said to be die cast. review says they're plastic. what are they made of?

The top half - white section is die cast. The bottom half of the van and the underside are plastic.

Do these toys have undesirable hippie decoration (no picture match) or do they look like the photos?

They do not have any hippie flower power type design. They match the picture and are good quality. I was very happy with them.

Do they come in a box?

Each one is in a seperate ziploc bag, and all 4 ziploc bags are in a larger box.
