Can the spike that punctures the bottle cap be removed to accommodate bottles with no cap installed...or a zero water top mount filter?

Why is the red light not turning on?

There are 3 lights on my model. From left to right, one is for power (which is lit always), the middle is for hot water and the third is for cold water. The hot water and cold water lights only come on when it is actively working on making temperature related water. Once it is to temp, the light turns off.

Can you turn the hot and cold water on at the same time on the side? Or is it only one at a time?

You can do both at the same time. I try that maneuver now and then and end up spilling most of the water down my arm. But that's me.

Will this support weight of five gallon glass water bottle?

we have only gone as high as 4 gallon plastic water jug with no problem at all.
