KEEN Men's Targhee III Mid Height Waterproof Hiking Boot

These boots got used very lightly during the week, and extra heavy during most weekends for long hikes through Florida trails in sand, dirt, and mud.Good ankle support for versatile terrain, tread was never an issue, never slipped on wet rocks but I also didn’t test it often. Size I usually buy fit very well, 12w. A bit firm at first, but will break in.The pair lasted the 10 months with minimal care in cleaning (occasional brushing sand/dirt, keeping dry)Eventually the material started peeling and now the waterproofing’s compromised.Because of the waterproofing they run a little warm, but it’s worth the trade off on days after the rain not to have soaking wet feet.

I've been buying Keen's for 16 years now and have gone through dozens of pairs of their hiking shoes. Lately, I have toned down my hiking, but I still like the Keen shoes for daily wear. I am a loyal Keen enthusiast not only because they make a great shoe, but once, in 2012, I had a pair of Targhee II that had a faulty eyelet that broke the first time I wore it. Keen promptly replaced the boots with no questions asked. That action by them made me a Keen customer for life.These Targhee III's are replacing another pair of Targhee III's that will now be relegated to yardwork only. These hiking boots have a relaxed feel - they are light and nimble (not heavy or clunky). I feel comfortable doing anything in these boots and that is why they are what I wear 80% of the time. My wife wears a more, 'traditional', hiking boot and she only wears those on the trail because they do well on the trail, but aren't great anywhere else. These Keens are champs on the trail and perform well in most other situations as well.I love that they are waterproof and that the soles are grippy. I have never lost my footing because of my Keens. If you've never worn Keens before, the toe box is large and roomy. My feet are narrow near the heel and normal up front - these boots are snug on my heel and leave room for my toes.

I go through shoes like toilet paper. Live in the mountain with very rough ground. Walk miles a day. These shoes fit like you put your foot in a mold. I’m used to climbing muddy grass hills while slipping and sliding like I’m on ice skates wearing new Rocky’s but these shoes would climb an ice hill. Litterally stood in a dozen truck bed on a hill and felt as sturdy as baseball cleats on flat ground. You want good shoes go keen.Update. They have started to come apart and I haven’t even had the chance to be rough with them. It’s been about 3 months now. Very disappointed as they still fit and feel wonderful

This is my 3rd pair of Keen mid heights in a row over the course of about 8 years now. The first two pairs lasted me a solid 3+ years each (I still have the last pair as my BS around the house/basement boots). Awesome boots that I got every cent I paid out of. I'm not through-hiking the Appalachian trail or hiking to Everest base camp in these, I'm just doing some moderate hiking, stuff in the yard, out to the store, hanging at the dog park, etc.Within 3 months the waterproofing was shot and my socks were getting wet. And I'm not talking water/mud up to the laces, literally any water over the top edge of the sole. I add my own waterproofing to all my boots (regardless of what the manufacturer says), since I don't like wet feet.Just a little over a year in and the sole is completely pulling away from the upper. A pair of boots should be able to hold up to at least 2 years of mild/moderate dog-dad hikes, yard work and time at the dog park. It's unfortunate because their boots always fit well, feel great on my feet and look good. I'm not a rich man, but I like spending my money on quality gear that I know will last me, and with that being my primary concern, I'll no longer be able to justify buying Keen boots.

I expected them to last at least a year.Pros:• Very lightweight.• Breathable — feet don’t sweat much.Cons:• Durability is disappointing, didn’t last long.• The laces are way too long, which is dangerous for construction boots — you can step on them and trip. Sometimes the metal lace hooks caught on each other while walking, also a risk of falling. This happens with all boots of this type.Overall: Comfortable and light, but not built for long-term heavy use.

This is my second pair. Word of caution, if you get them wet, the cheap plastic will disintegrate. It happened to my first pair and also to others that have them. Having said that. They are super comfortable, hence I ordered another pair.FWIW. I also tried on the new model, they are not as good. Too narrow, longer and look cheap.

After buying these they were immediately put to the test as I went to a friend's acerage to help him blaze hiking trails everywhere. Carrying hiking packs, chainsaws, water and gear.Prior to receiving these shoes I was on his property and at the end of the day my feet hurt so bad almost couldn't walk. After getting these shoes and doing the exact same style of performance my feet were not killing me, they were just tired from being used all day. That's when I knew I made the right purchase.I've since hiked various places, including testing the waterproofing. As long as the water doesn't go above where the tongue bends you're completely waterproof. I was removing brush and logs from creaks and my shoes were completely under water to the tongue bend line for hours and not one drop of water entered my shoes.Now one cream I had to cross with gear and that water went near the top of the shoe line where the last lace system is and my feet were soaked. I knew water would enter just didn't have a clue how much. However when you own the shoes and look inside you can see a silver material that lines to a certain height. That's the waterproofing. Anything above that line isn't the shoes fault for water.For my size foot it's hard to find good hiking boats but I must say I'm loving these shoes.Oh one last thing. When I first purchased them I secured my heel into the back of the boat and laced then up good and snug. I noticed pain right at the top of the boat. Almost to the point I was concerned if these would work for me. The pain came when I'd be on an angle hiking and that portion of the boat dug into my skin and bone. I chose to loosen the boats and tie tight before going up the last two tie systems. That fixed the issue while I went through break in. Now they're tied all the way to the top and no issues what so ever.

El producto es muy bueno, resistencia, el agarre, el interior, pero la plantilla es de un material de muy baja calidad lo cual hace el pie resbale dentro y genere todo un caos, antes las plantillas eran una maravilla ahora su calidad es PÉSIMA.

Perfect fit, even better than its predecessor, the targhee II mid which I had for 4 years. Walked 8 kms on the trails right out of the box and very comfortable, no hot spots or rubbing. Very impressed.

I wore this for hiking Mount Rinjani recently. It was raining a lot and although my socks got wet eventually (as expected from many hours of rain), this shoe held up very well and the insides were not soaked or saturated with water, just wet.

Bought these boots to replace my old boots I use for Nordic walking the comfort and quality of the boots was noticeably size and fit was perfect for my feet and this has been proven over the last few months of wearing them. Waterproof is excellent no problems have arisen while wearing them. Sole grip has been positive and after an exercise session my feet feel like they haven’t been anywhere which is proof of a good pair of boots in my estimation. One more thing to note is the in the summer they also keep your feet cool as well. Great value for money and when the time comes to replace I would definitely buy again if there still available.
