Been using this product off and on for over a year now, and went back and forth as to how much I like it. In the end, it's good enough for me to keep using, as it's lack of overall effectiveness is offset by the overriding convenience factor. First of all, it doesn't work as well as the original formula Just for Men. That's conclusive and there's no doubt about it. However, the original formula is very messy, as it's very liquify and splashes all over. You've got to really line your sink and walls with newspaper because it definitely stains most surfaces. You also have to use vaseline or lotion on your face to make sure it doesn't run and stain your skin for a few days. Secondly, if you have short hair like me, even if you soak your head entirely with the product, you still only use about half the product, which simply feels wasteful. This product is thick, like toothpaste, and is easily applicable. I use a fine barbershop style comb, apply the dye to the comb, and comb it through my hair. It works much better than the included brush/comb attachment. This product's best attribute is that it doesn't splash at all. I don't have to line my sink, nor do you really have to put lotion or vaseline on your ears or forehead to prevent staining - it just doesn't run. Use a pair of gloves and that's it. Also, if you have short hair like I do, this product will last a few applications. I can usually get 3 applications per tube - just squeeze out all the air and close the cap tight. I wonder if the product does lose some effectiveness by the third application (which for me is about 7-9 weeks or so later), but it still works. Bottom line of the effectiveness of the dye? Like I said, it doesn't work as well as the original formula. It has a hard time catching short hairs. Even after I apply it liberally, many of my shorter hairs on the sides of my head I realize aren't dyed after I get out of the shower. They were fully covered in dye before and looked great. I don't even bother trying to dye my hair after a fresh hair cut anymore, as it's simply too short (a 1 clip). If i need my hair dyed right after a haircut, I'll dye it right before. Otherwise, I wait about a week. With the longer hair on the top of my hair though , it does a satisfactory job. Just get it in thoroughly, and let it sit for a minimum of 10 minutes. Overall, 3 stars for the actual effectiveness of the dye as it struggles with shorter hair and just generally washes out faster than the original formula (granted i wash my hair at least once a day), and 4 stars because of the convenience factor - which for me, given how often I cut my hair, makes this a solid product. Hopefully Just for Men will improve the effectiveness of it over time.

REAL BLACK: I was skeptical at first but I had way too many grey hairs coming in so decided to try this out. I have natural black hair so the greys stand out a lot. I wanted a color that would match mine and not look too black to the point that it’s obviously dyed. So I chose the “real black” color and it was perfect. I didn’t do my entire head but just focused on the grey areas and applied it with the brush attachment. Let it sit for about 10mins and then took a shower. Dried it and no residue on the towel. It looks great! I also purchased the mustache and beard kit from them in the same color and it also worked like a charm but a little messier to apply. One tip I suggest is wear a shirt you don’t care for or no shirt. If you have conditioner or Vaseline apply it on your skin near the edge of your hair etc to create a barrier so that it doesn’t stain your skin because it will stain easily. Also make sure to test it on a small part of your body that’s not visible to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction.

I ordered this hair dye in the shade black, but unfortunately it didn’t perform as advertised. After applying it exactly as instructed and washing my hair, the color developed into a light purple blue violet tone instead of black. The coverage was uneven and nowhere near the shade shown on the packaging. Very disappointing experience, especially since I needed a true black color. I wouldn’t purchase this product again. I gave it 3 stars because the comb is a great idea and easy to use.

I'm only 26, but I've had gray hair since I was a teenager. I have had to pretty much deal with hair dye for over ten years at this point so I always kept my hair longer to avoid constantly touching up the color. However, ever since I discovered this comb-in dye, I've been in love with it and haven't switched back to any other dye. Very useful and fast. Easy to apply. Can finally wear my hair shorter more often. I tried the Just for Men Shampoo and it didn't really do the trick the way this does. The shampoo just turned my fingernails black (I know it says to avoid the nails but give mesome grace)

This was a waste. I’ve followed the instructions and it keeps washing off. The color won’t stay no matter what you try. Awful product. If I could give it a -star I would.
