Does it come with instructions?

Their is a basic booklet to explain the pieces for chess and draughts hope this helps

Hi. Some picture reviews show how the two sides don’t match nicely, not flat, the figures are different from each other or bent. Has this been fixed?

The chess set is beautiful, I can't fault it. I think the figures are hand-crafted, so some tiny variation is inevitable, but that's part of its beauty. However, this is only under close inspection, I would not say the figures are different from each other. Wood is a living material, if you want complete uniformity get a plastic set.
