Perfect size for one or two people's needs
Perfect size for just the two of us. It would be too small for a larger family. We put it on a cookie tray and it makes counter clean up easy. Heads up, because it's smaller, if you dump too much stuff to fry in it all at once, it'll drop the oil temp which is less than ideal for proper frying quality. Solution - don't over load it. Also someone wrote that the lid breaks off easily. Maybe, but we like how easy it is to remove / install the lid - and we just do it carefully so we don't damage/break the plastic mounting hinge(s). Lastly, we appreciate that because it's smaller, we don't need to use a whole gallon of expensive oil to deep fry a smaller quantity of things for just the two of us.

Great for one and…
Almost perfect for one person. The 1l size and temp setting ability are exactly right for frying a couple small pieces of chicken or one large piece. It comes up to temp quickly, stores easily, doesn’t waste oil. If you want to make a fried chicken sandwich for yourself- this solves the problem. If you don’t overload the power/volume is good for maintaining temp after adding food. It’s also great to cooking a small amount of fried food as a side for larger groups or to use along with a hotpot for frying at the table. The downsides are minor. As mentioned in other reviews, the light is always on and doesn’t reflect temperature. In fact, there is no “off” position. Just disconnect the well designed magnetic power cordBottom line: it’s great for me!

Works well, small size saves oil, light duty construction, great basket
PROS:Small, perfect for one person to minimize $$ oil use.Oil temp is highly accurate.Good basket, lid contains the heat & steam, removes for easy cleaning.Everything stores fully inside.Magnetic power connector is clever and practical: if someone yanks the cord, it disconnects rather than tip over; allows for one-handed connect/disconnect.CONS:The light is just a 'power applied' indicator, does not tell you when the oil is up to temp.Light duty: thin, un-coated aluminum oil reservoir and plastic hinges on the lid.Be aware that it is small, for one person - saves oil but small batch size.

Love it! Love it! Love it!!!
I rarely write reviews, but I received the Presto 1-liter deep fryer today. I immediately opened the box, washed it, and prepared to fry fish for dinner. Let me tell you, I have "nothing but praises" for this deep fryer and to Presto for making such a quality small size appliance! I love the fact that it has a built-in splatter screen that allows you to cook with the lid closed to prevent oil from popping all over your counter, a handle that folds into the fryer when not in in use, and a regulator to adjust the cooking temperature. It also has a magnetic power cord which I like as well.I used to have the Fry Daddy and I could not stand the fact that I couldn't control the temperature. Presto has the right idea!If you are considering getting one and you are in an RV (like me), an apartment, or any small living unit and want to be able to deep fry foods, definitely take the plunge. Just be aware this is a "one or two person appliance". If you have a family you will want to get a larger one.I reviewed five (5) different small deep fryers before deciding on this one and I am not disappointed in the least. I also like the fact that it's covered by a one-year warranty.

Perfect
It’s really small good for one maybe two people this is my second one. I did away with the deep fryer couple years back but I realize I really missed it so I got another one. It’s a good product perfect.

New to deep frying--Worked for doing Zucchini Blossoms
Brand new owner, just received and used already.Oil will oxidize rapidly and go rancid much faster if left in, PLUS one should filter out small bits that will burn and cause smoking. Plus, even though it states that the inside is anodized aluminum it can still leach some aluminum; therefore, it's best to remove it when not being used. (Wish they had this unit with ceramic coating on the inside!) After oil cools, put a coffee filter inside a metal (not plastic) screen strainer, place over a 4-cup glass Pyrex measure. Afterwards, remove any plastic pour-assist thing that may be inside the oil's bottle opening and pour from the measure back into the bottle.I had never used a deep fryer before, and did not want to waste lots of oil that would be needed in most all other deep fryers as they are larger. I tried deep-fried Zucchini Blossoms (flowers)--some male and some female flowers (females are the ones with the zucchinis growing attached. I tried both non-stuffed and a few stuffed. I read the booklet beforehand which suggested NOT using the basket if you use a batter as it can make the food stick to the basket so I didn't use the basket. I used 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1 cup sparkling water room temperature (from Giada's recipe). I only did one at a time. In order to NOT introduce any more moisture/water I selected only clean good flowers from my garden and did NOT rinse them in any way. Just dipped in batter covering well and slowly put into the oil. NOTE: The temp dial is way off. I used a dig thermometer and had to move the dial pointing almost at the "3" in the "390" in order to get 350-360 degrees. With my first blossom done I quickly measured the temp to see how much it dropped......to about 335, so I nudged up the dial to just at the edge of the 3 in 390 to get about 360 to compensate some for the drop in temp. I waited 2-5 minutes between each one depending on whether I did a stuffed one or not. Took 2-2.5 mins for non-stuffed male blossoms and 4-5 minutes for herb-goat cheese stuffed with a tiny zucchini end. I found you MUST ONLY stuff a blossom that was closed when you picked it, otherwise it will open in the fryer leaking out the stuffing causing some burning bits that I think caused a little smoking smell, which doesn't happen if not stuffed.I DO wish they made this exact same one with a ceramic non-stick coating on the inside so that there wasn't any aluminum to leach and it wouldn't be teflon. Because it is aluminum I don't plan on using this device very often in order to minimize the aluminum factor. No one seems to offer a deep fryer yet that has the ceramic coating. At least I don't need to worry about oil spattering onto the stovetop that could create a fire.

Works great, temp seems accurate
Heated the oil up to 360 in under 15 minutes. Didn't watch it, just set a timer and came back and checked with a laser thermometer and it was at temp. The dial seems to be accurate as that is what I set it to.Filled the bottom of the basket with hand made chicken nuggets. These nuggets were small and cooked in about 4 minutes. The temp dropped to about 300, but gave it a few minutes to get back to temp and cooked another batch of nuggets. No splatter or mess. The typical frying odor/smell was there even though I had it setup on the oven with the overhead fan venting out of the house. Also bought a small air purifier for about $25 from Amazon and between it and the overhead fan, the house stopped smelling after about 30 minutes. I think the oil cooling down also helped.I like this much better than my old fry daddy as the vented lid allowed cooking without a mess.

Works great; saves oil
Love this! The size is perfect for frying shrimp for 1-2 people at a time. Saves oil compared to using my larger fryer.
