue to use it.

Best roofing hatchet on the market!!
There is not another roofing hatchet that can compete with this one! It is the top dog no doubt!! The magnet changes the game!

Great for felting. Haven’t seen any other use for it.
I can hit plastic caps down really fast but my guys not so much. Using this hatchet and metal caps makes them cap nail felt like 200 percent faster! And you don’t have to be a veteran roofer to go fast. It’s so easy to just go fast every person on the job can go fast. Makes felting a dream easier. I don’t really see it being good for handbanging roofing nails though. The magnet is smooth (no waffle) so its likely to slip off nail. Also I can see having a nail on the end of the hatchet without knowing and you go to set another nail! OUCH! Good for felting, nothing else really.
