Miracles - for me at least
I’ve written a similar “glowy” review for Earplanes, but Alpine are even better for me! The rest of this is super long, detailing my contrasting experience with each. Lots of you won’t care, be warned, and don’t be mad at me if you choose to read it all 😂 Bottom line: both work. Alpines are better. Context: I’m pretty well-traveled within the US, but only moderately so via air travel since I drive within 12 hours or so. I probably fly somewhere every 1-2 years. About a decade ago, when I began flying more frequently, I realized I was having excruciating ear pain. My left ear is always worse. Is my pain tolerance the highest out there? Unlikely. Nonetheless, there were a few flights where the pain was so bad, I thought my eardrum burst. Wiped my ear to check for blood. Crying while sitting next to a poor stranger. The pain would eventually reduce but hearing loss would last for over a week. I LOVE traveling, so I scoured the internet and discovered Earplanes first. I used them for a few years, including a trip from Boston to San Francisco to Hawaii and back - a vacation literal years in the making. They reduced my pain and hearing loss by probably 85%. I was SO happy, I remember crying from joy because the getaway we needed wouldn’t be marred by so much discomfort. Unfortunately Earplanes were single use only and very uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Their instructions recommended leaving them in for entire flights, but I couldn’t tolerate them for 6 hours at a time. This meant breaking that seal and rendered them less effective when I put them back in a solid hour before landing. They were painful to me, but much better than nothing!!! On a recent Boston to Phoenix trip, I was restocking my Earplanes supply and tried out this brand as well. They’re it for me. Game changer. Super comfortable. So soft. Easy to take out and put back in, and made to do so. (That’s my husbands favorite part so he doesn’t look as controlling when ordering for me from flight attendants because I can’t hear ANYTHING with Earplanes. He uses to get suspicious looks 😂). These did a more effective job of balancing pressure for pain and hearing loss reduction for me. And they’re reusable!!! Huge money saver and a perk for someone kind of crunchy, like myself. They’re going to live in my airplane kit, and I may legitimately buy a backup. All of this said, I did purchase the child size Earplanes to try (perhaps the others are too large and less effective for me). I didn’t even try them, and not sure I will because the price to pay for a product not working well for me is pretty high. In contrast, Alpines completely eliminated my ear pain, and I only experienced hearing loss for maybe 30 minutes before they popped. No meds. Can you tell they’re there? Yeah. You’re wearing earplugs. But they didn’t hurt me. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who had bad ear pain while flying. Whether for work when you need to be in control of your body, or for play when you’re just trying to have a relaxing getaway!! Life’s too short and these are too affordable to just “deal” with that level of debilitating discomfort.

OMG! No more pain! I can fly again without dread or pain!
I have had problems with my ears for years after a bad sinus infection. To fly, to say caused pain, is an understatement! The pain was so bad, mainly on decent, i was in tears! The pain continued after landing and I could not hear for over 30 minutes, due to my ears not popping! I dreaded flying! I had not flown in years but recently flew to visit my daughter. I researched for weeks before the trip. I bought these ear plugs after reading the reviews. I am glad I bought them! I give the a 20 out of 10! I had a total of 4 flights, the trip there and the return trip. I put these in my ears upon take off, wore them the whole plane ride. You can still hear while wearing them, I could feel my ears pop but NO pain! Before buying the plugs, my ears would not pop! With these ear plugs, I could feel my ears pop but there was no pain! The only thing I would caution is, don't push in your ear too far. I love flying but but because of the pain I dreaded getting on a plane. I would 100 percent recommend these ear plugs! I am very, very satisfied with my purchase and will not dread flying again! I like that they come in their own little carrying case too, you can put on your key chain. If you have problems with your ears, try these, you won't regret it!!

I never knew flying could be painless
WOW! I just want to say this is the BEST travel related thing I’ve bought in my entire life. I have never enjoyed flying due to the pain the pressure changes brought me, but these earplugs were a game changer! This summer I took 4 flights and a bullet train ride and these earplugs saved me each time! I have to admit I was skeptical upon purchasing, but after using the earplugs on each part of my journey, I am throughly impressed. Takeoff and landing were a breeze as I was totally comfortable and didn’t not feel any pressure changes. I even enjoyed sleeping on my flights (which is rare for me). Overall, I am a big fan of these earplugs and plan on repurchasing when necessary and using them on all my future travel.

Effective and comfortable
Helps prevent ear pressure on flights and comfortable enough to wear under headphones. Highly recommend!

Alpine FlyFit Earplugs – Pressure Relief & Flight Comfort Review
These Alpine FlyFit earplugs work so well, especially for pressure changes during flights. I used them for takeoff and landing and they really helped reduce that painful ear pressure and popping feeling. They fit comfortably in the ear and don’t feel bulky or irritating, even when worn for a long time. I also like that they’re reusable and come with a small case, so they’re easy to carry in a bag or pocket. What surprised me most is how much of a difference they made with ear pressure—it felt way more manageable and less uncomfortable than flying without anything. Overall, these are super effective if you deal with ear pain or pressure on planes, and I would definitely use them every time I travel.

Never travel without these
These are plugs are soft, easy to insert and remove and comfortable to wear for hours. It helps reduce the noise of the plane but best of all, I experienced no ear pain for the first time in my life after a flight. I highly recommend and found that using shocks with these provided the ability to watch a movie and block out the background noise.

Didn't work for me. Too comfortable, didn't know if they were in right. Hard to get on and off.
3/21/26 Not for me. One thing is, they hardly block out any noise at all. I was on a plane, and could hear every conversation around me. (Not great for sleeping.) As for comfort, they were so comfortable I didn't even know they were there! In fact, a little too comfortable, as I had no idea if they were in right, or were working, since I could still hear everything. Putting them in is hard, taking them out is a little hard (to find the tiny thing to pull), they just didn't work for me. Going back to the good old standby, but that's a bummer too, since you're only supposed to use them twice. (These, I think, are reusable multiple times.)

Must have!
Ok so, first off, I do have scar tissue in both of my ears, I was hesitant to buy these at first....I read other products and decided to pick these ones. I flew (for the first time) in April and takeoff wasnt to bad besides the popping of the ears. BUT landing was a different story, it literally felt like my ears were going to rupture and I was almost in tears, it took two days for my ears to get back to normal. To get unplugged and to stop popping. I flew again last week. And again taking off wasnt terrible, my ears were still popping but after we were in the sky they stopped after a while. BUT landing again was awful. Almost in tears, loud popping in my ears, they were very painful, and after landing they took 2 days to get unplugged and to stop popping almost every time I would swallow. I could even feel like liquid in them. So, I ordered these for the flight back, I had enough. I needed some relief! I was hoping they would work or at least some. These were a lifesaver!! I put them in a half hour before we landed and took them out when the plane docked at the airport. I would say 95% better! I still had the normal popping for maybe 15 minutes after we landed but then normal! Would 100% buy them again!

life changer
best thing ever. only thing that’s ever worked for me. it doesn’t block out sounds like headphones but it makes the air pressure not cause your ears to pop. it’s small and easy to pack in your bag and looks cute too. wish there was a left and right side division though because i hate mixing which one i used for which and they get jumbled up. it’s washable but i’ll be honest that i bought a new one after because it felt odd after washing and i wore like 8 flights before it needed a wash anyway so already had gotten my moneys worth. i recommend wearing them the whole flight and wearing headphones over them to watch whatever you’d like as it works and that way you don’t have to take them out at all.
