Are these glasses heavy? Is the glass thick?

The glass is thicker than a normal glass but not heavy. It is very sturdy that I wash them in the dishwasher but no one, even the elderly, do not have any problem picking them up. They are beautiful . I use them for special guest as well as everyday.

One reviewer said they don't hold up to dishwasher cleaning. Are these really able to go into the dishwasher w/o damage?

I've run mine through the dishwasher many times with no damage. I did have the bottom break on one glass when I held it under the ice dispenser. Now I make sure to hold the glass at a bit of an angle, so the ice cubes hit more on the side. I really love these glasses!
